Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

Schools out, and it's time to enjoy the summer, and MG apparently offers the family everything it needs in the GS

School’s out and it’s time for summer and, for some, that means holidays or at the very least a fun, family day out.
MG Motor UK’s newest model, the MG GS, is the perfect solution for getting a family and all the necessary equipment in whilst still maintaining comfort and space. To make the MG GS even more family and adventure friendly, there is a fantastic array of accessories available.

For those looking to head out on their bikes, roof cross bars (£204.00) are the perfect accessory to hold cycle carriers (£192.00). Or, if the preference is to place bikes on the back, a tow bar cycle carrier (from £131.99) is also available to carry them neatly to the chosen destination. The roof cross bars are also ideal for a roof box. The 360-litre roof box (£420.00) with a three-point locking system, for additional security, has a quick attachment that fits the box to the roof bars entirely from the inside.
Hoping to tow a caravan or trailer? Great news, the MG GS has a towing capacity (braked) of 1,750kg. A tow bar is also available in the accessories range making it easier to fit, hook-up and tow.
For the more practical customer, who might want to kid-proof or simply protect their MG GS, there is a range of rubber mats (from £30.00) for the front, rear and boot. These handy accessories protect the car’s interior from mud, spillages and water keeping the MG GS in showroom condition. MG marks the first month of SUV sales with quotes from the people that have taken delivery of their GS cars.

It’s a month since the MG GS launched in the UK and the newest addition to MG Motor UK’s line-up is already causing quite a stir.
In one month, MG has registered over 70 MG GSs and customers up and down the country have been out and about enjoying their new cars. Regional tests drive events have also been taking place across the country in the last few weeks.
People that currently own competitor brands are finding that the MG GS is proving to be a better value option and, in many cases, a much better drive and more specification for the price.

To mark one month, MG spoke to a few of the lucky new owners of the MG GS.
Adam Sloman, General Manager of the MG Car Club, has just bought an MG GS Excite in ‘Sunset Orange’ for him and his family to enjoy.
“Being a long-standing fan of MG, I’ve owned loads of different MGs over the years, from a Maestro to a Midget – but the idea of having an MG that I could get all the family in was a real attraction. We needed a car that was a little bigger, particularly as the kids are getting older. My wife absolutely loves driving it, particularly on the school run as it stands out amongst the other cars. I’m hoping she’ll let me have a drive soon!
“We could have gone for an older MG that is bigger than a two-seater sports car, but there are so many great modern features in the MG GS. Plus, the kids love connecting their phones and listening to their playlists!”
Paul Pickering, a loyal customer of MG for 12 years, became the first customer to collect an MG GS only five years after securing the first MG6. Paul purchased his MG GS from Summit Garage in Dudley.
Paul said: “It was great to find out that I was the first owner! My wife and I have chosen the MG GS not just because it’s a great looking car, but because it’s an automatic – it makes things so much easier for us as we get older. It’s also got stacks of space, which means we now have a car that can handle all the luggage for trips away.”
Judith, Simon and their daughter Lauren have been loyal customers of NT Shaw of Louth for many years. Having never owned an MG, the family were keen to see this new SUV. The MG GS had barely been in the showroom before Judith and her husband took it out for a test drive. The moment they returned, they signed on the dotted line for a top-of-the-range Exclusive.
Judith said: “We’re so pleased with our new purchase, it is so comfy and spacious. We’re also really happy with the fuel consumption and performance – both of which have exceeded our expectations.
“We love the styling of the car and we enjoy the looks we get from people as we drive around!”
Paul Miller was driving an MG3 before the MG GS caught his eye in his local dealership, WH Brand in Lincolnshire.
Paul said: “I decided to upgrade my MG3 as I was blown away by the MG GS – I absolutely love it, it’s beautiful!
“I decided to go for the Excite and it’s great. It handles really well, is comfortable and puts me in a higher position on the road which is a real plus point.”
The MG GS range starts from £14,995 and is available with a number of great offers, including :
  • A five year or 80,000 mile (which occurs first) manufacturer parts and labour warranty
  • 0% APR representative finance. This is available up to five years with a minimum 20% deposit
  • An £850 deposit contribution on all MG GS models

MG Motor UK is bringing the new MG GS to people nationwide as part of its regional test drive tour.

MG Motor UK is bringing the new MG GS to people nationwide as part of its regional test drive tour. The MG GS is over halfway through its tour of the country, where the MG team has been taking it to the public, in various locations, to give them the opportunity to have a drive and find out more about the newest addition.

