Jaguar’s new, 200mph-capable supercar and the world’s most demanding race circuit, the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife, are now available to be experienced together with the launch of the ‘Jaguar Co-Pilot Nordschleife’ programme.

This exciting new offer gives visitors and fans the opportunity to experience the thrill of Jaguar’s fastest-ever series production car from the passenger seat on the circuit famed as the ‘Green Hell’.

Customers booking their place for a flying lap in the F-TYPE SVR will be amongst the first to experience its power, speed and enhanced dynamics package around the 12.94-mile (20.83km) Nordschleife circuit.

The F-TYPE SVR has been developed by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations as the ultimate all-weather supercar and is the pinnacle of the successful F-TYPE range. The Jaguar F-TYPE SVR coupé is powered by a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine that develops 575PS and 700Nm of torque and accelerates from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds.

Before each passenger ride begins, all Co-Pilots are equipped with a race suit and helmet plus HANS (Head and Neck Support) system to ensure maximum safety out on the track. To capture the memorable experience, on-board cameras are mounted inside the F-TYPE SVR so that passengers can relive the excitement of their adventure at the Nordschleife circuit.

Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations department has fitted the F-TYPE SVR with a roll cage, Recaro Racing seats, race harnesses for occupant safety and an unmistakable bespoke livery on bright Firesand Orange metallic paint.

Mark Stanton, Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, presented the keys to the unique F-TYPE SVR to Mirco Markfort, CEO Chief Executive Officer, Capricorn, Nürburgring Gmbh this weekend.

Mark Stanton said: “The weather at the Nürburgring is famed for being unpredictable and the new Jaguar F-TYPE SVR is the perfect car to tackle the undulating track in variable conditions. Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division has engineered the F-TYPE SVR to be lighter, faster and more powerful while still remaining a usable supercar every day. The Nordschleife is a fantastic circuit on which to experience all of the engineering enhancements my team has applied to the F-TYPE SVR.”

Also present at the ceremony were Phil Talboys, Jaguar Land Rover European Engineering Operations Manager, and former Formula One racing driver Christian Danner. Danner, who also leads Jaguar Land Rover’s Driving Academy Team in Germany, said: “The enhanced aerodynamics package, uprated chassis and custom transmission calibration makes the F-TYPE SVR one of the best cars to take passengers around this challenging track and experience up to 200mph along the Döttinger Höhe straight.”

Passenger laps in the unique Jaguar F-TYPE SVR are available for 16 consecutive weekends from now until the end of October. The price for the 30-minute passenger thrill ride is €295 per person

Land Rover today announced the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR has been awarded the title of Four Wheeler of the Year by the editors of FOUR WHEELER magazine.

The prestigious award - now in its 43^rd year - is open to all new or significantly updated SUVs and is judged over a week of testing featuring more than 1,000 miles of real-world driving on highways, back roads and a variety of off-road terrain where editors compare on- and off-road performance, overall build quality, features and amenities.

The Range Rover Sport SVR went on sale earlier this year as the first model to wear the high-performance SVR badge from Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO); bringing enhanced on-road performance to a nameplate already well regarded for its off-road prowess.

At the heart of the Range Rover Sport SVR is a specially tuned version of the Land Rover supercharged 5.0L V8 which now produces 550-hp and 502-lb ft. of torque. 

Additional updates include the addition of a new Active Exhaust System, updated transmission shift logic, special suspension and chassis enhancements, as well as a newly engineered aero and performance package, all of which have been proven on Germany's  "Green Hell" where the Range Rover Sport SVR completed a lap of the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife in 8-minutes and 14-seconds.

Complementing its updated on-road performance, the Range Rover Sport SVR features a number of standard amenities which make it a formidable off-roader as well. Key to its off-road versatility is an adjustable air suspension that helps the performance SUV achieve 10.9 inches of minimum ground clearance in off-road height, more than 20-inches of total wheel articulation, as well as approach and departure angles of  30- and 27.3-degrees respectively.

