From today, in Italy you can order the new engine 2.2 Multijet II that positions the Jeep Cherokee at the top of its class for performance, efficiency and off-road performance.

Two variants of power to meet any requirement of use: 200 hp and 185 hp, both with 440 Nm of torque. Compared to the previous engine, the new engine from 200 hp 2.2 improves both torque by 25%, both the acceleration and power are increased by 17%, while CO2 emissions are down by 3% to 150 g / km.

The 200 hp variant is available on Limited versions and the new Limited Plus, with a list price of 50,500 Euros respectively and 54,000 euro, while the 185 hp is only available on Cherokee Longitude and is available from 45,900 euro.

The new turbodiesel 2.2 Multijet II

Produced at the Italian Pratola Serra (Avellino), the new 2.2 Multijet II delivers an output of 200 hp (147 kW) at 3,500 rev / min. and a torque of 440 Nm at 2,500 r / min., values that place it among the most turbodiesel four-cylinder performance on the market.

Equipped with the innovative automatic transmission with nine speeds and traction 4x4 Active Drive I, the Cherokee 2.2 Multijet II 200 HP reaches a top speed of 204 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.5 seconds, with an average fuel consumption on the combined cycle homologation, of 5.7 liters / 100 km and CO2 emissions of 150 g / km.

The Cherokee 2.2 Multijet II with 200 hp is also available in the new range-topping Limited + adopting standard transmission Active Drive II Jeep 4x4 with low range. In this case, the maximum speed is 203 km / h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.7 seconds. For this version, the average fuel consumption on the combined cycle homologation is 6.1 liters / 100 km, corresponding to CO2 emissions of 160 g / km.

Longitude is available for setting up a variant of the 2.2 Multijet 185 bhp (136 kW), in combination with the 4x4 Jeep Active Drive I and the 9-speed automatic transmission. With this engine, the Cherokee has a top speed of 201 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.8 seconds. Fuel consumption and emissions on the combined cycle approval, are equal to 5.7 liters / 100 km and 150 g / km.

The capacity of the new engine, of 2,184 cm3, was chosen to achieve high standards in terms of power, torque delivery and fuel efficiency, in combination with a treatment system of exhaust gas optimized. The latter is composed of a "close couple DPF" with NSC (NOx storage catalyst) positioned in the engine compartment, that works in combination with the management of the EGR (both high, both low pressure). The engine complies with the Euro 6 emissions regulations.

The architecture of the new 4-cylinder 2.2 Multijet II provides a specific aluminum head DOHC 16-valve, designed as a function of the increased pressures of the common rail system with injection rate shaping, working at 2,000 bar. The design of the pistons, connecting rods and the crankshaft is optimized in view of the reduction in weight.
The shape of the combustion chamber and the compression ratio reduced ensure low emissions of NOx and high performance, while the unpublished solenoid injectors very finely atomize the fuel, with obvious advantages both in terms of silent operation, both on the containment consumption.

The supercharging of the engine is accomplished by a novel variable geometry turbocharger integrated into the exhaust manifold: a solution that reduces the weight of the motor and improves the functionality of the treatment system of exhaust gases. Among the other content that help to increase the efficiency of the new engine, they are to report the intelligent alternator, oil pump variable displacement and the Start & Stop.

The new 2.2 Multijet II has been designed from the start to enhance the legendary off-road capabilities of the use, typical of a Jeep vehicle: the engine has a suction system protected against water and may face a fording depth of up to 48 cm. Proper circulation of all fluids within the engine (oil and fuel) is ensured even on steep slopes (with inclinations to the longitudinal and transverse 60% up to 45%).
