The new BMW M760Li xDrive, comes with a 6.6 litre V12 and is the new Flagship model.

With the new BMW M760Li xDrive, the freshly launched new BMW 7 Series is gaining a prestigious flagship model. Headlined by its exceptional refinement and supreme power delivery at all times, the 12-cylinder petrol engine with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology under the bonnet reinforces the new car’s range-topping status.
The boldly dynamic driving characteristics of the BMW M760Li xDrive combine with superior ride comfort to make a compelling statement and set a new benchmark in the luxury sedan segment.
Powerful and authoritative.
The new BMW M760Li xDrive gives a debut to the new M Performance TwinPower Turbo 12-cylinder petrol engine.

Concealed under a cover bearing “M Performance” lettering, the 6.6-litre V12 develops output of 448 kW/610 hp at 5,500 rpm and peak torque of 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) at 1,550 rpm (fuel consumption combined: 12.8 l/100 km [22.1 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 294 g/km)*. The high-performance unit with leading-edge M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology accelerates the BMW M760Li xDrive from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds on the way to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). If the optional M Driver’s Package is specified, the speed limiter doesn’t cut in until 305 km/h (189 mph). Power transfer is via the state-of-the-art eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission as standard.

The M Performance-specific tuning of the shift programs, delivering sportier gear changes and more instantaneous downshifts throughout the rev range, has been specially adapted to the characteristics of the V12 engine.

With its optimal internal efficiency and a gear-change strategy assisted by navigation data, the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission contributes to the authoritative driving experience and works seamlessly with the standard Auto Start Stop function.

Outperforming its segment rivals in driving dynamics and ride comfort.
The innovative Executive Drive Pro suspension system is a passport to dynamic sharpness and unbeatable ride comfort.

Active roll stabilisation minimises body movements, and the system teams up with performance tyres, fitted to exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in matt Cerium Grey metallic, to give the new BMW M760Li xDrive the best driving dynamics in its class – without impinging on ride comfort.

The rear-biased BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system takes its lead from the available grip levels to distribute engine power to all four wheels as the situation demands. In the process, it delivers the dynamic excellence you’d expect of an M Performance model and a supreme level of performance in all conditions.

Active safety and driving dynamics are also beneficiaries of the standard Integral Active Steering system in the new BMW M760Li xDrive, which complements the more direct steering ratio at the front axle by adjusting the steering angle of the rear wheels according to the situation at hand. This reduces steering effort at low speeds and in dynamic driving, further enhancing agility and active safety.

The new 19-inch M Sport brakes, boasting blue metallic brake callipers and M badging, set the seal on the dynamic armoury of the BMW M760Li xDrive and ensure unbeatable deceleration at all times.

Innovative driver assistance systems.
The new BMW M760Li xDrive is fitted with the same extensive package of innovative driver assistance systems as all variants of the successfully launched BMW 7 Series model range.

The Driving Assistant Plus system includes the Steering and lane control assistant, Lane keeping assistant with active side collision protection, Rear collision prevention and Crossing traffic warning functions.

Meanwhile, the Traffic jam assistant – which involves semi-automated driving – can be used on any type of road. And the Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function now only requires drivers to press a button to incorporate speed restrictions detected by the Speed Limit Info function. The new generation of the Surround View system now also includes a 3D View and Panorama View option in the Control Display.

Dynamic focus underlined by the exterior styling.
In its exterior appearance alone, the new BMW M760Li xDrive embodies the dynamic mission statement of the BMW M Performance Automobiles with unmistakable clarity.

The M aerodynamic package with larger air intakes in the front apron and exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke 760M design with matt Cerium Grey finish guarantee an elegantly sporty appearance.

The exclusive galvanised Cerium Grey finish for the kidney grille frame and the fronts of the grille bars, along with the front apron strip, the strips on the exterior door handles, Air Breathers, side door trim elements and boot lid handle, all add colour accents, subtly highlighting the special status of the BMW M760Li xDrive within the BMW 7 Series model range and the BMW model line-up as a whole.

Other notable exterior features include the mirror caps, likewise in Cerium Grey, V12 badges on the C-pillars, the M logos on the sides of the car and the xDrive lettering and model badge at the rear.

