British Motor Heritage (BMH) is delighted to announce the addition of the multinational Anglo Parts concern to its already impressive list of Approved Specialists.

Founded in Belgium in 1982 by MG enthusiasts Chris and Bruno Van Gestel, Anglo Parts is now a significant force across Europe, with branches in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, Finland, Luxembourg and the Czech and Slovak Republics. 

As the name suggests, the company supplies ‘Quality Parts for Classic British Cars’; in particular for models of Jaguar, MG, Triumph, Austin-Healey, Mini, Land Rover Defender and the ubiquitous Morris Minor. 

In addition to its enormous stock of car spares, the company can also supply a large selection of accessories and automobilia, from engine tuning parts to flying helmets and tools to enamel signs. 

It prides itself on the speed, price and condition of its parcel deliveries, and most items ordered in the morning are delivered the following day.

Commenting on this latest appointment, BMH’s Managing Director John Yea said:

The first production right hand drive 1967 TR5 Roadster is to be sold by leading classic car restorers Classic Motor Cars

The car will be on display at the Classic & Sports Car show at Alexandra Palace

The first production right hand drive 1967 TR5 Roadster is to be sold by leading classic car restorers Classic Motor Cars (CMC).

This incredibly special car was the first TR5 P1 to be built on the normal assembly line, and is one of only 1,100 to be produced, carrying with it an indisputable history.

Manufactured on the 29th August 1967 by Standard Triumph Motor Company Limited, the car went into the Press Fleet, as well as appearing at the Earls Court motor show of that year.

The production of TR5s lasted a 13 month period, between August 1967 and September 1968.  They were built with a 2.5 litre straight-6-fuel-injected engine, developing around 145 hp.  Fuel injection was incredibly rare in road cars in 1967, causing Triumph to claim that this was the “First British production sports car with petrol injection”.

Managing Director of CMC, Nick Goldthorp said: “This TR5 is in very original condition throughout, having been serviced and maintained to a high standard throughout the last 48 years. A comprehensive and detailed history file confirms the provenance of this distinctive and historic car, which will certainly be a great addition to any car collection.”

The car is unique both inside and out, boasting an interior that has been upheld to an impressive standard over the years.  The car’s mechanics have been rebuilt using only genuine Stanpart parts where needed.  Furthermore, all the parts that have been replaced over time are accompanied by their respective documents, confirming their authenticity.

This iconic car is finished in the exterior colour of Valencia Blue with Black Ambala interior, and is being sold for £79,500.

It will be on display at the Classic & Sports Car show at Alexandra Palace, Stand H100, from Friday 30th October to Sunday 1st November.

An ultra-rare, unrestored and original Aston DB6 Mk 1 Volante Vantage set a new record for Barons.

An ultra-rare, unrestored and highly original 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Mk 1 Volante Vantage set a new record for Barons when it sold for £781,000 at Sandown Park on July 28^th. The highest price ever achieved for a car at a Barons sale, it broke the auction house’s previous record of £739,000, set just three months ago for a 1954 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback ‘barn find’.

The Aston above is the one sold at Auction, the cars below are illustrative examples of models that were sold at the auction, but are not the actual cars.

“We believe this may be a record for an unrestored example of this particular Aston Martin, so these are very exciting times for Barons,” said company director Peter Gascoigne. 

“The past six months since Tony Cavell and I took the reins have seen significant growth in the value and quality of cars across the sales, and in the overall sale results. To have two such cars within three months of each other is truly remarkable.”

The Sandown Park saleroom was packed, and the number of online bidders had swelled by 50% for this sale. Bidding on the Aston – one of just 29 ever made, and believed to be the final such Volante Vantage built – actually started slowly, building gradually from an initial £350,000. 

Then telephone bids began flooding in and the car accelerated rapidly up to the final figure paid by the UK buyer.

Another British classic was second in the popularity charts at the sale. The stunning 1968 Series 1.5 Jaguar E-type 2+2 had been the subject of a comprehensive nut-and-bolt bare metal restoration, and sold for £46,750. 

It was followed by a very impressive, and considerably younger, machine; the 2014 Dax Cobra, which has just 500 miles on the clock, roared past its £20,000 estimate to sell for £32,175.

Barons is now gearing up for its British Heritage, Classic & Collectors’ Sale, at Sandown Park on September 15^th.
