The new Impreza from Subaru, gets it's European Debut at the next Frankfurt Show.

  • Second model in Europe to feature Subaru’s new global platform.
  • Fully redesigned. Packed with award-winning safety features including EyeSight as standard.
  • Unveiling during Subaru press conference on 12 September 2017.
Subaru are pleased to announce that the All-New Impreza will be unveiled at the 67th Frankfurt International Motor Show on the 12th September.
Impreza has been built to be safe and secure with a fun driving experience, and comes equipped with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and Boxer engine. Impreza is the second model to launch on the Subaru Global Platform and has an 5mm lower centre of gravity than outgoing Impreza, improving handling stability, hazard avoidance and increasing steering response.
New safety features are fitted as standard including EyeSight, Subaru’s advanced driver assist technology. The new iteration aims to offer world-class collision safety for total peace of mind and an engaging driving experience.
Across the globe, the All-New Impreza was awarded Japanese Car of the Year in December 2016. Impreza has also received high safety scores at the crash safety evaluations in the regions where tests have been conducted. In the US, Impreza made the Wards 10 Best Interiors list for interior design and styling, and for its easy-to-use multimedia system.
The Impreza model was first launched in 1992. Since then, approximately 2.5 million units have been sold worldwide and 250,000 units across Europe.

USA - Subaru takes their segments for the 2nd year running in the KBB Resale value lists.

  • Subaru earns Best Resale Value for Impreza, Legacy and WRX
  • All three models win their segments for second consecutive year

Kelley Blue Book, the leading provider of new and used vehicle valuation and information, announced today that Subaru won 2017 Best Resale Value for Impreza, Legacy and WRX in their respective categories for the second year in a row.  WRX also placed in the Best Resale Value Top 10 for the second consecutive year.

Best Resale Value: Compact Car
2017 Subaru Legacy
Best Resale Value: Mid-Size Car
2017 Subaru WRX
Best Resale Value: Sporty Compact Car
Best Resale Value: Top 10
The Best Resale Value Awards recognize 2017 model-year vehicles for their projected retained value through the initial five-year ownership period.

Since depreciation (or loss of value) is typically a car-buyer’s primary expense during ownership, these awards, like all of the KBB.com new- and used-vehicle information, are designed to help consumers make more informed car-buying decisions.
“We are pleased to receive the 2017 Best Resale Value Award for Legacy, WRX, and the all-new Impreza from Kelley Blue Book” said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc.

“These awards underscore our commitment to providing customers with vehicles made to the highest standards of safety, reliability and dependability.”
Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Awards are in their 15th year and are based on projections from the Kelley Blue Book Official Residual Value Guide. Kelley Blue Book Residual Values are established by experienced automotive analysts that review statistical models built upon millions of transactions.

Vehicles that earn the highest five-year residual values, expressed as a percentage of their original Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP), are selected for these prestigious awards. Low-volume vehicles and vehicles with an MSRP of more than $60,000 are excluded from award consideration, except in the electric, luxury, sports car, and high-performance categories.

The 2017 Subaru Impreza has taken the Japanese Car Of The Year Award.

  • The Subaru Impreza polled strongly to pull away from the Toyota Prius to win the 2017 Car of the Year Japan award.
At an award ceremony held inside the Tokyo International Exchange Center on Tokyo Bay, the Subaru Impreza polled 420 votes to triumph over the Toyota Prius by 49 votes and win the 2017 Car of the Year Japan (COTY).
In a close battle for third, the Audi A4 polled 149 votes and captured the Import Car of the Year trophy, just 4 votes ahead of the strong finishing Volvo XC90.
This win gives Subaru only its second ever COTY trophy and its first in 13 years. In accepting the award, Impreza chief engineer Kazuhiro Abe said, “When we started developing the Impreza over 4 years ago, never did I imagine I’d be standing here today with such a prestigious award.
This must be what it feels like to win an Olympic gold. The Impreza’s new global platform has great meaning for the company moving forward and will underpin nearly all of our cars over the next decade.
On behalf of all of my R&D team, I’d like to thank the jurors for their support of this car.”
Japan’s COTY organisation is made up of 59 jurors who each start with 25 votes and must give their most highly rated vehicle 10 votes. Their remaining 15 votes are then spread across their next best 4 cars.
Each juror must vote for 5 cars out of the final Top 10.
After 20 jurors’ votes had been read out, the difference between the Impreza and Prius was only 9 votes, 138 to 129 votes respectively. So a close finished was expected.
However, when the 40th juror’s votes were revealed, the Impreza’s lead had jumped to 27 votes. And in the end, the Subaru breezed it in to pick up an easy victory with 420 votes to the Prius’ 371.
The Nissan Serena captured the Innovation Award for its Propilot driver-assist, hands-free sliding door technology and clever seat arrangement, while the Daihatsu Move Canbus won the Small Mobility award for its packaging.
Given high marks for its performance and handling, the BMW M2 triumphed in the Emotional Award, while the Honda NSX picked up the Car of the Year Japan steering committee’s Special Award for its revolutionary V6 twin-turbo hybrid powertrain.

