Despite drawing near to the end of its model life, Dodge is intent on making sure the 2014 Dodge Journey leaves on the highest of high notes. Last year, the midsize crossover SUV experienced its best-selling year to date.
At the Chicago Auto Show, the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroads was introduced, slotting above SXT models but below the R/T. Now, Dodge has just introduced the 2014 Dodge Journey SE V-6 AWD, which is new since Dodge had not previously offered its more basic Journey with all-wheel drive.
Powered by the same robust 3.6-liter V-6 as the SXT and R/T models, the Journey is capable of producing 283 horsepower and delivering 24 mpg on the highway. Now, all-wheel drive will set customers back $25,890, including $995 for destination and handling, undercutting the SXT by $1,800. Lacking some features like Chrysler's 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system--the SE comes with a 4.3-inch in-dash screen--the seven-passenger crossover still comes with plenty of features, including 17-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, and tinted windows.
When we drove the 2013 Dodge Journey last year, we were surprised and impressed by the features content and value provided by the three-row SUV. We did note, however, that its chassis was not designed to handle all of the power of the V-6, which was added partway through the vehicle's life. The 2014 Dodge Journey SE V-6 AWD is on sale now at dealerships nationwide. Act fast before Dodge introduces another special edition of the Journey, thus invalidating the confidence you put into buying this one.
