Citroen to host a raft of updated, new cars and exciting Tech at this years Frankfurt International Auto Show.

Citroën has been boldly setting trends in terms of automotive creativity for some 95 years, with cars designed to meet customer needs in each era. Citroën cars are comfortable cars, with an inimitable style that makes them a genuine pleasure to own and drive.

As well as the cars themselves, Citroën also extends its highly individual outlook to the services it provides, either directly or via its dealer network, offering customers an enjoyable ownership experience from start to finish. This is a unique state of mind in the industry and it has never been stronger.

True to its winning ways in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, Citroën is well and truly in the race and is proudly pursuing its ambitions at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

*   BOLD, CREATIVE CONCEPT CARS

Citroën’stwo concept cars at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show offer a glimpse of how the brand sees the car of the future:
  • World premiere: Citroën Cactus M concept. This is a fresh, vibrant take on the C4 Cactus and a fitting tribute to the production car’s incomparable design and personality. This cheerful concept car clearly has outdoor leisure activities as its inspiration, much like the mythical Méhari of years gone by. Everything about it extols Citroën’s values.
  • European premiereCitroën Aircross concept. This car is an important interpretation of how Citroën sees the SUV. On its maiden European outing, the Aircross concept showcases a body style that expresses the global potential of Citroën‘s new brand positioning.
With these two cars, Citroën is yet again asserting its unstoppable capacity for creativity.

* AN UP-TO-THE-MINUTE PRODUCT RANGE, WITH EVEN MORE APPEAL

Modern product range

Citroën has released several new models over the last few months, all expressing the brand’s new positioning and its unique set of values.

First came the C4 Cactus, an entirely different kind of car that is both technological and comfortable, with a unique personality. C4 Cactus has won more than 35 international awards, including the prestigious World Car Design of the Year prize, awarded on 2 April 2015 in New York.

For Frankfurt, the C4 Cactus is sporting new equipment, such as asymmetrical split-folding rear seats, a new BlueHDi 100 S&S ETG6 drivetrain and a new ‘Jelly Red’ body colour that makes the car look even more irresistible.

TheCitroën C1 also appeals, with new equipment such as Active City Brake and Lane Departure Warning, as well as new colour schemes such as ‘Blue Lagoon’, which gives the car even more of an individual personality.

New takes on existing best sellers

Updated versions of two Citroën best sellers are also on display at the Frankfurt show. The C4 New Range and New Berlingo Multispace are key players in their respective market segments.

Comfort, the common denominator

Comfort is the common factor across the whole of the Citroënrange.Citroënexpresses unrivalled know-how in designing cars that offer consistent all-round comfort. Citroën’sconcept of comfort keeps pace with shifting customer expectations by factoring in today's lifestyle preferences.

* MEANINGFUL TECHNOLOGIES

Even more efficient engines

Citroën harnesses cutting-edge powertrain technologies to offer customers the very best engines and gearboxes in the industry.

This is exemplified by the latest-generation powerplants, such as the BlueHDi 150 S&S diesel unit with manual transmission and the BlueHDi 180 S&S EAT6 automatic, both of which power today's Citroën C5.

The PureTech range of petrol units, including the three-cylinder turbocharged PureTech engine recently named as an International Engine of the Year, are available on C3, C3 Picasso, C4 Cactus, C4, C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso.

Connected services

Citroën offers a full range of online connected services for peace of mind and everyday convenience, including the new Citroën Connect Packs.
*   A 360° CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

Citroën endeavours to offer complete customer satisfaction through a seamless, zero-stress ownership experience rooted in clarity and confidence, the aim being to achieve the highest customer recommendation rating of any car manufacturer.

The customer experience goes beyond the product itself, extending to services that are designed to simplify how people interact with their cars. For example, Citroën Service Racing offers within-the-hour servicing at no additional cost.

Then there’s the Citroën & You programme, which includes a series of dealership commitments to the customer. Perhaps the most emblematic part of this customer programme is Citroën Advisor, an interactive online opinions site that is the first of its kind for any car manufacturer.

*   WORLD PREMIERE: CITROËN CACTUS M CONCEPT, “FREE YOUR MIND”

A new Citroën concept car, inspired by the Méhari, will premiere at this year’s Frankfurt International Motor Show. The concept is called Citroën Cactus M and boasts a bright, upbeat personality.

The Citroën Cactus M places leisure at the heart of the automotive experience. At ease on all types of terrain and in all situations, the Cactus M concept inspires a sense of well-being, freedom and escape.

