Chrysler Group recently announced a small recall on just a handful of 2014 Ram 1500 pickup trucks. The estimated 159 affected models have been called in for issues related to the transmissions. One of the company's suppliers advised Chrysler that a small shipment of transmissions may potentially contain a defect that could prevent a vehicle from shifting into park.
As of right now, there have been no accidents, injuries, or customer complaints associated with the Ram 1500 recall. Owners of the affected 2014 Ram 1500 vehicles will be contacted by Chrysler directly and will be advised on when to schedule service for their vehicles.
Affected vehicles include models featuring the eight-speed automatic transmission that were built in a 12-day period earlier this year. Dealers will inspect all transmissions to see if the defect is present and will replace the transmissions as necessary at no cost to the owners.
For more information on this recall, customers may contact Chrysler by phone at (800) 853-1403. Most of the affected models were sold in the U.S. For more information on all vehicle recalls in the U.S., visit www.safercar.gov.
