Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

USA - Cadillac adds a new Carbon Black Sport package to the CTS and ATS Sedan and Coupe models.

PGRADES REFLECT AND COMPLEMENT CADILLAC’S PRODUCT EXPANSION
Cadillac’s ATS and CTS product lines receive key refinements for 2017, including new, more streamlined trim levels that further emphasize the cars’ class-leading driving dynamics.
Renamed for consistency across the Cadillac showroom, the new trim levels for Cadillac ATS sedans and coupes – ATS, Luxury, Premium Luxury and Premium Performance – and Cadillac CTS sedans – CTS, Luxury, Premium Luxury, V-Sport and V-Sport Premium – move ATS and CTS more in line with two recently launched Cadillac entries, the first-ever Cadillac CT6 prestige sedan and first-ever Cadillac XT5 luxury crossover.

2017 Cadillac ATS and CTS models receive a Carbon Black sport package, two new exterior colors and new wheels that complement the bold, unmistakably Cadillac signature exterior and interior designs.
Additional upgrades and enhancements for the Cadillac CUE infotainment system include new standard technologies like the myCadillac Mobile App, Teen Driver and Cadillac Collection.
The 2017 Cadillac ATS Turbo Sedan, the fastest, most powerful turbo-four luxury sedan in its class, becomes the entry point to the Cadillac ATS Sedan and Coupe family. Cadillac CUE – the centerpiece of the ATS’ comprehensive collection of technologies, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto advanced smartphone integration and available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot – is now standard for 2017 ATS Sedans and Coupe models, making the ATS one of the most connected cars in the segment.
The 2017 Cadillac CTS features a new grille design in the front fascia and an all-new rear fascia with vertical exhaust orientation and valence panel changes.
The front fascia in the CTS V-Sport and CTS-V remains unchanged. Rear Camera Mirror, the industry’s first application of full-display rearview mirror technology that debuted in the 2016 Cadillac CT6 prestige sedan, is available in Cadillac CTS models in 2017.
The Cadillac ATS product line is Cadillac’s most compact and sporty entry, setting into motion the current era of Cadillac driver’s cars offering exhilarating performance. Originally introduced as a 2013 model, ATS won both the North American Car of the Year and Esquire Car of the Year award that year.
Built on an ultra-rigid, rear-wheel-drive chassis that also underpins the larger Cadillac CTS, the ATS line added a dynamic Coupe model in 2015.  The high-performance ATS-V Sedan and Coupe — the smallest and lightest V-Series models ever — were added in 2016.
The Cadillac CTS Sedan, which began its third generation in 2014, has been named a Car and Driver “10 Best” for three years in a row and received Motor Trend’s 2014 Car of the Year award.
Built on the same ultra-rigid, rear-wheel-drive chassis that underpins the smaller Cadillac ATS Sedan and Coupe models, the CTS lineup included a performance CTS V-Sport model for the first time in 2014 and added the much-anticipated third generation, high-performance CTS-V super sedan in 2016.
The 2017 Cadillac product refinements follow and complement Cadillac’s product expansion, which debuted with the all-new Cadillac CT6 prestige sedan and the all-new Cadillac XT5 luxury crossover.

USA - General Motors expands into a third shift at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant to meet demand.

General Motors is adding a third shift and more than 500 hourly and salaried jobs at Lansing Grand River Assembly to meet forecasted market demand for the award-winning 2016 Chevrolet Camaro.

The addition of a third shift will increase the plant’s workforce to approximately 2,300 when hiring is completed.

The sixth generation Camaro, which began shipping to customers in November, as well as the award-winning Cadillac CTS and ATS are also produced at Lansing Grand River.

Since its introduction, the Camaro has earned praise from customers and media alike. Motor Trend editors named the Camaro the Motor Trend Car of the Year for 2016, saying “The Chevrolet Camaro is a better, more entertaining car to drive than a BMW 3 Series.”

Third shift hiring is underway at the plant, and the shift is scheduled to begin in second quarter.

“This is the result of the award-winning vehicles Lansing Grand River produces and the confidence GM has in our team to build world-class quality for our customers,” said Lansing Regional Plant Manager Mike Trevorrow.

Said UAW Local 652 President Mike Green: “This is an exciting time at LGR. We just added the Chevrolet Camaro to our vehicle line up and now we get to expand the UAW-GM family, which will bring the plant to full capacity. What a great way to start the New Year!”

Built in 2001, Lansing Grand River is GM’s second-newest U.S. assembly plant and manufactures the Camaro and the ATS and CTS as well as their V-series performance versions, on a single production line.

USA SALES NOVEMBER - GM - Even with fewer selling days in November sales were up across the brands.

  • Chevrolet truck sales rise for 20th consecutive month
  • Chevrolet crossovers up for 12th consecutive month
  • GMC sets average transaction price record fueled by Denali sales
  • Commercial deliveries up for 25th consecutive month
General Motors’ (NYSE: GM) Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac brands sold 229,296 vehicles in the United States in November 2015, up 2 percent year over year, with two fewer selling days and sales incentives below the industry average. On a selling-day-adjusted basis, GM’s total sales were up 10 percent.
Sales of Chevrolet trucks rose 10 percent for the 20th consecutive monthly increase. Chevrolet crossovers were up 35 percent for the 12th consecutive monthly increase.

Crossover deliveries were also robust at Buick, where Encore sales, up 12 percent year over year, have now increased for 23 consecutive months. Total Buick crossover sales were up 11 percent. At GMC, crossover deliveries rose 12 percent, driven by a 16 percent gain for the Terrain. Cadillac’s crossover, the SRX, saw a 53 percent increase. Industry-wide, crossovers now account for 40 percent of the retail industry, up from 37 percent a year ago.
“The phenomenal growth of crossovers in a record-setting market is the biggest sales story of 2015,” said Kurt McNeil, GM’s U.S. vice president of Sales Operations. “Buick was one of the pioneers of the fast-growing small crossover segment with the Encore. Chevrolet’s crossover sales growth is far outpacing the rest of the industry, thanks to the Trax, Equinox and Traverse. And the GMC Terrain is on track to have its best year ever.”
GM’s retail sales were up 4 percent year over year. Adjusted for selling days, GM retail sales were up 14 percent. GM gained an estimated 1.0 points of retail market share to reach 16.5 percent during the month for the company’s eighth consecutive year-over-year increase.
Deliveries to commercial customers were up 6 percent year over year and government deliveries were up 2 percent. Rental sales were down 16 percent per plan. Total fleet sales were down 9 percent.
The seasonally adjusted annual selling rate (SAAR) for light vehicles was an estimated 18.2 million units in November. The six-month moving average for the SAAR is now estimated to be 17.9 million units. The industry’s best sales year ever was 2000, when 17.8 million light vehicles were delivered.
“We believe U.S. auto sales will continue to grow in 2016, based on the underlying strength of the economy, and we expect customers will continue to embrace crossovers and SUVs because they are meeting their fundamental needs for utility, comfort and fuel efficiency,” said Mustafa Mohatarem, GM chief economist.
GM is also building significant momentum in the passenger car and pickup truck markets. At last month’s Los Angeles International Auto Show, the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado diesel was named Motor Trend Magazine’s Truck of the Year – a repeat victory for the truck. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro was named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year, and the 2016 Chevrolet Volt was named Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal. In addition, the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu begins shipping to dealers today.