A new M sports exhaust system with flap control generates an emotionally rich V12 soundtrack and adds the finishing touches to the signature M Performance look with its galvanised Cerium Grey twin tailpipe embellishers in exclusive design positioned on either side.

Familiar M Performance accents for the interior, too.
The now familiar BMW M Performance character is also present and correct inside the car. The exclusive M leather steering wheel carries the M logo, has Pearl Gloss Chrome multifunction buttons on its spokes and shift paddles for manual gear changes on the reverse.

Door sill plates with an illuminated V12 logo whet the appetite for the driving pleasure to come, while the instrument cluster contains an exclusive speedometer featuring the model designation and a dial now extending to 330 km/h (205 mph). Like the M pedals and M driver’s footrest, the special speedo points to the performance potential of the BMW M760Li xDrive.

The area of the centre console around the selector level and iDrive Controller is adorned with a BMW Individual decorative inlay in Piano Finish Black and with V12 badging. The optional Touch Command Panel in the rear compartment’s centre armrest hosts a similar V12 identifier.

Comfort features generate a modern and luxurious ambience.
The electrically adjustable front comfort seats with memory function and the Fineline black fine wood interior trim strips with high-gloss metal effect team up with high-quality deep-pile floor mats in the rear compartment and an Alcantara Anthracite headliner to generate a luxurious ambience.

Exclusive Nappa leather trim covers the seat surfaces, seat side sections, head restraints, door cards, centre armrests and side armrests to round off the elegant atmosphere in tasteful style.

BMW M760Li xDrive V12 Excellence option also available.
For customers looking to trade the overtly dynamic appearance of their BMW M760Li xDrive for a more discreet luxurious look, the optional BMW M760Li xDrive V12 Excellence is available at no extra cost.

This character variant significantly alters the personality of the BMW M760Li xDrive, shedding the M aerodynamic package and adding 20‑inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels in W‑spoke 646 design high-gloss polished with mixed-size tyres (front: 245/40 R20, rear: 275/35 R20). There is also a high-gloss Black finish for the brake callipers.

Customers choosing the V12 Excellence model can expect their BMW M760Li xDrive to feature a chrome bar extending across the full width of the car in the upper section of the air intake grille. In addition, the kidney grille bars are in Silver with chrome fronts and surrounds likewise in bright chrome. All the other trim elements on the body also come in bright chrome.

In place of a model designation, the BMW M760Li xDrive V12 Excellence has a “V12” badge on the boot lid. The comfort-oriented exhaust system’s pair of chrome, rectangular tailpipe embellishers are now framed by additional chrome trim.

Inside the car, meanwhile, the BMW steering wheel features wood inlays, and the V12 lettering in the instrument cluster – whose speedometer extends as far as 260 km/h (160 mph) – illuminates when the driver fires up the engine. The comfort-biased exhaust system with its refined soundtrack also helps to accentuate the specific character of the V12 Excellence model.

Intuitive operation with touch display and BMW gesture control.
As in all variants of the new BMW 7 Series, the monitor of the iDrive operating system in the new range-topping BMW M760Li xDrive comes in touch display form. This means customers will be able to navigate around the system in the same way as with modern electronic devices.

In addition to using the Controller to operate the system in the familiar style, its functions can also be selected and activated by touching the screen’s surface.

The iDrive system also features the gesture control system presented in the BMW 7 Series for the first time.
Hand movements detected by a 3D sensor control infotainment functions in an extremely intuitive and user-friendly fashion. The gestures can be used for a number of functions, including controlling the volume in audio applications and accepting or rejecting incoming telephone calls.
There is also the option of pairing a specific gesture with an individual choice of function. Also joining the fray is a new smartphone holder integrated into the centre console, which enables wireless, inductive charging for mobile phones for the first time in a car.

NEW C4 PICASSO: IN DETAIL

DESIGN

Taking advantage of the new EMP2 platform, means there is a reduced overhang (-70mm at the front); a lower engine block (-40mm to -50mm) and floor (-20mm) and wider tracks (+82mm at front and +31mm at the rear). The side signature, a C shape in chrome, adds personality to the side profile.

The assertive front end features new look chevrons which extend out to spectacular hi-tech lights. Slim LED daytime-running lights, positioned just above the headlamps, flank the radiator grille. Fog lamps complete the very original light signature.

