An image of the hot Audi S1 quattro has surfaced online ahead of the car’s official reveal. A public debut has been set for the Geneva Motor Show next month, but we get a glimpse at the finished product courtesy of this leaked image.
Visually, the S1 has a far more menacing appearance than the A1 supermini it’s based on. The front end has a more chiselled bumper with larger air intakes, while the alloys wheels appear to have increased in size, which also hide bigger and more powerful brakes.
Changes are also likely to extend under the skin, as a new suspension setup and adjustable dampers are likely to be fitted. Engine details were not leaked along with the image but a detuned version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine from the S3 is a possibility. Power should be around 230bhp, with a six-speed manual gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive offered as standard.
There is no official word on pricing but expect a figure in the region of £25,000. More information will be released when the S1 is officially revealed tomorrow.
