  • Hyundai i10 named best in class for fleet operators
  • Expert panel recognises city car’s outstanding comfort, low running costs and generous equipment levels for business users
  • Fleet World honours the Hyundai i10 for second consecutive year, saying it is the ‘product to beat’
The Hyundai i10 has been named as the ‘Best City Car’ in the 2017 Fleet World Honours, recognising it as ‘the car to beat’ for fleet operators. The prestigious awards highlight vehicles that offer the best value, comfort and refinement expected by business drivers.
A panel of judges from Fleet World, an industry title read globally by senior-level fleet decision makers, recognised the i10 as providing an unbeatable combination of superb practicality, generous equipment levels and low running costs. Revisions to the car in 2016 strengthened its offer to fleets, with improved connectivity, safety and comfort.
Fleet World’s Editor, Alex Grant, said: “City cars are a tough product to get right, and the i10 delivers effortlessly.

A subtle refresh last year bolstered an already strong offer with the latest connectivity and safety technology, improved comfort and a sharper drive too. It means this continues to be the product to beat.”
The i10 offers fleet users a choice of seven trim levels and two refined and efficient petrol engines. The highly efficient 1.0 Blue Drive model boasts combined fuel economy of 65.7mpg and just 98g/km CO2 emissions – giving it a highly competitive 16% BIK banding. Standard equipment levels are generous for business drivers, while the mid- and high-specification models feature ‘big car’ technology such as cruise control, a heated leather steering wheel and front seats, keyless entry and start, and full automatic climate control.
Hyundai’s commitment to deliver the best service for fleet operators is reinforced by its provision of exceptionally cost-effective and convenient after-sales care.
Its industry-leading Fleet Aftersales Charter delivers a consistently outstanding experience for fleet customers, setting out transparent pricing and processes, making services easier to use, and helping to reduce the cost of ownership.
Business users who visit a dealership receive free Wi-Fi access and refreshments as well as ‘hot-desk’ facilities for those who wish to wait on site.
Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor UK, said, “It’s the second year in a row that the i10 has been recognised by Fleet World as offering an unbeatable proposition in its class.
This is testament to Hyundai’s efforts in maintaining i10’s outstanding practicality and low running costs, while improving levels of comfort, safety and in-car technology. We are always looking for ways to add value for our business customers, and our award-winning cars are fully supported by an outstanding aftersales offer, not to mention our acclaimed 5 Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty.”

Huntingford commented: “we recommend top-spec Premium SE trim, which now gets class-leading infotainment on a 7.0 inch touchscreen, sat-nav, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and a DAB radio. You also get climate control, heated seats and a heated steering wheel – all on a city car. The rest of the i10 remains as appealing as ever.”
Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor UK said “Since its launch in 2014, i10 has continually received praise from both industry and buyers alike and has become one of the stalwarts of our range. For 2017, we have introduced New i10 which not only introduces a fresh new look but also brings technology to the segment that is usually only found in the classes above.”

Hyundai takes a double win at teh Carbuyer awards with the Ioniq and i10 both winners.

  • Hyundai Motor wins three awards at annual Carbuyer awards
  • IONIQ Hybrid named ‘Best Hybrid’ thanks to its styling, and value for money
  • IONIQ Electric wins ‘Best Road-Tax-Exempt Car’ due to size and mileage capability
  • Hyundai i10 is a favourite as ‘Best Car That’s Cheap To Insure’ for second year
  • Hyundai Motor also receives recognition online for Best City Car – Hyundai i10, Best Innovative Car – Hyundai IONIQ and Best Congestion Charge-exempt for IONIQ EV
Hyundai Motor has excelled in the 2017 Carbuyer awards scooping three awards for the Hyundai i10, IONIQ Hybrid and IONIQ Electric.
The new IONIQ Hybrid was named Best Hybrid, the IONIQ Electric was awarded Best Road-Tax-Exempt and the multi-award winning i10 received the ‘Best Car That’s Cheap To Insure’ title for the second consecutive year.
Stuart Milne, Editor of Carbuyer, explains: “The Hyundai IONIQ is the new hybrid on the block, offering a far more mainstream look than radically-styled rivals.
It’s good to drive, with a conventional dual-clutch automatic gearbox as opposed to the Prius’ CVT. That contributes to a nicer driving experience, too.
It’s capable of around 88mpg fuel economy and if you buy one before April 2017, it won’t cost you anything to tax. The real clincher here, though, is the IONIQ’s price. It’s possible to park one on your driveway for less than £20,000, which is £3,000 less than the cheapest Prius.”
“There are plenty of cars exempt from vehicle excise duty (VED) today, but changes coming into force in April 2017 mean only owners of zero-emission cars will pay no tax. The IONIQ Electric is one of the larger EVs on sale, meaning it makes for good family transport. Plus it’s capable of travelling 174 miles on a charge – more than a Nissan Leaf. Speaking of which, it’s also nicer to drive than the Nissan and has a more upmarket interior, too. Charging takes about four and a half hours from a home wall box, or 30 minutes to 80% from a DC fast charger.”
“The Hyundai i10 is a former Carbuyer Car of the Year and still one of the very best small cars you can buy. If you’re buying a car with running costs firmly in mind, the i10 should be at the top of your list. The entry-level i10 falls in group 2, which is affordable for all. But it's the all-round ability of the i10 that is the clincher here. With low insurance bills, you can still enjoy a small, practical car that's good to drive, spacious and comes with an excellent five-year warranty.”
On Hyundai’s latest award win, Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor UK, commented: “We’re extremely proud that we continue to win such prestigious awards for our constantly evolving product line-up. Receiving two awards from Carbuyer for our latest all-new model, IONIQ is fantastic and a testament to our company’s ongoing commitment to introducing more eco-friendly vehicles across our range and making them accessible to more people.
“i10 is the most awarded car in our portfolio and one of our best-selling models in the UK.  The new i10, on sale in January 2017, builds on that success and features new advanced active safety and connectivity features from the segments above, as well as modern design refinements, including the new signature Cascading front grille.”
Carbuyer is one of the UK’s leading car reviews website, receiving more than 1.4 million unique users a month, viewing a total of more than 5.5 million pages. This year marks the fifth year of the Carbuyer’s awards, with the awards being based on the 20 biggest questions asked by consumers.

