USA RECALL - TOYOTA - The brand is recalling 73,000 Tundra models from 2016-2017.

Toyota Motor North America, Inc, Announced that it is conducting a safety recall of approximately 73,000 Model Year, 2016 and 2017 Toyota Tundra vehicles in the U.S.

The involved vehicles are equipped with resin rear step bumpers and resin reinforcement brackets at each corner.  In the event of an impact to the corner of the bumper, the resin bracket may become damaged but not be noticed.  If a person steps on the corner of the bumper that is damaged, a portion of it may break away, increasing the risk of injury.

Toyota dealers will replace the resin reinforcement brackets with new ones that are made of steel at no cost to customers.  In addition, the rear bumper tread covers will be replaced as part of the remedy.

All known owners of the involved vehicles will receive a notification by first class mail starting in the middle of February.

Toyota Motor North America, Inc., announced that it is conducting a safety recall of approximately 92,000 Model Year 2016 and 2017 Toyota Prius sedan vehicles in the U.S.

On the involved vehicles, there is a possibility that the parking brake could become inoperative.  If this occurs and the driver exits the vehicle with the transmission in a gear other than ‘Park’ while the ignition is on, the vehicle could roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.

Toyota dealers will add clips on the top of the brake cable dust boots to prevent the cable from becoming inoperative at no cost to customers.  All known owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail starting in November.

USA RECALL #5 - Nearly 8,000 MINI Clubman models recalled for possible side curtain airbag deployment issues.

SUMMARY:

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 MINI Clubman vehicles manufactured August 19, 2015, through July 14, 2016. The side curtain air bags for the front seat occupants may deploy in the intended positions in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

CONSEQUENCE:

If a side curtain air bag does not inflate as intended in the event of a crash, there is an increased risk of injury to the front seat occupants.

REMEDY:

BMW will notify owners, and dealers will modify the driver and passenger side curtain air bag covers, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin September 12, 2016. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.

USA RECALL - Subaru issues a stop sale order and asks owners to NOT use their 2016-2017 Legacy & Outback.

Subaru of America is recalling 48,500 new U.S. vehicles because of a potential steering issue and warned owners not to drive them until they are inspected and repaired if needed.

The unit of Fuji Heavy Industries Inc. said the recall covers the 2016-17 Legacy and Outback. Dealers will inspect and if necessary replace the steering column.

The recall covers vehicles of the two models built from Feb. 29 to May 6.

Subaru said the steering column in the recalls may have been improperly built and turning the steering wheel may have no effect on the direction of the wheels.

There were no reports of injuries or crashes related to the defect in a notice filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration posted Thursday.

Subaru launched a stop sale on the vehicles on May 9 after a customer reported an issue with an Outback on May 3.