Power is routed to all four wheels via an eight-speed transmission with CommandShift and two-speed transfer case, while individual wheels are selectively controlled with Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVbB) and a suite of Land Rover stability and control systems including Land Rover Terrain Response^® 2. 

On the Range Rover Sport SVR Terrain Response^® 2 can automatically select specific transmission, suspension and traction settings for optimal drivability in a variety of on- and off-road conditions, or at the driver's choosing, be manually selected for any one of six settings including; Automatic; Dynamic; Rock Crawl; Grass, Gravel and Snow; Mud and Ruts; or Sand.

"The Range Rover Sport SVR could have easily eschewed off-road capability in the interest of impressive track numbers, yet it remains pure to the off-road heritage the Land Rover brand was founded on," said FOUR WHEELER Editor Christian Hazel.

This is the fourth time a Land Rover vehicle has won the coveted Four Wheeler of the Year award and the second time the Range Rover Sport has been honored by FOUR WHEELER. 

The Range Rover Sport was recognized as the magazine's Four Wheeler of the Year in 2014 following a significant redesign which brought the current body style to the market.

Land Rover Ambassador and polar explorer, Ben Saunders, swapped his snowshoes for winter tyres to put the Range Rover Sport SVR through its paces at a unique yet familiar test track near the Arctic Circle.

A new film released by Land Rover charts the world famous adventurer’s journey from ice driving novice to experienced veteran in Arjeplog, Sweden, on a full-scale replica of the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit carved in the snow on Lake Udjaur.

With instruction from Land Rover Experience instructor and former rally champion, Finland’s Minna Sillankorva, Ben tackles the unique challenge of driving on ice behind the wheel of Land Rover’s performance flagship, the 550PS Range Rover Sport, complete with its thrilling V8 soundtrack.

Range Rover Sport SVR is the fastest and most powerful Land Rover to date, capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds. It is the first model to wear the SVR designation which will be adopted by future Land Rover and Jaguar high performance models.

Ben Saunders, who has led expeditions to both the North and South Poles, said: “Obviously, I had an amazing day. It was my first time driving on ice and the most fun I’ve had on four-wheels. The performance of the Range Rover Sport SVR is simply breathtaking and its poise in the corners was astounding given the slippery conditions.”

Ben’s experience was aided by a sophisticated suite of features to enhance all-terrain performance, including the latest generation of Land Rover’s advanced Terrain Response^®2 system, which automatically tailors a range of vehicle settings to suit the conditions. In addition, permanent four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case, and a 50/50 percent torque split front-to-rear delivers Land Rover’s trademark capability.

Furthermore, optimum traction is maintained with the aid of an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the centre differential, this distributes torque between the front and rear axles – up to 100 percent can be channelled to either axle in extreme conditions, and the Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential ensures torque is transferred to the rear wheel with most traction, increasing agility.

Another system working to help Ben was Land Rover’s Torque Vectoring by Braking system uses the SVR’s brakes to imitate the effect of a torque-vectoring differential, constantly balancing the distribution of engine torque between all four wheels during cornering, for improved grip and steering responses, to reduce understeer.

This system monitors the vehicle via the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) module.  As it accelerates through a corner, the system uses yaw sensors to detect the onset of understeer. Imperceptible levels of braking are then used to correct the path of the vehicle, while engine torque is transferred to the outside wheels, to maintain traction and steering control.

Land Rover has today released sensational footage of the Range Rover Sport SVR being put through its paces. In the dramatic film, Mike Cross, Chief Engineer Vehicle Integrity, Jaguar Land Rover, demonstrates the adjustability, poise and outstanding body control of the fastest and most powerful Land Rover ever produced.

Mike explains how the Range Rover Sport SVR’s sophisticated drivetrain and advanced four-wheel drive chassis technology deliver supreme high speed handling characteristics as he laps the Rockingham circuit in the UK.

The blisteringly fast SVR has been created by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations team and can accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds. Power comes from a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine developed to produce 550PS and 680Nm of torque.

As this footage shows, the Range Rover Sport SVR takes this level of performance in its stride, displaying superb on-the-limit balance, even with its comprehensive range of electronic traction and stability aids turned off.
