Fiat's latest 500, the S model get tweaked looks, decent MPG, better looks and an allround superior car.

The new FIAT 500S is available to order in the UK with prices starting from just £12,950 OTR. Designed to appeal to customers who want the compact dimensions, low running costs and cheeky appeal of the FIAT 500 but in a sportier package, the new FIAT 500S has been comprehensively restyled with new sports bumpers front and rear, special side skirts and a rear spoiler, while the door handles, tailgate, “moustache”, mirror fairings and 15-inch alloy wheels are finished in exclusive “Satin Graphite”.


The FIAT 500S is also equipped with front fog lamps, tinted rear windows, a chrome-finish tailpipe, black-grained front air intakes and an eye-catching honeycomb grille. The standard 15-inch alloy wheels with their special “Satin Graphite” finish, and the optional 16-inch alloy wheels with a matt-black diamond treatment, are both new to the range while the colour palette has grown to include Electronica Blue metallic and Marching Green matte.
Inside, the new FIAT 500S is enhanced by black sport seats and a black roof lining which contrast with the door panels and seat edges, which are finished in blue, white or yellow. 
“Satin Graphite” detailing also features on the dashboard fascia and the special sports steering wheel and the interior can also be trimmed in optional Frau leather with white or light blue details for a splash of additional luxury. 
A full-colour, seven-inch TFT instrument display is standard on the new 500S, while the FIAT 500S Convertible adds an electric canvas roof with a heated glass rear window.
The dashboard of the new FIAT 500S incorporates FIAT’s new Uconnect™ seven-inch HD LIVE touchscreen with  a high resolution display as standard equipment. 
This system offers a wide range of functions, including Uconnect™ LIVE services, Bluetooth hands-free phone calling, voice recognition and a multitude of entertainment options including Bluetooth streaming, USB connectivity, a 3.5mm auxiliary jack, DAB digital radio and FM/AM radio. The system can be upgraded with the latest 3D TomTom navigation system for an additional £250.
The exclusive BeatsAudio™ sound system also debuts on the new FIAT 500S, priced at just £300. Developed in conjunction with Beats by Dr. Dre, the seven-speaker system has a total output of 440 watts and features a digital amplifier integrating an advanced equalisation algorithm, which can recreate the entire sound spectrum that an artist experiences during studio recording.
In terms of safety, the FIAT 500S is equipped with seven airbags as standard equipment, including a driver’s side knee bag, as well as ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) and a sophisticated ESC (Electronic Stability Control) system with ASR (Anti Slip Regulation), Hill Holder and HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistance) to assist in emergency braking.
Four engines power the FIAT 500S so there’s a version for every taste and budget: The 69hp 1.2-litre petrol and the 85hp 0.9 TwinAir petrol are both available with a five-speed manual or optional five-speed Dualogic automated manual transmission, while the 105hp 0.9 TwinAir petrol is fitted with a 6-speed manual as standard. 
FIAT remains the only brand to offer diesel-powered cars – FIAT 500, FIAT 500S and FIAT Panda – in the segment and the 95hp 1.3 litre MultiJet II in the 500S employs the best of today's small diesel engineering technology to reduce emissions to just only 89 grams of CO2 per kilometre and offer an official combined-cycle fuel efficiency figure of 83.1mpg.
The new FIAT 500S is on sale in the UK now, priced from £12,950 OTR when powered by the 1.2-litre 69hp petrol engine. The 85hp TwinAir version is priced from £14,250 OTR while the TwinAir 105hp is just £14,730 OTR. The FIAT 500S 1.3 MultiJet II 95hp is priced from £15,350 OTR.

Volkswagen commercial see's significant growth wmost models growing in sales, over the January - May period.

  • 195,200 vehicles delivered worldwide
  • Significant growth of 7.9 per cent in Western Europe
  • In Germany the brand delivers 49,700 vehicles
  • T model range in double figures with 11.2 per cent growth
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles delivered 195,200 light commercial vehicles to customers from January to May, an increase of 5.7 per cent. In this period, the T model range was the top seller: the Transporter, Caravelle, Multivan and California achieved a worldwide delivery increase of 11.2 per cent at over 81,400 units. 
With a figure of 40,100 units delivered in the single month of May, brand sales were considerably higher than in the same period last year (+8.7 per cent).

