WORLDWIDE SALES - Volkswagen commercial sales have grown by over 9%, turning over the passenger car brand.

  • 350,800 vehicles delivered worldwide
  • Significant increase in Western Europe (+14.4 per cent)
  • Double-digit increases for the T model range (+17.3 per cent) and Caddy series (+12 per cent)
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles delivered 350,800 light commercial vehicles to customers around the world from January through September 2016. 
This is equivalent to an increase of 9.1 per cent. 
The T and Caddy ranges were particularly successful over the first nine months of the year, as deliveries of 146,900 Transporter models correspond to an increase of 17.3 per cent, while the 117,000 Caddy models delivered to customers represent an increase of 12 per cent. 
With 43,200 vehicles delivered in September, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also recorded a significant increase from the delivery figure for the same month in 2015 (+19.3 per cent).
"Our models are customer-oriented, that is why they are popular," says Bram Schot, Board Member for Sales and Marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. "Our strong performance in Western Europe gives us powerful momentum, and we will continue this success with the new Amarok, which has been available for order at dealerships since this summer, and with the new Crafter, for which advance sales will soon begin."
In Germany, 92,000 vehicles were handed over to customers in the first nine months of the year (+13.7 per cent). The brand's sales also increased in the European core markets Italy (+48.9 per cent to 8,100 vehicles), Spain (+38.6 per cent to 10,000 vehicles) and France (+21.9 per cent to 14,200 vehicles).
A total of 24,700 vehicles were delivered to customers in Eastern Europe from January through September, which corresponds to a significant increase of 13.7 per cent.
Deliveries in North America rose by 18.1 per cent to 5,700 vehicles, and the brand was also able to record increases in several key individual markets, such as Argentina (+6.6 per cent to 15,500 vehicles) and South Africa (+1.6 per cent to 6,500 vehicles).
Declines in deliveries were recorded in the Asia-Pacific region (-3 per cent to 16,300 vehicles) and the Middle East region (-5 per cent to 24,700 vehicles), as well as in Brazil (-29.5 per cent to 6,400 vehicles).
