PEUGEOT’S JUST ADD FUEL® AIMS TO HELP YOUNG DRIVERS

Following the announcement from The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT)1 that young drivers are putting off car servicing to save money, Peugeot is continuing its support of young motorists by adding yet another desirable model to its ‘Just Add Fuel’® (JAF) scheme.

Now available in Peugeot Dealerships, the Peugeot 208 VTi 1.0 litre 68bhp, starting from £9,995, is the latest 208 model to be added to the JAF range. This new engine boasts great performance but is capable of an efficient 65.7mpg and with CO2 emissions of just 99g/km, it is exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), making it the perfect car for young drivers.

Neil Moscrop, Director of Sales at Peugeot, said: “The figures recently published by the SMMT offer the latest indication that young drivers are now, more than ever, feeling the financial challenge of owning a car. As insurance costs continue to increase, servicing is wrongly being seen as a ‘luxury’ many young drivers simply can’t afford”.

“Just Add Fuel®, gives young drivers the opportunity to buy a brand new Peugeot and cover all the major motoring costs, servicing and insurance in particular, in one single fixed monthly payment, eliminating the worry of unexpected costs.”

The scheme, launched in 2011, is an all-inclusive, inflation proof package that provides comprehensive motor insurance, road tax, vehicle servicing, roadside assistance and warranty, all in a three year finance package, with one single monthly payment.

Moscrop continued: “The welcome addition of the 208 VTi 68 to the ‘Just Add Fuel®’ range, demonstrates Peugeot’s on-going commitment to support young drivers by making some of our most desirable models available through JAF.”

One of the main benefits of the scheme is its ability to make buying a new car a realistic option for drivers. Market research2 indicates that over the last decade, the average number of Peugeot new car buyers aged under 40 was only 22 per cent. However, recent research carried out by the brand has revealed that JAF has had a positive impact on younger drivers purchasing behaviour, with new car buyers through ‘Just Add Fuel®’, aged under 40, now accounting for 40 per cent of the sample.

Moscrop concluded: “It’s essential the message hits home that servicing is not an optional extra and by missing regular service appointments, drivers are putting themselves and other drivers at risk.

“With this in mind, Peugeot is committed to working with young drivers to ensure that they remain safe while on the roads, while still having the option of affording our newest models.”