Bram Schot, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles responsible for Sales and Marketing, said: "We are very satisfied with developments in our sales situation in the month of May. This is also due to excellent work undertaken by our dealer network in the past few months. A lot of the feedback from our customers is positive; our product portfolio is well received."
In Germany, 49,700 vehicles (+4.4 per cent) were delivered to customers during the first five months of the year. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also increased sales in the European volume markets of Spain (+27.4 per cent to 5,600 vehicles), Italy (+26.3 per cent to 4,500 vehicles) and France (+20.1 per cent to 8.000 vehicles). In Eastern Europe the brand reported a rise of 8.2 per cent with 13,900 deliveries.
Outside Europe the following regions reported increases: North America (+19.6 per cent to 3,000 vehicles), South America (+4.0 per cent to 15,500 vehicles) and the Middle East (+1.8 per cent to 14,000 vehicles). Only Brazil (-17.9 per cent to 4,300 vehicles) and the African region (-14.6 per cent to 6,100 vehicles) recorded decreases in vehicle deliveries due to continuing difficulties in the general conditions there.
Deliveries by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles from January to May by model:
  • 81,400 vehicles from the T model range (73,200; +11.2 per cent)
  • 64,300 vehicles from the Caddy range (61,800; +4.0 per cent)
  • 30,300 vehicles from the Amarok range (30,100; +0.9 per cent)
  • 19,100 vehicles from the Crafter range (19,400; -1.8 per cent)

BMW Group has it's best May ever with growing sales around the world, MINI and Motorrad rise too.

The BMW Group achieved its best-ever May in terms of sales with a total of 198,354 vehicles delivered to customers around the world, an increase of 5.3% on the same month last year. This continuing growth means the company’s automotive sales in the year-to-date are 5.0% higher than at the same point in the year in 2015, with a total of 935,288 vehicles sold globally so far this year.

“Our sales continue to show sustainable growth, well in line with our expectations,” said Dr Ian Robertson, Member of the BMW AG Board of Management with responsibility for Sales and Marketing BMW. “Our target is to ensure profitable growth in sales and thanks to our attractive model line-up, that’s what we are achieving,” he continued.
Sales of BMW brand vehicles totalled 168,129 in May, an increase of 5.6% on the same month last year. In the year-to-date, sales are up 5.0% with a total of 797,457 vehicles delivered to customers around the world. May saw strong growth in the sales of many BMW models such as the BMW 2 Series (16,823 / +47.6%), the BMW X1 (13,884 / +47.8%), the BMW X4 (4,947 / +13.0%) and the BMW 7 Series (4,539 / +32.4%).
Meanwhile sales of the brand’s recently introduced plug-in hybrid models continued to see sales grow, especially in markets which actively encourage customers to purchase an electric vehicles. For example, the BMW 330e iPerformance went on sale in Europe in March and already in May, almost every eighth BMW 3 Series sold in the UK and more than a quarter of all BMW 3 Series sold in the Netherlands was a plug-in hybrid version of the world’s best-selling premium model range.
MINI sales also grew in May with a total of 29,864 vehicles delivered worldwide, an increase of 3.6% on the same month last year. Year-to-date, MINI sales are up 5.2% to total 136,617 in the first five months. The brand’s main growth drivers in May were the MINI Convertible (3,604 / +116.7%) and the MINI Clubman, which was delivered to a total of 4,681 customers around the world last month.
In Europe, combined monthly sales of BMW and MINI totalled 91,347 in May, up 11.9% compared with the same month last year. Sales in Germany increased 14.3% (21,829), while a total of 7,218 MINI and BMW vehicles were delivered to customers in France (+12.3%) and a total of 7,005 vehicles were sold in Italy (+16.0%). Overall year-to-date sales for BMW and MINI in Europe total 432,545, an increase of 10.3%.
Asia also saw steady growth in BMW and MINI sales last month with a total of 58,725 vehicles delivered to customers in May (+6.3%). The region’s biggest market, Mainland China, achieved a 7.1% increase compared to the same month last year, with a total of 40,123 vehicles sold. Monthly sales in South Korea grew 14.4%, with a total of 5,250 vehicles sold, while customer deliveries in Japan increased 5.2% to total 5,264 in the month. In the first five months of the year, a total of 293,188 BMW and MINI vehicles were sold in Asia, an increase of 6.2% compared to the same period last year.
Sales of BMW and MINI in the Americas decreased 7.3% in May compared with the same month last year, with a total of 42,066 vehicles delivered to customers in the region. May sales in the USA are down 8.8% (33,612). Year-to-date sales of BMW and MINI vehicles in the Americas region total 180,099 which is down 7.9% compared with the same period last year.
Sales continue to grow at BMW Motorrad where May saw a total of 15,180 motorcycles and maxi-scooters delivered to customers, an increase of 1.2% on the same month last year. Year-to-date figures show an increase of 4.5% (65,761).

