Mazda to launch 4th Generation MX-5 in Barcelona in September.

  • Global unveiling of fourth-generation MX-5 roadster slated for early September
  • European media and fan events to celebrate the iconic roadster and its 25th anniversary in Barcelona, Spain
After 25 years and three generations, Mazda is opening a new chapter on its legendary MX-5 roadster: The unconventional carmaker will reveal the upcoming fourth-generation model to an exclusive audience at two special events being held in Spain in early September.

The initial unveiling will take place on 3-4 September in Barcelona simultaneously to similar events in Japan and the U.S. Mazda’s guests around the world will be the first to lay eyes on the all-new MX-5, which holds the Guinness World Record as the bestselling two-seater sports car of all time. On 6 September, MX-5 enthusiasts from across Europe will converge on Barcelona to view the coming generation of the iconic sports car. Under the “Long live the Roadster” banner, both occasions will commemorate the 25thanniversary of the MX-5.
Almost 945,000* MX-5s have been produced since 1989. The winning principle underpinning the car that revived the virtually extinct market for roadsters has always been pure driving fun based on a lightweight design and perfect front-rear weight balance.
“The MX-5 is the product that best epitomises Mazda’s convention-defying spirit and our love of driving,” says Mazda Motor Europe President and CEO Jeff Guyton. “It has been grabbing people’s attention for 25 years, and with the new-generation model we’re aiming to share this passion with yet another generation of drivers.”

  • F-TYPE Project 7 will run throughout the weekend alongside the very first
  • D-type, and with F-TYPE R Coupés
  • F-TYPE Project 7 will be Jaguar’s fastest production car to date: with 575PS and 680Nm from its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine, it will reach 60mph in 3.8-sec (0-100 km/h in 3.9-sec) with a top speed of 186mph (300km/h)
F-TYPE Project 7 – the most powerful and fastest production Jaguar to date – will make its dynamic debut in front of packed crowds during this weekend’s Le Mans Classic race meeting from 4-6 July.
Following its unveiling at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed – where customer interest far exceeded the intended production run of a maximum of 250 units – F-TYPE Project 7 will complete demonstration laps throughout the Le Mans Classic weekend.

In celebration of the Jaguar D-type’s 60th anniversary – a car which won at le Mans three times and which inspired Project 7’s genesis – F-TYPE Project 7 will complete its demonstration laps alongside the very first D-type ever built, and with examples of the all-new F-TYPE R Coupé.
With racing over the weekend split into six grids – each celebrating an era of Le Mans’ history – the F-TYPE Project 7 demonstration laps will take place ahead of qualifying and race sessions for Grid 2. Spanning 1949-1956, this grid will include two Jaguar-entered D-types; drivers are 1988 Jaguar Le Mans winner, Andy Wallace, who will share with Richard Meaden, with Gary Pearson and Chris Harris also in action.
F-TYPE Project 7 is a fully road-legal two-seater roadster, which will be built by Jaguar Land Rover’s newly established Special Operations division. Of all aluminium construction and with bespoke carbon-fibre aerodynamic aids, a unique suspension tune, 80kg weight reduction and 575PS power output, F-TYPE Project 7 will deliver a truly focused driving experience. Carbon Ceramic brakes, Torque Vectoring by Braking and race-inspired seats are all standard features.
