  • Citroën to unveil new C-XR Concept at Beijing
  • The SUV concept previews a future model developed by Citroën and DongFeng
  • The C-XR Concept is a contemporary take on the SUV, boasting strong design, outstanding comfort and technological choices focused on efficiency
Citroën will unveil the C-XR Concept at this year’s Beijing Motor Show. A new contemporary take on the SUV, the concept previews the first SUV developed jointly between Citroën and the DongFeng Motor Group. The model will enter a segment that saw nearly three million sales in 2013, up 50% on 2012.

The Citroën C-XR Concept features compact styling with an assertive SUV look that combines elegance and strength. Design highlights include;
  • A wide chrome-finished grille that links the chevrons to the headlamps
  • LED daytime running lights that enhance the front light signature
  • Front optics featuring a double module and indicators
  • A C-shaped side signature providing a visual link between the roof bars and a chrome-finished waistline
  • 3D-effect rear lights combined with a chrome-finished dual tailpipe
The concept also features raised ground clearance with large 17-inch wheels shod with All Seasons tyres, front and rear fairings and wheel arch embellisher complete the look that combines style and body protection. There are also red side décor and wing-mirror housings.

The C-XR Concept features an ideal length-to-height ratio (1.79m x 1.56m) and the body length is limited to 4.26m for agility. With the longest wheelbase in the segment at 2.65m, the C-XR provides outstanding spaciousness, particularly noticeable for rear passengers.
Drivers are seated in a natural, saloon-style driving position with the raised ground clearance providing a commanding view of the road. The suspension settings effortlessly absorb road imperfections for optimal ride comfort.  A large glass panoramic roof also floods the cabin with soft, filtered light.

The Citroën C-XR Concept is fitted with Grip Control technology. Combined with the All Seasons tyres, the system manages optimal traction of the wheels on all types of ground without resorting to a four-wheel-drive system that would increase fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The concept’s powertrain combines a THP 160 petrol engine with Stop&Start and a latest generation automatic gearbox that delivers enjoyable performance with reduced fuel consumption.
Weight reduction was also a key focus to help deliver improved handling for an SUV whilst increasing fuel and CO2 efficiency.
