Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

Renault updates the Captur crossover with new tech, better interiors and an improved exterior look.

  • New version of top-of-the-range Special Edition – Renault Captur Iconic Nav
  • New TCe 120 engine with six-speed manual gearbox available
  • Flame Red metallic paint with Diamond Black roof now available on Dynamique Nav and Dynamique S Nav versions
  • Captur range priced from £14,575
Renault has announced a number of specification and option updates to the highly popular Captur range, available to order from today. A new special edition version of the Captur – the Iconic Nav Special Edition – receives exclusive Arctic White pearlescent paint with Diamond Black two-tone body colour with blue roof and door mirror decals as standard.

Adding to the crossover style are painted lower front and rear bumpers, 17-inch Explore’ alloy wheels with black inserts with a blue Renault diamond centre cap.

Meanwhile inside, the new part-leather seat upholstery is highlighted with light blue stitching with this detail carried on to the leather steering wheel.
A new light blue tinted chrome interior touch pack also helps to carry the exterior theme through to the inside of the special edition. Aluminium pedals as well as matt black detailing around the cabin help to boost the quality of the Captur Iconic Nav Special Edition with the driver and front passenger also enjoying heated front seats for the cooler months.
The special edition also receives Renault’s Grip Xtend advanced traction control system including Mud and Snow Tyres.  R-Link Evolution touchscreen infotainment and satellite navigation system with European mapping and reverse parking camera as well as an electrochrome rear view mirror add to the equipment level.
The Renault Captur Iconic Nav is priced from £19,175 on-the-road.
A new powertrain mating the 1.2-litre TCe 120 engine with a six-speed manual gearbox is now offered from Dynamique Nav level and above.
The new engine/gearbox combination provides a combined fuel consumption from 51.4mpg (NEDC) with CO2 emissions of 125 g/km. An alternative to the already-available TCe 120 with dual-clutch EDC gearbox, the TCe 120 engine with manual gearbox is priced from £16,575.
Elsewhere in the range, buyers of Dynamique Nav and Dynamique S Nav versions will now be able to specify the highly popular Flame Red metallic paint body colour with a Diamond Black roof. Complementing this, a red interior touch pack will also become available on these versions providing red bursts around the cabin on the centre console, speakers and air vents.
The two-tone body colour is available from £595, whilst the red interior touch pack is priced at £100.
On top of the Renault Captur Iconic Nav, the Captur range is available in four trim levels and with a range of two petrol and two diesel engines, priced from £14,575. Captur was the best-selling compact crossover in Europe in 2015 and, as of the end of May this year, had sold over 596,268 vehicles globally since launch in 2013.

25 years after the launch of the original Clio, Renault has renewed its best-seller with the introduction of New Clio

  • 25 years after the launch of the original Clio, Renault has renewed its best-seller with the introduction of New Clio
  • New Clio packs even more seductive appeal thanks to its lighting signature and full-LED Pure Vision head lights, as well as new styling details
  • New dCi 110 engine and TCe 120 now available with a manual transmission
  • Improvements to interior quality as well as new colours and trims
  • Additional infotainment options, BOSE sound system and convenience options such as Handsfree Parking
  • New Clio delivers one of the market’s most extensive powertrain line-ups
  • New Clio will be available to order in the UK from October
  • Clio has sold 13 million units worldwide since launch
Twenty five years on from launch in the UK, Renault has unveiled New Clio bringing a host of styling, equipment, powertrain and quality improvements to the fourth generation of its best-selling supermini.  New Clio will go on sale in the UK from October.
Styling: New Clio keeps all of its promises
The fourth-generation Clio was the first Renault model to feature the brand’s new styling identity in 2012. Thanks to a full-LED lighting signature, including C-shaped daytime running lights in the case of certain versions, New Clio continues to refresh Renault’s design identity.

At the front, the grille which houses the Renault diamond has been redesigned, as has the lower part of the grille which is wider to add an even more modern feel to the front end. At the rear, the skirt has been redesigned for additional robustness.
Four new body colours have been added (Mars Red, Titanium Grey, Arctic White and Iron Blue), with a selection of new wheel and wheel trim designs, plus a more extensive personalisation programme.
The New Clio benefits from the use of finishing materials previously reserved for Renault’s higher-end models. All the upholsteries are new and special attention has been paid to the tactile and visual quality of the plastics’ grain-effect finish.
The chrome trim features a more subdued, matt finish and the colours are more refined. In short, the new Clio forms a higher end package which strikes a desirable balance between seductive exterior styling and a high-quality interior finish.
Driving pleasure, connectivity and agility to address all types of use
The powerful, fuel-efficient 1.5 dCi 110 diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox is a new addition to the New Clio’s powertrain line-up, as is the availability of six-speed manual transmission for the TCe 120 petrol engine.  As a result, New Clio boasts one of the market’s most extensive powertrain ranges thanks to a choice of eleven engine/transmission combinations (depending on market).
To provide customers with a range of options, the New Clio comes with three different connected multimedia systems, namely Media Nav Evolution, Renault R-Link Evolution and the new, smart R&GO system which is available on entry trim levels.  The new Clio is the first B-segment Renault to be available with BOSE quality sound for a memorable audio experience, while a suite of driving aids makes the new car even more versatile and nimble.
In addition to its reverse parking sensor, and depending on the version, the New Clio offers a front parking sensor and a reverse parking camera.  Available for higher-end versions, Handsfree Parking allows the driver to fully delegate the completion of parking manoeuvres.
Full details on the UK line-up with pricing and specification will be available later in the summer.  Vehicle ordering is due open in October with deliveries commencing later that month.

