Visitors to Concours of Elegance 2016 – held at Windsor Castle from 2-4 September –  will have the opportunity to see the reawakening of an icon, as Atalanta Motors debuts its first completed model since 1939.

Established in the 1930s, and with only 21 models produced before the outbreak of war, Atalanta models were amongst the rarest and most technically advanced British sports cars of their day.

The car at Concours of Elegance is the latest version of a new, modernised Atalanta range that stays true in spirit and design to the original. Using a traditional aluminium over ash construction and with a light but powerful four-cylinder engine, the updated Atalanta has all the timeless appeal of the original.

The Atalanta joins sixty of the world’s finest cars at Windsor Castle from 2-4 September in celebrating the incredible history and craftsmanship of the motorcar. As with many of the main Concours cars, coach built by the likes of Zagato, Pininfarina, Saoutchik and more, the modern Atalanta can be coach built and personalised to the exact wishes of the buyer.

The event

The Concours of Elegance began in 2012, showcasing sixty of the world’s finest cars at Windsor Castle to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Since then it has moved to St James’s Palace and Hampton Court Palace, before heading to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh in 2015. This year’s fifth edition of the Concours returns to Windsor Castle as part of a celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90^th birthday.

The Main Concours

Sixty of the world’s rarest cars will gather in the exclusive Quadrangle at Windsor Castle this September – the full list of which is revealed by the Concours Steering Committee today.  A 1900 Daimler 6hp owned by Her Majesty The Queen represents one of the earliest cars in attendance, first bought by King Edward VII as the first Royal motorcar.

A car like no other is the 1938 Hispano Suiza Dubonnet Xenia, an art-deco masterpiece designed by Jacques Saoutchik complete with unusual parallel sliding doors and an aviation-themed interior. From 1958 is another coachbuilt rarity, the Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina Series I Cabriolet – one of just 40 built.

Sometimes the stories behind the cars are what makes them great, including the 1966 Mini Radford Mini de Ville GT in the Concours. Bought by Beatle, George Harrison, the car was painted with a psychedelic livery for the film Magical Mystery Tour. Also in the Main Concours is a 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Spider Valeo – the only factory-built convertible Testarossa in existence. It was especially built for Gianni Agnelli when he took over Fiat S.p.A in the ‘80s.

The Concours of Elegance traditionally tells the story of the automobile from start to finish, and the very latest car in this year’s Main Concours is the one-of-eight Touring Supeleggera Disco Volante Spyder. Based on the rare Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, the Disco Volante is hand-crafted from aluminium and carbon fibre.

The Special Features

1. 1926 Grand Prix cars  

Part of the celebrations of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90^th birthday, the Concours of Elegance will gather cars that remain from the very first British Grand Prix in 1926 – the year of Her Majesty’s birth. The incredible Delage 155B, Talbot 700, Halford Special and Thomas Special will allow Concours visitors the chance to see where top level motorsport began in the UK.

2. Revolutionary Cars of Her Majesty’s lifetime

Concours of Elegance will gather the British cars that have defined the British motor industry in each decade of Her Majesty The Queen’s lifetime. From the glamorous Bentley 3 Litre of the ‘20s and Rolls-Royce Phantom of the ‘30s, to the ingenious Mini of the ‘60s and game-changing McLaren F1 of the ‘90s, it will be a true celebration of British innovation and engineering.  

3. Specialists’ Showcase

Some of the UK’s best classic car specialists will be exhibiting at the Concours of Elegance 2016, including Nicholas Mee, Frank Dale, Talacrest, Eagle GT, Fiskens, Duncan Hamilton and GTO Engineering. Displaying some of their most amazing models, the Specialists’ Showcase offers visitors to not only admire the cars on display but, also to buy them.

4. The Club Trophy

The Club Trophy will be held at the Castle in September, featuring hundreds of classic cars from across the UK and the best-of-the-best from the nation’s car clubs. Each club submits their individual Concours winners, which are then judged by a panel of Concours of Elegance experts, chaired by HRH Prince Michael of Kent and guest judges which in recent years have included David Gandy, Mark Knopfler and others.  2016’s judging panel will be confirmed in the summer.  The Club Trophy winner car is then entered in to the Concours of Elegance in 2017.

5. Parade of Aston Martins

One of the most incredible sights coming to Windsor Castle in September, is a parade of every single Aston Martin ever produced. Organised with the help of the Aston Martin Owners’ Club, the parade will be arriving in to Windsor Castle at 9am on Saturday 3^rd September, telling the complete Aston Martin story from the very beginnings to the latest DB11 model.

6. Car Clubs

More than 800 cars will be attending over the weekend of Concours of Elegance 2016, from the UK’s leading car clubs. Owners’ clubs from AC, Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, Ferrari and Lamborghini will join a host of others in showcasing their cars as part of a free-to-view area of the Concours on Windsor Castle’s incredible Long Walk.

7. Charity and partners

One of the primary aims of Concours of Elegance is to raise money for charity, and this year’s event will be generating funds for The Queen’s Choral Foundation, The Household Cavalry Foundation and Springfield Youth Club Hackney. HRH Queen Elizabeth II has made the decision to sell of one of her luxury Bentley's, your's for £200k

• Unique Bentley Mulsanne as used exclusively by the Queen has gone on sale

The Queen’s Bentley Mulsanne limousine has gone on sale for just under £200,000 on Auto Trader. This rolling piece of history was reserved for exclusive use by the Monarch during a two-year period from 2012 to 2014 when the Bentley was retired from Royal duties.

