Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) today reported sales of 31,300 units delivered in July 2015.
The all-new Golf family of vehicles continued to find success in the market. In July, Golf family sales totaled 6,717 units and the 2015 Golf TDI® Clean Diesel earned yet another accolade: a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® achievement for the “lowest fuel consumption—48 U.S. contiguous States for a non-hybrid car” with a remarkable 81.17 mpg.
“We are encouraged by the consistent sales growth for the Golf across all models within the family. The latest Guinness World Records achievement for the Golf TDI adds to the suite of accolades which also includes the 2015 North American Car of the Year and Motor Trend Car of the Year,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America.
The Jetta, which was refreshed for the 2015 model year and has a suite of available driver assistance features, continued to show its strength as a core model, with 11,467 units delivered, a 4.2 percent increase over the previous July.
Recently, Volkswagen unveiled the latest model, the 2016 Jetta GLI, the performance version of its best-selling car. The newest edition of the GLI offers new, class leading infotainment features as well as a bold, sporty look for the 2016 model year and will hit showrooms later this summer.
The Tiguan delivered 2,407 units, marking a 13.5 percent increase over the previous July. The Touareg, refreshed for 2015, delivered 676 units: 374 of these were TDI® Clean Diesel models, amounting to 55 percent of its sales.
The Chattanooga-built Passat totaled 6,904 units delivered for the month. Volkswagen recently introduced the value laden Limited Edition model, which has a starting MSRP of $23,995. This month Volkswagen Chattanooga produced its 500,000th Passat.