The second generation Hyundai i10, gets a makeover and is ready for it's Paris motor Show launch.

  • The evolution of Hyundai Motor’s second-generation i10 comes with young and modern design refinements
  • New i10 offers new advanced active safety and connectivity features usually only found in the segments above
  • Hyundai Motor’s refined A-segment car, designed, developed and produced in Europe, will debut live at the Paris Motor Show 2016

Hyundai Motor’s successful i10 has been enhanced with new advanced active safety and connectivity features from the segments above, as well as modern design refinements, including the new signature Cascading front grille.
“New i10 showcases strong build quality and our passion for detail, while also including many features from the segments above,” said Tony Whitehorn, President & CEO Hyundai Motor UK Ltd. “The impressive package has made the i10 one of the best-selling cars in its class and popular with customers across the UK - a success story that the New i10 is set to carry on.”

Refined design highlights and an enhanced ride
New i10 comes with many design refinements for a more emotionally appealing look, including the new Cascading front grille. It is characterised by its curved natural flowing line and will become the new family identity for Hyundai models in the future. New i10 will be the first Hyundai car on the road with this new signature design feature.
In the front, the New i10 features a new bumper design and new round LED daytime running lights, positioned at the edges of the new Cascading grille. On the rear, New i10 is also characterised by an evolved bumper design, including refined materials on the rear lights, a new black inlay as well as round rear fog lamps mirroring the new front design. Redesigned side mouldings with a new shape and size round off the fresh profile of New i10.
Moving to the interior, New i10 comes with a new shade of red cloth. Customers can now also choose from blue and black interior colours on all trims.
New i10 introduces a new design of 14-inch steel or alloy wheel. Enhancements in ride and handling created by a larger front bump stopper and modified steering gear ratio, round off New i10’s segment-leading package.
Like its predecessor, New i10 will come with the proven choice of two petrol engines, 1.0-litre and 1.25-litre, driving the front wheels through five-speed manual as standard or four-speed automatic gearboxes. The BlueDrive™ model, based on the 1.0-litre petrol variant, includes a number of features to reduce fuel consumption.
All good things come from above – great package of connectivity, convenience and active safety
The New i10 makes advanced technology available to more people than ever before. Responding to customer demand for single connectivity features, New i10 includes the latest connectivity features, all integrated into the new seven-inch touch screen navigation system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto guarantee seamless integration, safe operation and mirrored functionality of mobile devices based on iOS or the Android operating system. In order to be up-to-date at any time, New i10’s navigation system comes with a seven-year free subscription to LIVE Services, offering real-time traffic conditions, local weather and points of interest as well as the position of speed cameras in countries where this is permitted by law. Customers do not even have to choose: New i10 is the only car in its class to offer Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and LIVE Services in a single infotainment system.*
*(Please note it will be available on the high trim only in UK).
In terms of safety, New i10 now comes with two advanced features to actively avoid accidents, both based on the new multi-functional camera: a Front Collision Warning System (FCWS) and a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) (optional on most trims). Using front camera sensors, FCWS alerts the driver acoustically and visually about collision dangers arising from other vehicles. Lane Departure Warning alerts the driver if unsafe movements are made while the car is driving over 60 km/h. The LDWS sounds an alarm before the car moves over lane markings.
On the convenience side, the New i10 scores with the tried and tested feature package of its predecessor: automatic air conditioning, heated steering wheel and front seat warmers, make it an ideal companion for every weather condition and every activity. Up to five people fit into the roomy interior and the segment-leading trunk volume of up to 252 litres offers generous stowage.
Made in Europe, for Europe – the i10 success story
Since its introduction back in 2008 the i10 has been a major success story for Hyundai Motor with around 670,000 units sold by July 2016. That makes it one of the best-selling cars in this segment in recent years.
The original i10 alone with its unique value for money offer achieved over half a million sales in seven years between 2008 and 2014. When the second-generation i10 was introduced in late 2013 the model truly became a European car – designed and developed at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center (HMETC) in Rüsselsheim, Germany, and manufactured at Hyundai Assan Otomotive Sanayi (HAOS) in ĺzmit, Turkey.
The second-generation i10 with its young, modern design and dynamic drivability has been more than capable of keeping up with its predecessor, with more than 220,000 units sold in only three years. The New i10 debuts live for the first time at the Paris Motor Show in early October 2016.