USA - The first All New Subaru Impreza rolls of the production lines at the US Subaru production facility.

Highly-anticipated all-new 2017 Subaru Impreza will be built in Subaru of Indiana Automotive Plant
The first all-new 2017 Subaru Impreza rolled off the assembly line at Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA), officially launching the first-ever American-made Impreza from the automaker.
The Impreza had historically been produced only in Japan. The start of Impreza production marks the culmination of more than three years of preparation and highlights the consistent growth in Subaru demand in the United States (U.S.).
The positive economic impact of that growth is clear in the investment Subaru made to increase SIA’s production capacity and prepare for Impreza production. SIA invested $1.3 billion over the past four years, and hired an additional 1,400 associates in the past year.

“In a time when some manufacturers are moving work out of the United States, we’re proud to be bringing Subaru Impreza production to the heartland of America,” said Tom Easterday, Senior Executive Vice President of SIA. “The move has allowed us to create hundreds of new jobs not only at SIA, but also at our suppliers in Indiana and across the country.”
The all-new 2017 Subaru Impreza is the first vehicle built using the new Subaru Global Platform architecture that is designed to enhance safety, comfort, agility and driving pleasure. Available in sedan and 5-door models, the 2017 Impreza is equipped with new driver assist technology, multimedia features and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The new Impreza will be available in base, Premium, Sport and Limited trim lines starting in late 2016.
“As we continue our phenomenal growth across the country, Subaru is proud that drivers can now buy an all-new Subaru Impreza that is made in America,” said Thomas J. Doll, President and COO, Subaru of America, Inc. “We are looking forward to this new vehicle supporting our continued growth in 2017 and beyond.”
SIA’s parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), decided to move the production of the Impreza to the U.S. because of increasing American demand for Subaru vehicles, evidenced by eight consecutive years of increased Subaru sales in the U.S., as well as the high level of operational and production quality the plant has demonstrated over its nearly 30-year history.
SIA will produce over 380,000 vehicles annually with the addition of the Impreza, and SIA associates have built nearly five million vehicles since SIA’s start of production in September 1989. SIA Associates remain committed to quality, safety and environmental stewardship. As a result, SIA has completed an expansion to help meet the needs of the growing production in its facility. SIA’s expansion included building a new paint shop and enlarging the engine assembly, trim and final assembly, and stamping sections.
The all-new Impreza comes in sedan and 5-door versions and will be reaching retailers in the next few weeks. Pricing begins at $100 over the previous model year at $18,395.

USA - Subaru of America launches the new Sedan and hatchback Impreza, now built in the United States.

  • First Impreza built in the U.S.
  • Sedan and 5-door Models offering up to 38mpg
  • New Subaru Global Platform
  • 2.0-liter Boxer Engine with Direct Injection
  • Enhanced Safety, Comfort and Agility, priced $100 over previous model
Subaru of America, Inc. today announced pricing on the all-new 2017 Impreza sedan and 5-door models. The Impreza debuts the new Subaru Global Platform that is designed to deliver significantly higher levels of driving engagement, interior refinement, crash protection and ride comfort.

As with previous generations, every Impreza is equipped standard with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a SUBARU BOXER® engine. Pricing begins just $100 over previous model year at $18,395.

The 2017 Subaru Impreza will be offered in four trim levels: 2.0i, 2.0i Premium, 2.0i Sport and 2.0i Limited when it arrives at Subaru retailers. Models equipped with Subaru’s Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission will arrive late 2016 while 5-speed manual models will be available in early 2017.
The 2.0i starts with an extensive roster of standard features including a 6.5-inch multimedia touchscreen; Android Auto and Apple CarPlaycompatibility, power windows with auto up/down on both driver and passenger sides; 60/40-split fold-down rear seat; power door locks and side mirrors; multi-function display with fuel economy information; tilt and telescoping steering column; security system with engine immobilizer; carpeted floor mats; and more.
The $21,195  Premium trim adds SUBARU STARLINK Safety and Security features, 16-inch alloy wheels, the All-Weather Package featuring heated front seats, windshield wiper de-icer, and heated exterior mirrors as well as automatic headlights. Premium 5-door Imprezas also feature standard roof rails (not available on 2.0i or 5-door Impreza 2.0i Sport). Stepping up to the Premium trim also brings wider option availability, including a power moonroof and driver assist technology systems.

