I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

Back-to-back wins as ŠKODA is named top for dependability by J.D Power with two models winning their segments.

  • Back-to-back wins as ŠKODA is named top for dependability by J.D Power
  • ŠKODA improved score over 2015 and extended lead over rivals
  • More than 13,000 owners surveyed
  • Fabia and Yeti both named most dependable models in their sectors

It’s official: ŠKODA ranks as the top automotive brand in the UK for vehicle dependability. The Czech manufacturer has recorded back-to-back victories in the J.D. Power UK Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) – with two models topping their sector for quality and reliability.

The study, now in its second year, measured problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of vehicles in the UK after 12-36 months of ownership. The findings were based on responses from more than 13,000 owners of 2013-2015 models.

J.D. Power examined 177 problem symptoms across eight categories: engine and transmission; vehicle exterior; driving experience; features/controls/displays (FCD); audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN); seats; heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC); and vehicle interior.

Overall dependability was determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality.
ŠKODA ranked the highest for vehicle dependability with a score of 66 PP100 – an even better result than the brand recorded in 2015 and 13 points clear of its nearest rival. The overall industry average was 113 PP100.
The 2016 survey also studied vehicle dependability in key sectors and, once again, ŠKODA models were at the top. The Fabia was ranked at the most dependable car in the Small Car category, while the Yeti finished top of the Compact SUV sector. The Octavia also performed well, finishing second in the Compact Car category.

  • Record first half-year registrations  - 42,233 cars (+7 per cent on 2015)
  • Record Fabia half-year registrations  - 11,146 cars (+23 per cent on 2015)
  • Record Superb half-year registrations – 5,516 cars (+71 per cent on 2015)
  • Record fleet half-year registration – 22,263 cars (+2 per cent on 2015)
  • Record June registrations – 9,035 cars  (+11 per cent on 2015)
  • Record June market share – 3.5 per cent (3.1 per cent in 2015)
  • Record order take in the first six months of 2016 (+11 per cent on 2015)
ŠKODA has recorded its best ever six-month sales period in the UK, with a staggering 42,233 new cars registered from January to June.  That’s almost 1,000 more vehicles than the brand sold in the entire 12 months of 2010 (41,240). Compared to a figure of 39,463 units for January to June 2015, it means a growth of 11 per cent and gives the brand a year-to-date market share of 3 per cent.

ŠKODA’s share of the new car market in the UK also rose in June, despite the overall market seeing a 0.8 per cent decline. The Czech brand’s sales are up year-on-year according to SMMT figures released yesterday, with 9,035 finding new homes - making it ŠKODA’s best ever June in the UK, 900 vehicles ahead of the same period in 2015.
Market share for the month of June was 3.53 per cent; year-to-date market share for the brand stands at 3 per cent.
ŠKODA also experienced a record number of customer orders during the first six months of 2016, 11 per cent up on 2015.
Growth for the brand has been evident across both retail and fleet sectors with the former enjoying a 12.8 per cent increase over the same six-month period of 2015, and fleet sales up 2.3 per cent.
Demand across ŠKODA’s model range this year has remained strong.  Of particular note was the phenomenal demand for the Fabia super-mini, which is up 22.8 per cent on the same period last year, and the incredible demand for the flagship Superb, up 70.6 per cent on 2015 – a record in the UK!
Duncan Movassaghi, Brand Director at ŠKODA UK said; “This is a thrilling result. We have long made cars which offer great engineering and exceptional value-for-money.  With the introduction of our new design language, in the latest generation Fabia and Superb models in particular, we also have cars which offer striking contemporary design, too. This is a healthy foundation from which we will build the brand.  With the imminent arrival of Kodiaq, our large seven-seater SUV, everyone in ŠKODA is excited about the future.”

The family of Britain’s company car drivers play a crucial role in selecting their vehicles, according to new research.

  • One third of men and half of women consult their partner when selecting a company car
  • Kids have a say too; 15% of households select a car based on their children’s opinions
  • Company cars are used for non-work journeys for 55 minutes a day
The husbands, wives and children of Britain’s company car drivers play a crucial role in selecting their vehicles, according to new research.
Figures from ŠKODA demonstrate just how much Brits, whose jobs require them to spend time on the road, take their family’s opinions into consideration when making up their minds on a new set of wheels.

When asked who they consult with when choosing a company car, nearly half of drivers said their partner is their first port of call – a quarter of men seek their wife’s opinions (39%) and over half of women (51%) chat through options with their husbands.
Meanwhile, in around one in seven households (15%), children get a say - with many of those surveyed claiming their kids’ opinions matter most.
In general, men seek fewer opinions than women, with 11% claiming they don’t consult anyone at all. Conversely, more than a third of women (35%) ask for opinions from as many people as possible, even probing colleagues and friends about what they think.
ŠKODA’s research also reveals the role of a company car outside the ‘nine to five’. On average, corporate vehicles are used for 55 minutes a day for non-work purposes.
Nearly half of company car drivers take children to and from school (47%) in their ‘work wheels’, while almost three quarters (73%) ferry their kids to social occasions and sports practice every week.
Henry Williams, Head of Fleet at ŠKODA UK, commented: “At ŠKODA, we understand a company car isn’t just used for business, it’s also for home life. Our models combine cutting-edge technology and affordable company car tax rates, with features that families love – particularly spacious interiors and high levels of practicality.”
In June 2016, ŠKODA occupied the top two positions in the Carbuyer guide to the best family cars, with the ŠKODA Superb Estate in 1st place and the ŠKODA Octavia Estate in 2nd.

ŠKODA secures best ever April fleet sales with a record market share of 3.9% achieved for the month.

  • ŠKODA secures best ever April fleet sales
  • Record market share of 3.9% achieved for the month
  • New benchmarks also set in Q1 2016
ŠKODA UK has announced a record-breaking April, following another outstanding month for fleet sales. ŠKODA posted 1,770 fleet sales in April 2016 (up from 1,615 in the same month last year) and achieved an all-time high market share of 3.9% for the month.

This growth – driven in no small part by the arrival of award-winning fleet favourite, the all-new ŠKODA Superb – followed an exceptional first quarter. Between January and March, ŠKODA secured 4,477 fleet sales – an 8% increase on 2015.
The sales success coincides with a number of awards, with the Superb taking the Fleet News and Fleet Worldtitles for Best Upper Medium Car earlier this year, as the brand continues to grow its offering for corporate customers and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Henry Williams, Head of Fleet for ŠKODA UK, commented: “We’re thrilled to announce this has been the best ever April for ŠKODA UK’s fleet operation. Our outstanding models, coupled with our compelling financial offerings, make ŠKODA an obvious choice for fleet managers, large and small businesses, and user choosers – and our record sales are testament to that.”
