ŠKODA UK becomes the official vehicle sponsor for all-new Women’s Tour

  • ŠKODA UK becomes the official vehicle sponsor for all-new Women’s Tour
  • Sponsorship will see ŠKODA UK supply a 42-strong fleet of support vehicles for the five-stage race throughout the East of England
  • Elite female cyclists will rely on the impressive ŠKODA Superb, Octavia, Rapid Spaceback and Yeti models
ŠKODA UK has become the first major brand to get behind the Women’s Tour, as official vehicle sponsor for the elite female cycling race. The manufacturer’s flagship Superb, Octavia, Rapid Spaceback and Yeti models will transport technical engineers, medical staff and essential maintenance equipment throughout the five stage Tour (7 – 11 May 2014).
As the official vehicle sponsor, ŠKODA UK will supply a 42-strong fleet of vehicles to race organisers, SweetSpot, for the duration of the Tour. In addition to sponsoring the Women’s Tour, ŠKODA announced last week that it will also continue to sponsor the Tour of Britain, the nation’s largest free-to-spectate sporting event, taking place 7-14 September 2014.

Emily Burns, Communications Manager for ŠKODA UK, said: “We’re delighted to extend our association with cycling in the UK with our sponsorship of the Women’s Tour.
“Not only do our vehicles play a crucial role in supporting the elite cyclists before, during and after every race, but our brand’s involvement also encourages more young enthusiasts to get involved. With a heritage rooted in cycling, it’s fantastic to be able to play our part in its continued evolution, whilst bringing fans and our customers closer to the action at the same time.”
SweetSpot Commercial Director, Alastair Grant, comments: “We are delighted to be able to renew and extend our relationship with ŠKODA UK to encompass our new events for 2014. The fact that ŠKODA was keen to be involved in the Women’s Tour from the outset, demonstrates both the appeal of the new event, and the success of its existing partnership with the men’s Tour.”
Amongst amateur cyclists, the ŠKODA range commands strong attention. With an exceptional combination of space, performance, versatility and value for money guarenteed across the manufacturer’s seven model line-up, coupled with clever accessories such as roof bars and an internal bicycle holder, ŠKODA provides the perfect package for motorists who enjoy two wheels just as much as four.

For example, the recently re-launched ŠKODA Octavia Estate, available from just £17,115, is a firm favourite with cycling enthusiasts. As well as a class-leading boot space of 610 litres, which expands to a massive 1,740 litres with the rear seats down, the redesigned boot opening makes loading bikes and equipment hassle-free.
A long-standing champion of cycling worldwide, ŠKODA UK provides vehicles to the Tour de France, Tour of Britian and Prudential RideLondon as well as other major cycling events across the world. The manufacturer has been the official partner of the Tour de France since 2004. This year it will provide a fleet of ŠKODA vehicles to the race that takes place from the 5-27 July, kicking off in Yorkshire for the first time in the race’s history as The Grand Départ 2014 brings the most famous cycling event in the world to the UK.
