  • *Citroen and DS Automobiles split sales in May 2015 - Combine both to get an accurate figure when comparing to 2015 sales figures.
  • Grateful thanks for all the Figures supplied by the SMMT.
Despite the constant doom mongers harping on about the downturn in sales for the UK because we have pulled out of the EU, we have proven yet again that the sales just continue to grow, from the bottom end of the market like Dacia and MG to the higher end like Bentley, the buyers just keep on handing over their hard earned cash.

However, the usual brands that dominate the UK, Ford, Vauxhall and Volkswagen all dipped, again, even with both Ford and Vauxhall having three models each in the August top ten sales list, and Volkswagen has two, that leaves, Nissan's Qashqai and Kia's Sportage taking the other two, however, the extra model from Ford and Vauxhall are also SUV's, so four of this segment has now impacted on the sales chart.

MG has continued to grow with a 130% increase on last year, also Infiniti and DS Automobiles are the only two brands that have year to date growth into the three figures, with a few like Abarth, Smart and Ssangyong all producing good results, the remainder of the year will be interesting.

Next month is the big one, where significant sales occur, it will be this month, September, and the remaining quarter of the year that will decide how 2017 progresses, whether the Brexit effect is real or not, will all happen in Q4 this year.

So here comes September, the month of huge sales, lets hope that the UK brands all grow, and prove one way or the other the truth behind our stupid decision on leaving the EU.
