What a great month September was, with massive gains for numerous manufacturers, yet it is still the same old faces in the top ten, albeit slightly moved about, Volkswagen has had an increase for both Golf and Polo, to push them both into the top Five, Ford, as usual, takes the two top spots, and Vauxhall has its two best sellers in the league as well, and with both Astra and Corsa due for change within the next 12 months, it bodes well for the sales of both these models.

Jaguar, BMW and AUDI all saw September numbers drop, with Jaguar the smallest figure at 10 units compared to BMW that was around 2,500 down on last September, Vauxhall, Renault and Dacia continue to sail high with large number increases, and no doubt MG will send out a press release saying that they are the best seller by percentage, but have still ONLY sold 1,800 over three models (MG6, MG3 & Magnette).

A few facts about September, White was the best selling colour, followed by Black, Blue, grey and Red, Silver is nowhere to be seen in the list, it was however the best selling colour ten years ago, along with Black, Blue, Grey and Red, The average MPG from 2004 was 42.4mpg compared to 59.0mpg this year, and lastly the CO2 emissions in 2004 was 179g/km with a rather significant drop to 2014 of 122g/km.

MINI is the big surprise, it has the face lifted Countryman and Paceman, the new MINI Hatch and 5 Door MINI, yet sales are still down for month and year, Has the British public become bored of MINI ? they are not that special, the new MINI has lost its appeal and history since the introduction of BMW's MINI back in 2000, and with the best part of three million produced since then, it has been more popular than the Issigonis original, but it has none of the charm or likability of the original.

The big news is of course Jaguars new XE, it is supposed to be the great white hope for the Midlands based, Indian owned company, it is being touted as the new all Aluminium car, that will be lighter than the competition, it is supposed to have the new amazing Ingenium engines, and yes, we have ordered one, but what a let down, why, well, the car does not really weigh any less than the competition, it is dearer than the competition, and the fuel economy figures are laughable.

The Ingenium petrol engines are NOT in the car, but we have the tried, tested and dreadfully woeful economy, that is the EcoBoost engines from Ford, the Diesel engines again, are not that good in reality, yes the 163 XE is supposed to be able to 75mpg, and be rated at 99g/km, but that's the poverty spec one, that hardly anyone will buy, and for those that remember, Jaguar did the exact same thing with the XF, they put in a 2.7L Diesel engine in the car at launch, and then a few months later changed it for the 3.0L, that serious pissed off a lot of Early adopters of the XF, and it made those cars instantly worthless over night.

And yet Jaguar are doing it again, HAVE THEY NOT LEARNT, we are going for the 180 Diesel, in R-Sport trim, so the engine is Ingenium, I just hope that it is not a bad engine, and they have tested it to death, because I for one, will not let it slide if i get sold a Lemon.

Lastly, its the Paris Motor Show, we will be there, early next week, so expect to see lots of pictures and old news, I also hope to get some more pictures of the XE, both in and out, as well as the Discovery Sport, another product that seems to be more of a money grabber for JLR, and thats a real shame, because they will soon cost themselves out of the £18k-£30k market and thats a massive sector.