Clio and Captur adds new Dual Clutch auto for improved driving dynamics.

  • New 1.5 dCi 90 EDC automatic available for Renault Clio and Captur - impressive fuel economy and CO2emissions in both town and motorway use
  • Other recent changes to the ranges include: debut of on-board telemetry and performance tracking system - Renaultsport Monitor 2.0 £295 and rear parking camera £350 (Clio)

Renault’s striking Clio and Captur line-ups have just welcomed the availability of the EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) gearbox option with the fuel-sipping 1.5-litre dCi 90 engine, to give them even greater appeal.

The smooth six-speed transmission, offers both fully automatic and manual gear selection, while its CO2 emissions figure among the lowest for any automatic gearbox in either class – just 95g/km for French favourite Clio, which also boasts 76.0 mpg combined cycle fuel economy. The fresh-faced Renault best-seller, Clio, has already clocked-up more than 12,000 orders so far this year, and the latest engine looks set to boost sales further.

The new addition represents a genuine shift from traditional automatic gearboxes by offering the same sturdiness and running costs as a manual, but with the significant benefits of controlled fuel consumption and emissions, as well as improved performance.  It is the perfect choice for urban motorists, eliminating the need for frustrating repeat gear changes in stop-start traffic, as well as long motorway runs, as anyone who has sat gridlocked in summer holiday jams to the coast would no doubt testify.

Already a hit in the Mégane and Scénic ranges, it has just been made available for both the Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique MediaNav S in Clio and Captur. Prices start from £16,595 in the former, and from £17,395 in the latter bold newcomer.

The French marque’s stylish new model boasts the expressive style and driving position of a SUV, is as practical as an MPV and has the handling and driving pleasure of a hatchback.

EDC TECHNOLOGY

The EDC system uses two clutches. One looks after the odd-number gears (1st, 3rd and 5th) and the second covers the even-number gears (2nd, 4th and 6th), as well as reverse.

The intelligent set-up instantaneously adapts to the driver's demands by selecting the gear, which delivers the right amount of power the instant it is required. It also benefits from an ‘up/down’ flick-shift mode which allows the driver to recover control of the gear changes on demand.

Additional features include an optimised “creep” function which provides better fluidity especially while sitting in traffic jams and during manoeuvres such as parking, and   reassuring assisted hill start support which prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards.

Renaultsport Monitor 2.0 and rear parking camera

Other recent changes to the Clio range include the debut of the on-board telemetry and performance tracking system, Renaultsport Monitor 2.0, now available as an option on the GT Line TCe 120 as well as the Renaultsport 200 EDC Turbo and the appearance of a rear parking camera option on the standard Clio range.

The Renaultsport Monitor, still a ground-breaking feature in its class since it was introduced in the Renaultsport Clio 200, is a competition-style telemetry system that displays and logs essential performance parameters to help drivers record and hone their skills available as an option at £295.

Integrated with Renault’s MediaNav multimedia and navigation system, it collects data through a series of sensors and presents it in real time, using a customisable display of dials, histograms and graphics on the dashboard. Among the elements it keeps tabs on are engine speed, power and torque, intake air, EDC clutches and transmission oil temperatures, turbo and brake pressures, throttle valve aperture, wheel torque and steering wheel angle. It can also store performance data, including acceleration times and braking time from 60 mph to standstill, plus G-force diagrams, showing longitudinal and lateral acceleration. Screenshots can then be saved to a USB stick for sharing and further analysis.  The monitor also provides a stopwatch function that can be operated manually, or automatically using GPS.

The Renaultsport Monitor 2.0 has an advanced data logging function which can record all the information gathered during a circuit session and match it to corresponding GPS coordinates, so they can be viewed on a computer. The car’s position can be displayed on a satellite-view map, along with a dynamic display of all the associated driving parameters. All data can be recorded – an hour’s driving can be stored in a single 3MB file.

Rounding off the changes is the wider availability of a rear parking camera. Formerly only available as an option on the range-topping 200 Turbo EDC Renaultsport Lux, it can now be specified on all MediaNav-equipped Clios for £350.
