In November, Renault car sales were up 20.5 per cent with 5,686 vehicles sold in the month – continuing to significantly outpace the UK car market which was up 8 per cent.
According to official figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Renault’s car market share for the month is up 0.3 percentage points on 2013 to 3.3 per cent. Year-to-date car market share for the French car brand stands at 2.7 per cent with sales of 61,172 vehicles – up 49.9 per cent from 40,801 vehicles during the first eleven months of 2013.
Renault has the fastest growing B-segment range in the market. Combined sales of the Clio hatchback, Captur crossover and ZOE electric vehicle are up 76.5 per cent year-to-date representing 46,517 vehicles of the 61,172 total.
Renault van sales were also up with 1,539 sales in the month of November – up 38.4 per cent on 2013 and representing a market share of 5.7 per cent. Total van sales for 2014 year-to-date stand at 15,948 vehicles.
The Renault Group, which comprises Renault cars, vans and Dacia, saw its 20th consecutive month of outpacing the growth of the market in November and in the process set a new record for a period of sustained growth of any Renault Group subsidiary in the world.
In November, Renault Group sold a total of 8,954 vehicles – a growth of 14 per cent versus a market growth of 8 per cent. Group year-to-date sales passed the 2013 full-year total in September and currently stand at 99,479 vehicles, representing a market share of 3.8 per cent – up 48.7 per cent on the same period last year and are at their highest level since 2010.
Commenting on the results, Ken Ramirez, Renault UK Managing Director, said: “So far in 2014 we have sold nearly 50 per cent more Renault cars and vans than we did last year. This extraordinary growth has been fuelled by customer demand for our stunning new car and van models, supported by our dealer network’s drive to deliver our GO5+ mid-term plan objectives.”
