UK SALES - MITSUBISHI - Massive increase in sales last year and more new products to come

Mitsubishi Motors in the UK was one of 2014’s strongest performers according to year-end sales results released by the SMMT today. The company has seen sales growth in passenger cars of 75 per cent compared to the previous year, against an overall market up by 9.3 per cent.

Building on this success and with a strong line-up of new product introductions over the next 12 months, the company has launched a 5-year warranty across all of its models.
From the 1 January 2015, all Mitsubishi cars and commercial vehicles will come with a fully comprehensive five-year warranty package as standard. In addition, models come with a three-year, pan European roadside assistance package – MAP (Mitsubishi Assistance Package).

Mitsubishi Motors in the UK’s Managing Director, Lance Bradley said:

“We have made impressive and sustainable progress during 2014, and have even broken some records with the launch of the UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle. The launch of our across the range 5-year warranty lays the foundation for a series of exciting new product introductions in 2015.”

The Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in electric vehicle has been the major highlight of the UK car market in 2014. Its introduction has transformed the plug-in market, which it now leads by a significant margin, accounting for nearly half of all FYTD sales.

Mitsubishi’s Outlander PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) has an all-electric range of up to 32.5 miles and phenomenal economy and environmental credentials. It emits just 44g/km of CO2 and the official combined fuel consumption figure is 148mpg.

Mitsubishi’s iconic L200 pick-up truck out-performed its sector, with increased sales of 17.4 per cent against a market up 15 per cent. The company’s ASX model increased sales by 54.4 per cent. Both the Shogun and diesel Outlander also posted positive increases, up 66.3 per cent and 10.1 per cent respectively.
