Premier league fans nominate car ranges to their favourite team - Super car, or City car, which are you ?

New research from Europcar reveals the car characteristics that hit home with Premier League supporters

Power, luxury and speed are a few adjectives supercar lovers might associate with their favourite high-spec performance models and according to new research from Europcar, Europe’s leader in car hire services, it seems that fans of Arsenal FC and Manchester United believe their clubs share these qualities. 

  

Premier League fans were asked ‘if your team was a type of car, what sort would it be?’ Top choice for Arsenal and Manchester United fans was ‘supercar’ at 27% and 32% respectively.

The new research* from Europcar also reveals that despite roaring into pole position in the league this season, Chelsea fans are a little more reserved when it comes to likening their club’s qualities to a car type. Top of their list – at 28% - was ‘sports car’. 

‘Sports car’ was also number one choice for fans of Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Stoke City, Everton and QPR.  Swansea City fans opted for a sports car or convertible as the car type most akin to their team.

Fans of West Ham, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace likened their club to a ‘saloon’. 

West Bromwich Albion supporters opted for a saloon or an estate as their first choice.

And perhaps hoping for their teams to cruise through the Premier League, supporters of Burnley, Leicester City and Southampton opted for a convertible!

For Newcastle and Hull City fans top of the list came a City run-around, possibly aspiring to agility on the pitch. 

“It’s intriguing to see the different car types to which football fans liken their clubs”, said Ken McCall, Managing Director, Europcar UK Group.  “But whichever type they choose, there’s plenty of choice of the complete range of car makes and models at Europcar for any fans wanting to emulate their team.”