AN OPEN-AIR CROSSOVER

The Cactus M has 'go-anywhere' looks, builds on the approach suggested by the Citroën C4 Cactus and clearly expresses its family ties with the Citroën Aircross concept that was presented at the Shanghai Motor Show in April.

The wings are sculpted around the wheel arches for a more compact, muscular look. The upright windscreen, raised body and large wheels underline its personality as a leisure vehicle.

Along the sides, the large plastic doors add a lightweight, protective touch, giving the vehicle its signature look. This design brings to mind the renowned Méhari, a vehicle created with the same 'go-anywhere' philosophy in mind.

The cabin is completely open, connecting the occupants to their surrounding environment. Passengers access the seats in row two by climbing over the sides of the car, using the built in steps on either side at the rear.

INGENIOUS, WITH A STRONG FOCUS ON LEISURE

Through its design, the Citroën Cactus M turns leisure into a lifestyle, and places fun at the heart of the automotive experience. The interior illustrates this approach, using materials inspired by open-air activities.

Ready for all sorts of adventures, the cabin can even be hosed down thanks to the drainage outlets integrated in the foot wells. Inspired by the world of surfing, the seats are designed to resemble wetsuits and are upholstered in a brightly coloured neoprene waterproof fabric.

The Citroën Cactus M is a modular vehicle, with a rear arch that enables passengers to carry all their equipment, such as wakeboards or surfboards. Everything is designed for comfort, ease of use and peace of mind.

AT EASE ON ALL TYPES OF TERRAIN

The Citroën Cactus M concept has also been designed to head off the beaten track, to explore and open up new horizons.

Whatever the activity, weather or road conditions, everything is designed to ensure a relaxing ride for the occupants. On all types of terrain, the Grip Control function optimises traction for an assured ride anywhere.

The Cactus M also inspires a sense of extreme freedom with a modular cabin that turns into a ‘couchette’ and a roof that can be made into a tent. The inflatable roof features an innovative operating mechanism and provides welcome protection in the event of rain.

The Citroën Cactus M concept also features on-board technologies for everyday use with all the helpful equipment found on the C4 Cactus. This includes the central Touch Drive interface and the Easy Push gearbox system.

The Cactus M concept is a modern take on the values that led to the development of the Méhari. These values relate to comfort, well-being and leisure, which have always been part of Citroën’s expertise.

When viewed alongside the C4 Cactus and the Aircross concept, the Citroën Cactus M concept clearly illustrates the vitality of the brand and the coherence of its approach.

*   EUROPEAN PREMIERE: THE AIRCROSS CONCEPT, AN INVITATION TO TRAVEL CITROËN STYLE

The Citroën Aircross is making its European debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. This bold, creative concept car confirms Citroën's capacity to develop a strong market positioning that is:
  • International: Aircross follows on from C4 Cactus to exemplify Citroën’s international ambitions with a body outline that holds clear global potential.
  • Different: Citroën Aircross breaks with convention while meeting all the key requirements of a modern SUV. The exterior design and the interior styling are ultra-modern in the true Citroën spirit, following the stylistic lead set by C4 Cactus to prove Citroën’s capacity to assert its identity in all vehicle segments.
  • The Citroën Aircross demonstrates that C4 Cactus is just a beginning rather than an end in itself, with:
  • A unique philosophy: Citroën Aircross is a protective, feel-good SUV that breaks down the barriers between raw power and positive energy. Its overt optimism shuns any sense of aggression.
  • A unique personality: Pure and optimistic, Aircross has fluid, organic curves punctuated with distinctive graphic features such as the ‘Alloy Bumps’ and ‘Air Signs’. This impression is intensified by the orange-red body colour that symbolises energy and serenity, and the use of innovative materials evoking the vehicle's robustness.
  • A unique design:  With functionality and aerodynamics at its heart.
AN INVITATION TO TRAVEL

With a passenger compartment that gives an immediate sense of energy-generating comfort, everything on board Citroën Aircross is designed to promote occupant well-being.

The physical comfort afforded by the generously proportioned seats is enhanced by the warm, welcoming materials and the combination of pale shades and stimulating colours.

The sleek, horizontal styling lines give the feeling of space and the generous geometric shapes frame an uncluttered interior. In each area of the car, great looks go together with advanced functionality.

The travel theme extends to the design of the stowage spaces, with the use of luggage style straps, for example, in a fresh, modern interior that invites passengers to enjoy an altogether different style of motoring.

