Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

The high performance Audi sports car masquerading as a level-headed family-oriented Avant estate has just secured another award for its best-of-all-worlds ability. The Audi RS 4 Avant has just been voted Estate Car of the Year 2013 by respected motoring portal, CarSite.co.uk.

A panel of judges presiding over the site’s inaugural awards presentation agreed that the RS 4 Avant took the top spot in a number of categories, which ranged from pricing and performance to practicality and desirability. Also taken into account was the internet traffic the RS 4 Avant attracted to the New Car and Reviews sections of CarSite.co.uk.

James Barrell, Editor-in-Chief of CarSite.co.uk commented: “The Audi RS 4 Avant is, perhaps more than any other car on the road, a consummate all-rounder. It really is difficult to think of another car which covers all the bases in the same way, and it's for that reason we've given it our Estate Car of the Year Award.”

Ben Fish, Product Marketing Manager at Audi UK, said: “The RS 4 Avant undoubtedly has broad appeal because it can be all things to all drivers – it can go with the flow on the school run or it can give you supercar-style thrills on your favourite deserted back road, all without seemingly ever breaking a sweat. The fact that this formula has not only found favour with CarSite experts but also their readers is immensely encouraging.”

Priced from £55,525 OTR, the latest RS 4 Avant is powered by a high-revving, naturally aspirated V8 engine delivering 450 PS and maximum torque of 430 Nm, enough to take it from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds on its way to a governed top speed of 155 mph, which can be increased to 174 mph on request. A rapid-shifting seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission is standard, as is quattro permanent all-wheel drive enhanced by a sophisticated crown-gear centre differential and a sport differential acting on the rear wheels.

Key options include front carbon fibre-reinforced ceramic brakes and a sports package which adds sports suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) incorporating diagonally linked hydraulic shock absorbers for even flatter cornering, variable ratio dynamic steering, a sports exhaust system and an upgrade to 20-inch Rotor design alloy wheels.
