Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

The British Built Honda Civic Type R has been shortlisted for the What Car ? Readers Award 2016.

  • Honda’s hot hatch up for award for most eagerly anticipated car launch of 2017
  • Reader award nomination good indicator of successful launch
  • Made in Swindon, the new Civic Type R is British built and exported world wide
The British-built Honda Civic Type R has been shortlisted for the coveted What Car? reader award and is among the most eagerly anticipated car launches of 2017.

Made in Swindon and expected in showrooms in the latter half of 2017, the next generation Civic Type R comes hot on the heels of the current car, which was launched in summer 2015.  Debuted as a prototype at the Paris Motor Show back in September, the mass production version is expected to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year.

With over 10,000 readers expected to vote on a list of 2017 car launches compiled by the experts at What Car?, the competition is fierce as the award is a valuable indication of sentiment towards cars being brought to market in the next year.

Honda last won the award in 2015 when the HR-V claimed a massive 25% of the 10,000 votes, and came a close second in 2016 with the NSX.

Philip Crossman, managing director of Honda UK, commented: “The next generation Civic Type R will be the fastest and most extreme version of the Civic to wear the famed red badge in Honda’s history.  Kicking off the year with a win for this car at the most prestigious automotive award ceremony would be a fantastic achievement.  We are incredibly keen to win this award and are asking all Honda fans, customers and lovers of the Type R to get voting!”

The Superb, Superb, has been shortlisted for teh World Car Of The Year,

  • New Superb named as top 10 finalist for one of the industry’s biggest awards
  • Winner to be announced at the 2016 New York International Auto Show
  • New Superb only the second ŠKODA to be nominated for WCOTY Award
The ŠKODA Superb could add to its incredible haul of industry accolades having qualified for the final of the prestigious 2016 World Car of the Year title.
The all-new Superb’s inclusion on the World Car of the Year award 10-car finalist list marks only the second time a ŠKODA has been included in the latter stages of the judging process. It was 2014 when the Octavia managed the same feat.

Since its introduction to the modern era line-up in 2001, ŠKODA’s flagship model has become the benchmark car for space and comfort, with no other sector rival able to match its passenger and load carrying ability. The all-new version builds on this legacy, with improvements in all key areas.
As befits a car at the top of the ŠKODA range, the new Superb is brimming with the latest technology and ŠKODA’s acclaimed Simply Clever features. It is also considerably more efficient thanks to a new range of turbocharged engines that deliver exceptional fuel economy and low CO2 emissions and a kerbweight up to 75kg lighter than its predecessor.
The Superb also excels on the safety front, and is available with Blind spot detection; Rear traffic alert, third-generation Park assist and Traffic jam assist. Publicly unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015, the Superb went on sale in the UK in both Hatchback and Estate forms last September. Prices start from £18,640.
Commenting on the 2016 World Car of the Year qualification, Duncan Movassaghi, Brand Director for ŠKODA UK said: “We regard the new Superb as the most advanced car we’ve ever built and the start of a new chapter in ŠKODA design. To be recognised by the World Car of the Year jury is a great boost to the team responsible for creating such a remarkable car.”
The World Car of the Year is one of the world’s most prestigious and coveted car awards, and has been running since 2005. The panel currently comprises 73 motoring journalists from around the world. The top three finalists will be announced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday March 1st, with the overall winner named at a prize-giving ceremony at the New York Internatonal Auto Show on Thursday March 24th