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet is now available to order, priced from £36,200 OTR. First UK deliveries will arrive in September.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet is now available to order, priced from £36,200 OTR. First UK deliveries will arrive in September.The C-Class Cabriolet comes in two trim lines, Sport and AMG Line, and with a choice of six engines. The range starts with the C 200 which has a 2.0-litre (184 hp) petrol engine and delivers 47.1 mpg on the combined cycle. 
It is available with either a six-speed manual or 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission. The C 300 features the same 2.0-litre engine with a higher output of 245 hp, and offers up to 42.2 mpg on the combined cycle. It is available only with the 9G-TRONIC gearbox.

The Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Cabriolet is powered by a 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 367 hp. It can sprint from standstill to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds. The C 43 comes with a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic gearbox as standard, with an adapted shift programme.
Two diesel engines are available: the 170 hp C 220 d (available in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive), with a six-speed manual (rear-drive only) or 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic gearbox; and the C 250 d, which produces 204 hp and comes with a 9G-TRONIC gearbox.
There is a choice of four colours for the electrically-operated multi-layer acoustic soft-top (which can be raised or lowered up to 31 mph): black; dark blue; dark red; and dark brown. Each is available as a no-cost option.
Two model lines are available: Sport and AMG Line. Standard equipment includes Airscarf; Aircap; Memory Package; reversing camera; keyless start and entry (auto only); Garmin Map Pilot navigation system; Mirror Package; heated seats; Active Parking Assist; Agility Control comfort suspension; LED headlights; ambient lighting (auto only); DAB radio; and sports seats in Artico leather.
The Sport model comes with a gloss black interior trim with brushed aluminium, 17-inch alloy wheels and a diamond grille with black-painted pins.
For a £1,495 price increase over Sport, AMG Line includes black ash wood trim with brushed aluminium; an AMG sports steering wheel with flat bottom; brushed steel sports pedals and a black roof lining. The exterior features an AMG bodystyling kit; 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels; a diamond grille with chrome pins and 15mm lowered sports suspension.
The Mercedes-AMG C 43 adds the following as standard: 18-inch alloys with five-spoke design; AMG performance exhaust system; brake pads with ‘AMG’ lettering; Artico and Dinamica upholstery; black mirror housings; and ‘BITURBO 4MATIC’ lettering on the front wings.
Premium Plus package is available as an option on the the C-Class Cabriolet for £1,395. This includes the COMAND Online infotainment system and Burmester surround sound system (consisting of 13 speakers).
The Driving Assistance Package (£1,695) – only available in conjuction with automatic transmissions – includes: active blind spot assist; active lane-keeping assist; Distronic Plus with steering assist; BAS Plus with crosswind assist; Pre-safe Plus; and Pre-safe Brake with pedestrian detection.
The range-topping Mercedes-AMG C 63 Cabriolet costs £65,685. With a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine and AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed automatic gearbox, the C 63 produces 476 hp and 650 Nm, and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds. The £72,245 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S produces 510 hp and 700 Nm, with zero to 62 mph taking 4.1 seconds.
Standard equipment on the C 63 Cabriolet includes: AMG steering wheel in Nappa leather; Nappa leather upholstery; AMG performance exhaust system; spoiler lip (in vehicle colour); and ‘V8 BITURBO’ lettering on the wings. The C 63 S adds: AMG performance seats (£1,405 option on C 63); AMG steering wheel in Nappa leather and Dinamica; 19-inch alloys; an electronic rear-axle limited-slip differential.
For £1,295, the optional Premium Package features: Intelligent Light System with adaptive highbeam assist; Burmester surround sound; and Artico dashboard (with Nappa leather look).
As with the C-Class Coupé, a limited-edition C63 S Edition 1 is available from launch. It features unique details including diamond-stitched nappa leather upholstery in black and brown; matt carbon fibre interior trim; bespoke 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, and is available for £78,295.