TECHNOLOGICAL INTELLIGENCE

Each occupant enjoys the choice of a shared or individual experience inside Citroën Aircross. For example, there are two 12-inch HD screens, one of them is mobile and can be viewed by the passengers.

Each seat has its own speakers and microphone to promote interaction, when required. Another example of technological intelligence is the hybrid plug-in drivetrain, which is a high-performance yet efficient power unit. All of the technologies on board are meaningful and offer a brand-new, delightfully laid-back motoring experience.

2. AN UP-TO-THE-MINUTE PRODUCT RANGE, WITH EVEN MORE APPEAL
*   MODELS WITH EVEN MORE APPEAL
C4 Cactus: NEW FEATURES FOR THE ‘World Car Design of the Year’

The C4 Cactus is an entirely different kind of car that is both technological and comfortable, with a unique personality.

C4 Cactus has won more than 35 international awards, including the prestigious World Car Design of the Year prize, awarded on 2 April 2015 in New York.C4 Cactus sales have topped 95,000 so far, with 50% in the higher trim levels.

C4 Cactus enhancements to premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show include:
  • More Design, with an elegant and upbeat new ‘Jelly Red’ body colour. A subtle mix of red and a hint of raspberry, the new colour will be available with a choice of black, dune or grey Airbumps®. Further personalisation options come with the latest addition to the existing interior range. The new ‘Mica Red’ textile upholstery is a great choice to go with the ‘Jelly Red’ body.
  • More Versatility, with a new asymmetrical split-folding rear seat.
  • More Efficiency, with the new BlueHDi 100 S&S ETG6 diesel powertrain.
CITROËN C1: EVEN MORE PERSONALITY

Just over a year after the car first appeared on the market, Citroën C1 sales are already at more than 80,000 units, including 18% in the Airscape version. Its strong personality continues to turn heads and will be doing so even more with its brand new ultra-fresh, energy-packed colour scheme.

Citroën C1 is appearing at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a brand new ‘Blue Lagoon’ body colour, intended as an open invitation to get away from it all.

The new shade joins the seven others in the colour chart and is included in the list of two-tone versions that are now available on both three-door and five-door models. This new colour goes with the Blue Lagoon Colour Pack (inserts on the multimedia panel and the gear lever base), the new Zebra Blue Lagoon textile, plus special floor mats.

For day-in, day-out convenience the Citroën C1 excels with its compact dimensions (3.46 m long), its manoeuvrability (4.80m turning radius), best-in-class suspension comfort and irreproachable road holding.

For the ultimate in driver reassurance, there is now optional Active City Brake, an automatic urban braking technology that helps to prevent collisions at low speeds.

A short-range laser sensor at the top of the windscreen detects obstacles, such as a vehicle in front, at speeds up to 30km/h. The system starts by warning the driver of impending danger and then provides braking assistance. It will even activate the brakes automatically if required.

The aim is to prevent collisions or at least minimise the consequences, by reducing the impact velocity. Automatic braking can bring the car to a standstill if the situation requires it.

Another useful driver aid on Citroën C1 is the Lane Departure Warning System, which helps guard against reduced concentration, tiredness or a lack of attention at the wheel.

NEW BERLINGO MULTISPACE

The Citroën Berlingo Multispace was the originator of the LUV (leisure utility vehicle) concept and, since its initial release in 1996, has consistently offered a practical, modern response to customer expectations, achieving overall sales of 2.9 million units. The Citroën Berlingo Multispace is a versatile, functional, large-volume vehicle that makes an ideal partner in all situations.

The New Citroën Berlingo Multispace pushes the virtues of versatility, space, comfort and equipment even further, with:
  • A modern, expressive design that features a new front end that is more assertive, yet completely non-aggressive. There's a new bumper with repositioned LED daylight running lights and a new radiator grille.
  • Comfort that is true to Citroën’s reputation. The Multispace version features the Modutop® roof, comfortable seats and suspension, and independent rear seats that can be adjusted to create even more space. The LCV version features the Extenso® cabin with three modular front seats.
  • Technological intelligence harnessed for practicality, with features such as the new 7-inch touch screen, which combines media and satellite navigation functions, and smartphone replication via the Mirror Screen system. Driver aids include the Active City Brake automatic emergency braking system, plus reversing and front parking sensors. Technological intelligence also extends to the car's efficient     latest-generation engines with BlueHDi diesel technology. The BlueHDi 100 S&S manual power unit does 68.9mpg (4.1 l/100km) and emits just 109g per km of CO2.
C4 NEW RANGE

The second-generation Citroën C4 is a benchmark for comfort in its segment. It has recently been refreshed, with a new light signature, more useful technology and the introduction of latest-generation engines. With its elegant design, excellent comfort and irreproachable driveability, it reasserts its status in the compact car segment.

