UK SALES NOVEMBER - FORD - The Blue Oval continues to dominate the UK sales charts, again.

UK market leader Ford increased sales and share and exceeded market growth across all sectors in November as it reinforced its lead in total vehicle, car and commercial vehicle sales.  Ford commercial vehicle (CV) sales were at the highest level since 1986 and more than double those of its nearest rival.
According to the official November sales figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT):
  • Ford is the UK market leader in total vehicle, car and CV sales
  • Ford total vehicle sales up 15.9 per cent against 5.3 per cent UK market growth
  • Fiesta is UK best-seller; Transit Custom first in CV and fifth in total vehicle charts
  • Transit range is second in UK total vehicle sales
  • Ford has five models in the UK Top 20 – Fiesta (1st), Focus (3rd), Transit Custom (5th), Kuga (15th) and Transit (18th)
Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, said:  “The UK market’s robust growth was evident across all sectors in November, and it is particularly rewarding to see Ford’s strengthening its leadership position by a significant margin.
“This is the benefit of ongoing investment in exciting products and industry-leading technologies, both in cars and CVs.  Our latest newcomers, including C-MAX, S-MAX, Galaxy, Mustang and Mondeo Vignale, will boost our sales momentum even more."

The official figures released by the SMMT today show that total car sales in November were up 3.8 per cent to 178,876 units, compared with November 2014. Ford car sales were up 12.7 per cent at 21,597.  For the year to date (end November) total UK car sales were 2,453,426, up 6.2 per cent compared with the same period in 2014.  Ford car sales for this period were 312,006, some 63,070 registrations ahead of its nearest rival.
Ford is also the clear leader in retail car sales, which most accurately reflect the preferences of private buyers.  At 10.5 per cent, Ford’s November retail car sales share was 2.0 percentage points ahead of its nearest rival, and for the year to date, Ford’s retail car sales share was 12.2 per cent, a lead of 4.2 percentage points.
The Ford Fiesta notched up 7,826 sales in November and with total registrations of 124,457 for the year to date, the Fiesta is the UK best seller by a significant margin – 39,294 sales and 1.6 percentage points of market share ahead of its nearest competitor.
Ford Kuga sales are at the highest level since it was launched with three times as many sold compared with five years ago.  Kuga registrations in November were 2,544, up 63.2 per cent, compared with November 2014, and sales for the year to date of 30,492 are up 35.2 per cent, compared with the same period in 2014.
UK commercial vehicle sales in November were up 15.2 per cent at 33,843, compared with November 2014.  At 9,014, total sales of Ford CVs were up 23.7 per cent, compared with November 2014.  For the year to date total UK CV sales were up 16.2 per cent at 394,011, compared with the same period in 2014.  Total sales of Ford CVs for the year to date were up 22.4 per cent at 98,191, compared with 2014.
Ford light commercials sales for November were up from 1,614 to 1,963 and share up from 22.0 per cent to 31.0 per cent, compared with November 2014.  For the year to date Ford LCV sales were up from 16,203 to 21,502, compared with the same period in 2014.
Ford medium commercials sales for November were up from 5,673 to 7,051 and share up from 29.0 per cent to 30.1 per cent, compared with November 2014.  For the year to date Ford MCV sales were up from 63,989 to 76,689, compared with the same period in 2014.
The full availability of Ford’s extended CV family has helped deliver this strong sales momentum.  Fiesta Van, Transit Connect, Transit Custom, Transit and Ranger all lead their respective market segments.
