USA - Sorento CUV and Sedona Minivan Named Total Quality Impact Winners in Respective Segments

  • Sorento CUV and Sedona Minivan Named Total Quality Impact Winners in Respective Segments
  • · Strategic Vision’s Total Quality Impact is the automotive industry’s most complete measure of the quality of a new vehicle
  • · Kia owners praise their vehicles’ stylish design, innovative features and outstanding craftsmanship
Kia Motors’ hard-earned reputation for delivering world-class quality and reliability across its model line was reinforced today when Strategic Vision named Kia the highest quality brand under $26,000 (in a tie) in the research-based consultancy Total Quality Impact (TQI) study.

Leading the way for Kia were the Sorento and Sedona, which achieved the highest TQI scores in the mid-size CUV and minivan segments (in a tie), respectively.
“The latest Strategic Vision Total Quality Impact data is further proof of the ‘New Kia’s’ standing as a leader in design, quality, technology and value,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning, Kia Motors America.
“The Sorento and Sedona are prime examples of Kia’s commitment to surpassing consumers’ expectations in everything we do, and the Total Quality Impact recognition is especially gratifying as it represents the voice of our customers.”
Strategic Vision surveyed more than 39,000 new-car owners to select the winners of this year’s Total Quality Impact awards. Owners surveyed praised the Sorento for its excellent value and premium interior design, while others gave the Sedona high marks for its innovative features, interior craftsmanship, and performance. “Kia's focus on design and technology has nurtured the belief that customers have in the thoughtfulness and quality of their products,” said Alexander Edwards, President of Strategic Vision. “The Total Quality Award winners, and other well-performing models like the Optima, point to the success that Kia has had in this regard.”

USA SALES 2015 - KIA - Continued growth shows no end for the sister brand of Hyundai.

  • Year-Over-Year Sales Up 7.9 Percent as Kia Surpasses 600,000 Units for the First Time

On the strength of eight consecutive monthly sales records – including December – Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced all-time best annual sales of 625,818 vehicles in 2015, up 7.9 percent year-over-year.

The record-setting December total of 54,241 vehicles increased  19 percent over the same period last year and pushed Kia over the 600,000-unit mark for the first time in company history.

Kia’s historic year included a number of standout performances, including:

  • Optima establishing a new single nameplate record of 159,414 units
  • Soul sales increasing for the sixth straight year
  • Best-ever sales of the Forte, Forte5 and Forte Koup family of compact cars
  • K900 sales nearly doubling and Sedona sales increasing more than 150 percent
  • Combined year-over-year CUV sales – Sportage and Sorento – climbing 16.9 percent
  • The sale of Kia’s six millionth vehicle in the U.S. since 1994
“Even without the benefit of a truck in our lineup, Kia began 2015 as one of Yahoo!’s ‘hottest brands’ and it only got better from there as we outperformed the record-setting industry and posted big gains in several passenger car and CUV segments,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, KMA.

“The new Kia is a recognized leader in design, quality, advanced technology and value, and with three all-new products scheduled to launch in 2016, we will continue challenging everything people think they know about this brand and our world-class products.”