The rear LED lights, inspired by Citroën’s concept cars, create a futuristic 3D effect, whilst the enveloping tailgate conveys roominess, strength and dynamism.

New C4 Picasso will be offered in a range of eight colours from Shark Grey, Aluminium, Hickory Brown and Obsidien Black to radiant Ruby Red, Teles Blue and Kyanos Blue. A range of Alloy wheel designs are also available in three sizes – 16”, 17” and 18”.

LOFT-STYLE CABIN

Inside, New C4 Picasso features an uncluttered ambience that includes a panoramic windscreen and large glass roof which bathe the cabin in light. (Combined glazed area of 5.3m2)

With the exclusive Lounge Pack, travelling becomes a first class experience with front massage seats, a ‘Relax’ seat that lets the front passenger stretch out their legs and a Relax headrest on all seats for comforting neck support.

The modern design is also evident in the quality of the materials and attention to detail with new technologies that improve the durability of the materials used, such as,

  • new varnish on the paintwork
  • new soft paint application technology
  • new chrome technologies
  • full-grain leather for greater strength

The asymmetric design dashboard combines several complementary colours and materials. The driver’s side is primarily black fading to a lighter shade on the passenger side with a sparkle effect finish. Satin-finish chrome and gloss black inserts enhance the overall effect. Particular attention was also given to the door panels with the crossbar featuring an original laser engraved pattern.

The graphic effect on the seat design gives the front seats the appearance of a one-piece bench. With an emphasis on elegance and comfort, a light-coloured Nappa leather is also available.

DRIVING INTERFACE

New C4 Picasso’s full digital driving interface is both intuitive and attractive with the uncluttered dashboard structured around two screens – a 7” touchpad and 12” panoramic HD screen.

The brand new standard 7” touchpad features seven touch-sensitive buttons and controls all the in-car functions such as dual-zone air conditioning, navigation, audio, telephone and driving aids.

A 12’’ panoramic HD screen displays essential driving information and can be configured by the driver at any time to show data for either the navigation system or driving aids. A personal photo can even be displayed using a USB as a screen backdrop. The car becomes a real home from home.

Available from 2014, drivers will also have access to Citroën Multicity Connect, a portal of connected applications controlled from the 7” touchpad. The system provides information such as the nearest fuel station, hotel or restaurant, weather updates or traffic reports.

ENJOYABLE & RELAXING

Beyond useful everyday functions such as key less entry and start-up, motorised tailgate and reversing camera, New C4 Picasso features a range of innovations making driving easier and more enjoyable.

360 VISION is an exclusive feature in the segment. Using four cameras around the car to give drivers a bird’s eye view, a rear view or a panoramic front view. The system provides a complete view of the car’s immediate environment, enabling an extended field of vision that makes for easier manoeuvres.
PARK ASSIST is a valuable aid that provides automatic assistance when manoeuvring into a space, whether parking in reverse or at an angle. All the driver has to do is to manage acceleration and braking.
INTELLIGENT ARCHITECTURE

With the new modular EMP2 platform offering a longer wheelbase and increased cabin space, the New C4 Picasso is more compact on the outside with more space on the inside than the previous generation model, setting new benchmarks for the segment.

New C4 Picasso is 40mm shorter but with a 55mm longer wheelbase for class-beating interior space. Boot space is increased by 40-litres to 537-litres VDA – the best in the segment – and expands up to 630-litres with the rear seats pushed forward.

The optimised dimensions – 4.43m L, 1.83m W & 1.61m H – with electric power steering and a 10.8m turning circle mean New C4 Picasso is agile enough to adapt to all driving situations.

New C4 Picasso also sets new standards of modularity. The front passenger seat folds forwards to increase load space by more than 2.5m whilst extending the view for rear passengers. Rear passengers also benefit from three individual, full size seats that can be folded flat or tilted for increased comfort or fore-and-aft adjusted for increased flexibility. Knee space (159mm) is on a par with the best-in-class.

There are a number of clever and convenient storage spaces around the cabin including LED illuminated compartments in the central dashboard with an AUX-in, USB port and 220V socket – ideal for stowing devices whilst charging. On clutch less versions there is a removable console, mounted between the driver and passenger seats with numerous other storage spaces under the seats and in the doors.

