The London Motor Museum unveils one of the worlds first Tattooed cars.

• The UK’s only Gumpert Apollo revealed as one of the world’s first tattooed cars customised by the London Supercar workshop
• London-based tattooist Aleksy Marcinow has inked the car with a totally unique Japenese-inspired design
• The car can be seen for the first time at the Gumball 3000 rally on Regent Street, London on Sunday 8^th June

The London Motor Museum will unveil its exclusive Gumpert Apollo tattoo car, inked by London-based tattoo artist Aleksy Marcinow and customised by the London Supercar workshop, at the Gumball 3000 rally on Regent Street on Sunday (8 June).

Working with renowned tattoo artist Aleksy Marcinow of Black Onyx Tattoo Studio in London, Elo and his customisation team have created one of the world’s first tattooed-designed cars. Having studied fine art and wanting to compliment the curves of one of the fastest cars on the planet, the Gumpert Apollo, Aleksy took inspiration for the car’s tattoo design from Japanese art and irezumi, an area he is currently exploring.

Elo, London Motor Museum owner and founder, commented: “The Gumpert Apollo is one of my favourite cars in the museum and it looks fantastic with its latest customisation – a car tattoo. I’m really pleased with the design and can’t wait to reveal it this Sunday on London’s Regent Street.”

Tattoo artist, Aleksy Marcinow, commented: “I was very excited to work on something completely unique and one of the world’s first. I’ve never tattooed a car before but it has many similarities to the human body, it had to be right first time and I had to work with the angles and curves in the car but at least the Gumpert Apollo didn’t move or scream. I’m really looking forward to the reveal on Sunday and getting feedback from the Gumball 3000 visitors.”

The London Motor Museum has been home to the only Gumpert Apollo in the UK since 2010 when it was purchased from the Monaco Motor Show and valued at around £370,000. The new inked Gumpert Apollo will be unveiled on Regent Street (London) on Sunday 8^th June as part of the Gumball 3000 rally.

The London Motor Museum is also bringing along an additional 10 luxury supercars ranging from the 1930s all the way through to modern day.

Worlds most exclusive Ferrari, that will be the Pick up truck.

If you have not seen this programme, you really must, it is a great show, and it makes a pleasant change for there to be a British TV show that builds these sorts of cars, when we usually get US branded programmes only, the banter between Elo and Will, is hilarious, they are like an old married couple, that bicker and bounce of each other, go on, watch it, you know you want to, just to see how the Brits do it.... (and sometimes better), The Bristol was a great show, This, the Ferrari, not as good, as they bastardised a Ferrari, and thats just not on... LOL...

History Channel’s newest television show, Ultimate Wheels, is set in the London Motor Museum and sister operation, London Supercar Workshop, and follows owner and founder, Elo, on his quest to transform great cars into ‘Ultimate Wheels’.

A highlight of the UK’s most colourful new car show is a creation dreamt up by Elo in light of the booming London housing market and its appetite for increasingly decadent home conversions – the ultimate builder’s workhorse – a Ferrari pick-up truck. 

To realise Elo’s vision, he and his mechanic buddy Will Trickett set about converting a 1989 Ferrari 412 into a perfect workhorse for the high-end tradesman. 

They start by taking an angle-grinder to the Italian collectable, removing 300mm of the roof and shifting everything forward to create a 3ft load bed at the back.  Taking inspiration from luxury yachts, teak wood is used to panel the rear bed after jacking up the rear suspension for extra load-carrying capability.

A real Jekyll and Hyde conversion, the Ferrari is adorned with a shotgun scoop bonnet and bespoke exhaust system resulting in a dual-personality of high performance hot-rod and practical workhorse. The shotgun scoop moves up and down and the unique exhaust has a valve system whereby the driver can decide at the flick of a switch whether to have the exhaust growl fiercely or produce a more refined sound for London’s leafier avenues.

The pick-up is finished with a bespoke sound system (ideal for playing Italian opera) and a beautiful Ferrari rosso red paint job.

Elo commented: “This is one of my favourite cars of the TV series – something truly unique and even experienced Ferrari technicians like what we’ve done. The rest of the series sees us work on a VW camper, a Ford Mustang, a Group B rally-inspired Audi, a unique Bristol and many more amazing conversions.”

Elo and his London Motor Museum collection are at the heart of the TV series ‘Ultimate Wheels’, now showing Thursdays at 9pm on History Channel.