Upgrades to the Citroën C4 include:
  • A more modern design, with a new light signature that enhances both the front end and the rear (new 3D-effect tail lights).
  • Exceptional comfort, with a very smooth ride that does not compromise driving pleasure. Soundproofing is best-in-class, the seats are superbly comfortable, the driver's seat has a massage function and the panoramic sunroof has an electric blind. The Citroën C4 is spacious, with its 2.61m wheelbase, an asymmetrical fold-down rear bench and a boot volume of 408 litres, one of the largest in this vehicle segment.
  • Technological intelligence for enhanced practicality, with the new hands-free access and start system and a new 7-inch touch screen, which combines media and navigation functions, plus driver aids such as hill start assist, intelligent traction control and blind-spot monitoring. Connectivity comes through the Citroën Connect Box, which offers localised emergency calls and assistance, a virtual logbook and an eco-driving service. The Euro 6-compliant BlueHDi diesel and PureTech three-cylinder petrol engines bring technological intelligence for driveability and fuel economy. Stop&Start technology coupled with the use of low-rolling-resistance tyres brings very low fuel consumption: as much as 85.6mpg* (3.3 l/100km) and 86g/km* of CO2 with the BlueHDi 100 manual and 60.1mpg* (4.7 l/100km) for 107g/km* of CO2 with the PureTech 130 S&S EAT6. * depending on country

  • Roomy, uncluttered, functional interiors, with intelligent versatility as on C3 Picasso or C4 Picasso.
  • Numerous, ingenious stowage spaces, such as the Modutop® on Berlingo Multispace (94 litres) or the ‘Top Box’ on C4 Cactus, which is positioned on top of the dashboard.

  • Berlingo Multispace BlueHDi 100 S&S automatic (109g CO2 per km)
PETROL ENGINES: HIGH-PERFORMANCE AND HIGH-EFFICIENCY

PureTech turbo engine voted as an International Engine of the Year

Citroën offers a full range of petrol engines, including the new compact three-cylinder units, in normally aspirated and turbocharged form. These economical and efficient engines bring reductions of up to 25% in terms of CO2 emissions without compromising on driving pleasure.

This technological feat was rewarded on 17 June this year, when the three-cylinder PureTech turbo unit (110 & 130 versions) was voted Engine of the Year in the 1 to 1.4-litre category by the jury of the International Engine of the Year Awards.

THP 165 S&S EAT6

This engine, designed to meet the new Euro 6 regulations, carries over all the virtues of the Euro 5 THP 155 and adds several technical upgrades to achieve a significant improvement in fuel economy and performance:
  • The maximum injection pressure is raised from 120bar on the THP 155 to 200bar, which makes for better combustion and reduced emissions, especially during cold-starts.
  • Stop&Start technology, coupled with the improved management of electrical and hydraulic energy, reduces in-town fuel consumption by around 10% compared to the previous-generation Euro 5 unit.
  • Internal engine friction has been considerably reduced.
  • The turbocharger fins have been redesigned to give more power and an improved response during acceleration at low revs.
The THP 165 S&S engine delivers maximum power of 120kW at 6,000rpm. Torque peaks at 240Nm and remains steady over a wide rev range, providing a remarkable driving response. Coupled with the new 6-speed EAT6 automatic transmission on C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso, this engine delivers 50.4mpg with CO2 emissions of 130g/km.

EAT6: THE BENCHMARK IN 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS

This latest-generation transmission differs from its predecessor in three main ways:
  • Faster gear shifts (40% faster), with the new engine-transmission synchronisation mapping (Quick Shift technology) and new controller.
  • A smoother response, with a compact ‘toroid’ converter and improved filtration for shifts at lower revs, and a wider ratio range for improved pull-away performance and lower revs at higher speeds.
  • Lower fuel consumption, with less internal friction (optimised clutch discs, oil pump flow rate adjusted to engine load and a smaller oil pump with redesigned hydraulic distributor).
With the EAT6 transmission coupled to Stop&Start engine technology, Citroën C4 New Range

models with the PureTech 130 S&S EAT6 power unit achieve fuel consumption of 58.8mpg* (4.8 litres per 100km) with CO2 emissions of 110g/km*.   *depending on country