So far the MG GS has been to Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Huntingdon and Maidstone. The MG team has had great feedback with many drivers expressing interest in purchasing then and there. Seven sales quotes were prepared at Huntingdon for customers who were bowled over by the MG GS.
Having test driven the MG GS Exclusive DCT, Mr Webb said: "Simply, I could not in any way consider a repeat purchase of my existing model, not because I don't enjoy it but at roughly £10,000 more than the GS, I'd simply be wasting my money. This is a car I've been waiting for and I'm very, very impressed."
Other comments have included:
“It drove exceptionally well, the handling was great – not at all what I expected from an SUV.”
“Really impressed with the engine and the pull away, even in 6th.”
“The boot space is very impressive and with the fold-flat seats, there’s plenty of space for my mountain bikes.”
“Very good handling, even down narrow lanes and uneven surfaces I felt this car would get me on my way no bother.”
Over 200 people will have driven the new SUV when it concludes its tour next week. The remaining locations are Birmingham (MG Sales Centre, Longbridge) on Saturday 2 July, Exeter (Sandy Park) on Tuesday 5 July and Bridgend (Nathaniel MG Sales Centre) on Thursday 7 July.
Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing for MG, said: “These regional test drives have been a fantastic way of bringing to the new MG GS to the public, particularly for those who aren’t familiar with the newest addition to the MG brand.
“We are really pleased with how well the MG GS has been received, as it really is a great car. The aim of this road show was to let people get behind the wheel of the MG GS and experience our new SUV for themselves. The feedback we’ve received so far and the amount of people interested in purchasing has been phenomenal.”
Those wanting to attend any of the remaining regional test drive days can register their interest on the MG website http://mg.co.uk/gs-first-drive-roadshow/. Please note that the Birmingham event is almost full, so check availability with the MG Sales Centre on 0121 251 6533.

Whats in a name - The GS from MG is already doing reasonable business in just a few days since it went on sale.

This time last week, MG Motor’s new SUV, the MG GS, went on sale. Since then almost 40 have been registered, orders have been taken, deposits are being made and handovers are just around the corner.
Customers looking to bag themselves this fantastic new model may not know that MG invited the public to be part of the creative process earlier this year.

Prior to announcing any details about the car, members of the public interested in hearing about the GS were given the opportunity to put forward their suggestions for trim level names. These names depict the grades of a model and differentiate the features and equipment available.
Almost 2,000 names were sent in. Those that were mentioned more than once were pulled into a list and the final decision was made by MG’s creative team. The trim level names were revealed last week, along with the pricing for each one. The three chosen names were: MG GS Explore (entry level), MG GS Excite (mid level) and MG GS Exclusive (top level).
Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing for MG, said: “We were delighted with the response we got from the public and thank everyone for their great ideas – there are a lot of creative people out there, which is what we were hoping for. The people who contributed are now part of automotive history, which is pretty exciting. We also had some of our dealers throw names in!
“This is a really exciting time for MG and we wanted our customers to be part of it, plus it’s nice to have a say in life. When we updated the MG6 last year we considered our customers feedback, so why stop there? This car reflects fun and adventures, so we decided to take our customers on an adventure with us and have a bit of fun along the way!”
The MG GS is MG Motor’s first SUV. With three trim levels offering customers plenty of specification for very little money, the MG GS is very competitive in its class with the range starting from £14,995. The top specification of the new model is available with manual or dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Wednesday, 15 June 2016

Pricing and specification has been announced for the All-New MG GS - The new SUV thats well kitted out & Priced.

The wait is over. Today, MG Motor UK’s all-new SUV, the MG GS, was officially launched and the lid has been lifted on what a fantastic package this new vehicle is offering.
MG is proud to announce that, like the other models in the range, the MG GS is no exception to being affordable; with the line-up starting from only £14,995 and finishing at £19,495 for the manual transmission and £20,995 for the DCT (dual-clutch transmission).
The good news keeps coming, with the MG GS benefiting from a full five year factory warranty as standard; which shows the confidence the manufacturer has in the quality of this new model.

The MG GS holds its own against others in its sector in a number of areas, including CO2 output, torque, mass efficiency and towing weight. The MG GS has:
  • more torque than its two wheel drive gasoline competitors with 250Nm
  • more power than competitor two wheel drive gasoline variants, with 122kw available
  • a competitive CO2 value of 139g/km for the manual and 141g/km for the DCT
  • a competitive towing mass of 1750kg, making it suitable for towing a large family caravan
  • a competitive 0 – 60mph time of 9.6 seconds
The MG GS, which has been designed and engineered in Longbridge, Birmingham, has been developed to make it drive and handle like an MG should. The chassis has been tuned to deliver agility and great handling, making the driver feel confident when they take on the most challenging of roads.
The MG GS is available in three trim levels, with an option of manual or DCT on the top specification. Introducing the:
MG GS Explore:
This entry level model certainly isn’t short on specification. The price tag of £14,995 doesn’t mean the customer will lose out on life’s little luxuries, such as cruise control, automatic headlamps and air conditioning. This car is extremely affordable, whilst still being equipped to tackle everyday adventures.
MG GS Excite:
The ‘Excite’ should do just that, particularly when customers get even more toys for their money. As well as what the ‘Explore’ offers, this trim level has DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity and rear parking sensors. All of that for £17,495? We said it would excite!
MG GS Exclusive:
Step up to the top of the range and the best of the specification. The ‘Exclusive’ is available with a choice of transmissions; 6-speed manual or MG’s first 7-speed DCT gearbox. Leather sports seats, that are electrically adjustable, and an iGO navigation system are great additions that allow the driver to relax and enjoy stress-free-driving. The manual is available at £19,495 and the DCT at £20,995.
Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing for MG, said: “This is a great day for us, as we can finally share the information so many people have wanted to know. The MG GS is competitive in many ways and we are confident it will do well in the SUV market.
“This car offers so much for comparatively little, making it the SUV to choose. The specification on these cars is phenomenal and when you add in the five year warranty it’s a no-brainer. There are some really great features as well, such as the adjustable rear seats that not only recline but fold completely flat making it adaptable for whatever the customer’s lifestyle.
“Customers choosing the MG GS will save money over more expensive SUVs. They will have all the specification they could want and still have money left to enjoy holidays or family days out.”