CLASS-LEADING EFFICIENCY

The New C4 Picasso is 140kg lighter than its predecessor thanks to the new EMP2 platform, which uses aluminium, very high yield strength steel and a composite rear floor cut to weight by 70 kg. The body style cuts a further 70 kg through optimised exterior dimensions and new materials such as an aluminium bonnet and composite tailgate. The significant weight loss means New C4 Picasso now weighs the same as the C3 Picasso.

The reduced weight, emphasis on aerodynamics (CdA of 0.71) and optimised engine range significantly improves efficiency with emissions falling by an average 30g/km compared to the previous generation model.

At the same time, New C4 Picasso is the first compact MPV with an internal combustion engine to deliver sub-100g/km CO2 emissions. The e-HDi 90 Airdream engine, mated to the new 6-speed clutchless gearbox, emits just 98g/km with fuel economy of 74mpg – a record in the class.

  • Stop & Start technology is fitted on all diesel units with the exception of the HDi 90 manual.
  • The popular e-HDi 115 engine emits just 104g/km CO2 with the 6-speed clutchless gearbox, 105g/km with the manual and delivers 70mpg.
  • New C4 Picasso will be the first Citroën model available with a BlueHDi engine meeting Euro 6 standards. The BlueHDi 150 emits just 110g/km of CO2 and features an SCR module (selective catalytic reduction), currently the most efficient technology for treating NOx (- 90%) and cutting CO₂ emissions in all situations.
  • Alongside the 6-speed manual gearbox, a new 6-speed clutchless gearbox is available. The ETG6 (6-speed Efficient Tronic Gearbox) delivers improved performance and can be integrated into the e-HDi 90 and e-HDi 115 engines.

Drivers can switch from manual to automated mode at any time. The new gearbox features a creep function and optimised pedal mapping, adjusting power effectively for smoother start-ups and enhanced driveability. Gear change speeds are modulated more precisely, based on driver input, for improved performance and comfort. Optimised gear shift patterns improve efficiency further. An automatic 6-speed gearbox will also be available from first-half 2014.

COMFORT & ROADHOLDING

The new generation C4 Picasso maintains the recognised comfort of the model line with improved handling and easier manoeuvrability. The reduced weight and lower centre of gravity establish a new balance between comfort and road holding for improved driveability, safety and suspension.

Refinements – many of which were made possibly by the new EMP2 platform include

Shock absorbers positioned vertically and a vertical axle bolt above the centre of the wheel.
Electric power steering that dampens vibrations transmitted from the road to the steering column
Damping of the front sub frame to reduce road noise
A new dual-material acoustic shim on the rear axle
Fitted on all models, Intelligent Traction Control improves traction on low-grip surfaces, providing comfort and control in all circumstances.

SAFETY

The new C4 Picasso is set to cover more than 2.5million miles of testing through several countries and a full range of driving situations before launch, the New C4 Picasso will deliver a safe and reassuring driving experience. The model also features the highest standards of safety equipment including,

  • Active cruise controlwith a radar sensor in the front bumper maintaining a constant distance with the vehicle in front by detecting slowdown in speed and warning the driver. The system acts on the accelerator and engine brake to reduce or increase speed within a limit 15.5mph. When the road is clear, the car automatically returns to the set speed.
  • Active driver and passenger front seatbelts with motors that pull the belt tight automatically in the event of danger. At the same time, in relation with the video LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System), the belt vibrates to warn the driver if the car crosses a line.
  • An image processing function for the miniature camera built into the rear view mirror, to manage automatic high beam operation, i.e. automatically activating and deactivating high beam lights depending on lighting and traffic conditions. This function is also used by the new-generation more predictive lane departure warning system (video LDWS).
  • An ultrasonic blind spot monitoring system with an orange light in the door mirror that warns drivers if a vehicle is present in their blind spot. Relying on four sensors in the front and rear bumpers, this system is active from 7.5mph – 87mph, scanning the area up to the exterior door mirror at the front, extending to around 5m behind the rear bumper and 3.5m on either side.
  • Citroën eTouch, which provides localised emergency call and assistance (depending on the country), two free 24/7 services relying on a built-in SIM card, which ensure that the vehicle can be located promptly and assistance sent out in the event of an incident or accident.