The new Subaru Global Platform, together with the SUBARU BOXER®engine; Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD); and EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, represent the brand’s core technologies and constitutes the basic foundation of the next generation of Subaru vehicles. Impreza’s new platform incorporates a redesigned structure with optimized cross sections and highly stiffened joints between sections to significantly enhance straight-line stability, agility, and ride comfort while suppressing noise, vibration, and harshness to a degree not seen in the compact class. Specifically, the new platform increases rigidity of the unitized body structure by over 70 percent.

Taking full advantage of the new stiffer platform and more powerful engine, the Impreza 2.0i Sport, available in sedan and 5-door, delivers a more fun-to-drive performance feel thanks to exclusive suspension tuning, 18-inch machine-finish alloy wheels and Active Torque Vectoring. Subaru aimed for a new ride/handling balance benchmark in the compact segment. Sport models are priced from $21,995.
Exclusive exterior styling and features setting the Impreza Sport apart include standard LED daytime running lights (DRL), black-finish front grille, body-color rocker panels, and turn signal side mirrors. The Impreza Sport 5-Door features gloss black rear gate trim, while the Sport Sedan has a rear trunk spoiler. Inside the Sport, unique black cloth upholstery is trimmed with red stitching, a motif that repeats for the steering wheel, gear shift, instrument panel, and door trim. The instrument panel incorporates exclusive Sport gauges and a Multi-Function Display.
The Sport comes well equipped, with upgrades over the Impreza Premium that include the SUBARU STARLINK 8.0-inch Multimedia system, and a new Harman/Kardon® premium audio system is available. Keyless Access & Push-Button Start, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift handle, and a CVT shift boot round out the Sport’s enhanced standard when equipped with CVT.
A revised version of the FB 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine gains direct fuel injection and other enhancements to boost both performance (now 152-hp vs. 148 before) and drivability. In highline trims, the Lineartronic®CVT (continuously variable transmission) features a 7-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters that allow the driver to control the transmission via seven pre-set ratios. The new Impreza continues to be one of the most fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive compact sedans in America offering up to 38mpg highway on CVT models. Manual transmission model and mpg will be available in early 2017.

Subaru designed the 2017 Impreza to provide even higher levels of safety than the outgoing model, which was named an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ (when equipped with available EyeSight). The new platform underpinning the 2017 Impreza improves crash energy absorption by 40 percent over present models.
The EyeSight system includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management and Lane Departure and Sway Warning.  Blind Spot Detection with Lane Keep Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are also available. Also new are available Steering Responsive Headlights, which can illuminate curves as the vehicle steers into them, and High Beam Assist, which automatically activates and deactivates the high beam headlamps based on driving conditions. All 2017 Impreza models include, as standard equipment, front seat side impact airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.
The 2017 Impreza adds additional driver-assist technologies, including Reverse Automatic Braking and the display of steering lines for the standard rear vision camera. Reverse Automatic Braking can apply the vehicle’s brakes if an obstacle is detected while reversing. A new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System can detect pressure drops at individual wheels.
Subaru has elevated the Limited trim for the 2017 Impreza into more luxurious territory. The exterior looks more upscale with LED headlights and distinctive “Konoji” LED daytime running lights (DRL) and standard 17-inch machine finished alloy wheels. Judicious use of exterior chrome trim and turn signal side mirrors add a touch of elegance. Limited trim Imprezas begin at $24,095.
The Limited’s leather trimmed interior features contrast stitching on the door armrests and instrument panel, and the 6-way power driver’s seat is the first ever in an Impreza. Standard amenities include an automatic climate control system, leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter, Keyless Access & Push-Button Start and 8-inch STARLINK Multimedia audio unit. The exclusive instrument panel features white gauge cluster illumination, and new Harman/Kardon® premium audio is available in the Impreza for the first time. Models equipped with EyeSight also include High Beam Assist.  Lastly, the available navigation system now features maps provided by TomTom.
SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia systems offer the latest in digital music playing, Bluetooth® wireless capability, iPod® control, smartphone integration and more. The display screen acts as the display for the standard rear vision camera, and the top-level system includes navigation.
SUBARU STARLINK Connected Services comes with the Safety Plus package that offers SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report, and Diagnostic Alerts. This package can be upgraded to the Safety Plus & Security Plus package that adds Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator.