The Mulsanne was pressed into service by the Queen during her Diamond Jubilee celebrations and for a unique visit to 10 Downing Street where she attended her first-ever cabinet meeting with Prime Minister, David Cameron, who greeted her on her arrival.

The limousine was first prepared and registered by Bentley in Crewe at its headquarters for exclusive use by the Queen.

The Royal wheels features several upgrades including walnut burr veneered picnic tables, door panels and rear quarter vanity mirrors. There are embroidered Bentley emblems to all seats and the car runs on optional 21-inch classic alloy wheels.

The interior boasts a full leather interior, air conditioning, driver information system and satellite navigation system, which has Windsor set as the home address.

The Mulsanne is powered by a muscular 6.75-litre engine with over 500bhp and is capable of dashing to 60mph in just over five seconds. The Bentley is capable of hitting a top speed of 184mph, but it is not known whether James didn’t spare the horses transporting her Majesty to one of her many pressing engagements.

This Ex-Royal Household Bentley Mulsanne covered less than 5,000 miles during its two-year service with the Queen and is now offered in immaculate condition having covered a total of 5,826 miles.

Prospect buyers can pick up a piece of unique automotive history for just under £200,000 in the year that the Queen herself celebrates her 90^th birthday. The car is offered for sale by a dealership based in Bramley, Surrey.

The opening of the £500m Engine Manufacturing Centre near Wolverhampton is a seminal moment for Jaguar Land Rover as it embarks on manufacturing in-house engines for the first time in a generation, cementing its position as the UK’s most significant automotive investor.

The new facility is home to the ‘Ingenium’ engine family which will power a new generation of Jaguar Land Rover products designed, engineered and manufactured in the UK. This starts with the 2.0-litre diesel in the Jaguar XE.

Jaguar Land Rover, the UK's leading manufacturer of premium vehicles, today received a prestigious 2014 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, from Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands, Mr Paul Chandrasekharan Sabapathy CBE.

The award, which reflects Jaguar Land Rover’s sustained sales success, was accepted today at the Headquarters site in Whitley by Dr Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover's CEO. Jaguar Land Rover also had the honour of being joined by Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata, and Tata’s Group Chairman Mr Cyrus Mistry, together with our Executive Committee of Management and representatives of Jaguar Land Rover’s 30,000 employees.

The Queen's Award is the perfect complement to Jaguar Land Rover being named Responsible Business of the Year 2013, recognising its success internationally as well as the many positive ways the business contributes to society. The business’ outstanding overseas sales growth is reflected in the rise from 274,280 vehicles sold in 2011 to the 425,006 vehicles sold in 2013.

Exports account for more than 80% of all vehicles Jaguar Land Rover produces at its three UK manufacturing plants. The company’s largest export regions are mainland Europe, North America and China, together accounting for 60% of all export sales. Over the last three years, Jaguar Land Rover has created 11,000 new jobs and it is estimated that these will create an additional 24,000 positions in the supply chain.

Jaguar Land Rover, the UK's leading manufacturer of premium vehicles, has achieved a prestigious 2014 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, reflecting sustained sales success driven by global exports to over 170 countries.

The award is conferred today, on Her Majesty The Queen’s birthday, citing Jaguar Land Rover’s “outstanding overseas sales growth over the last three years”.

It is one of the most important awards for British businesses.  The official award notification to Jaguar Land Rover reads: “Her Majesty The Queen has been graciously pleased to approve the Prime Minister’s recommendation that your business should receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, this year.”

Exports account for 80% of all vehicles Jaguar Land Rover produces at its three UK manufacturing plants.  In 2013, the company sold 425,006 vehicles, up 19% on the previous year. Jaguar Land Rover’s largest export regions are mainland Europe, North America and China, together accounting for 60% of all export sales.  

In addition, the company’s share of vehicle sales in regions beyond its traditional major markets in the UK, US and Europe has increased from below 15% in 2008 to more than 40% now, as it has focused on driving a balanced global sales presence.

Jaguar Land Rover vehicles are all engineered and designed in Britain, with two research and development centres in addition to its three production facilities.  The company now employs almost 28,000 people directly in the UK, rising to almost 30,000 globally, with a further 190,000 UK jobs supported in dealerships, suppliers and local businesses.

Later this year, Jaguar Land Rover will open its first all-new engine manufacturing facility - located near Wolverhampton, UK - to produce a new family of advanced, aluminium engines, called “Ingenium”, that will power future Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.  The centre, which was visited in February by Prime Minister, David Cameron, is the product of a £500m investment by the company and will create almost 1,400 new UK jobs.  It will also create a further 3,500 highly skilled jobs in the supply chain and the wider UK economy.

Jaguar Land Rover is investing a further £1.5 billion to introduce an all-new, technically-advanced aluminium vehicle architecture in forthcoming models, beginning with the new Jaguar XE premium sedan to be manufactured from 2015 at the company’s Solihull facility, creating 1,700 new jobs.

This is the first Queen’s Award won by Jaguar Land Rover as a single company, but each of the brands has won six times in the past between 1967 and 2008.

In total, Jaguar Land Rover received over 200 international awards during 2013, for its products, its people and its business practices. It is also the only automotive company to hold all three Royal Warrants, as a supplier of goods and services to the households of HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Prince of Wales.
