Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

Barn Find Series III jaguar E-Type V12 to go under the hammer at the end of the month.

  • A 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster in ‘barn find’ condition will be offered by Classic Car Auctions on 24th September
  • Owned by one family for 40 years and left undriven in a barn for two decades
  • Expected to sell for between £35,000 and £40,000 at auction
A highly collectible, family owned 1972 Jaguar E-Type ‘barn find’ will be offered for sale at Classic Car Auctions’ (CCA) September Sale on 24th September at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.
The iconic Series III V12 Roadster, finished in yellow with a black leather interior, has been sitting dormant in a barn for 20 years having been passed down through the generations of one Carlisle family.
The car was first registered on 3rd November 1972 and bought by a Carlisle based chemist in 1976.

As a self-confessed Jaguar fanatic with other cars already in his personal collection, he used the Series III E-Type to enjoy the summer months driving with the top down, sporting his very own personalised number plate, FW V12.
It was later passed on to his wife in 1982 before it was gifted to their son on his 30th birthday in February 2007. With fond memories of childhood family trips to the Lake District, the car was carefully tucked away under plastic sheeting in a dry barn.
Now set to emerge from the barn where it has been stored for two decades, with twenty year old air still in the tyres, the much loved E-Type is expected to sell for between £35,000 and £40,000 at auction.
“My dad loved cars and race days. It will be sad to see the car go but now it can be brought back to life and enjoyed, as it should be,” comments the E-Type’s current owner.
The E-Type remains complete with all parts of the engine, body work, interior and original features present, with the interior in surprisingly good condition with no obvious signs of wear, and an odometer reading of 43,285 miles.
“Jaguar E-Types are among the most sought after and collectible classic cars on the market today, and the Series III represents excellent value,” comments Guy Lees-Milne, auction manager at CCA. “Naturally, a barn find like this is in need of some attention, but it will make a very exciting project and we expect bidders to be out in force for a chance at an opportunity like this one.”
The car features a 5.3 L Jaguar V12 engine, manual transmission, uprated brakes, standard power steering, and air conditioning, as well as the distinctive large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, four exhaust tips and V12 badge on the rear.

MECUM MONTEREY #6 - This 1965 Iso Grifo A3/C Bizzarrini Competizione has been exquisitely restored.

  • Giotto Bizzarrini built 20 Iso Grifo A3/C race cars with the rare Drogo riveted alloy body
  • Lightweight aluminum Drogo riveted body designed and built by Carrozzeria Sport Auto Drogo
  • Sold new to race car driver Pierre de Sibenthal in 1966
  • Sold to a new owner in the late 1969s in Switzerland
  • Car remained in Switzerland for approximately 20 years before being sold to a new owner in Italy
  • Kept in storage for another 20 years
  • 5.3L engine with 400 HP
  • 4-speed transmission
  • Monococque chassis
  • Backed by Swiss import papers and customs documentation
  • Titled as a 1966 model as it was first sold in 1966
This 1965 Iso Grifo A3/C Bizzarrini Competizione has been exquisitely restored by marque specialist Salvatore Diomante and is one of just twenty produced with the rare Drogo riveted aluminum body. The A3/C is the brainchild of Giotto Bizzarrini, regarded as one of the most prolific automotive racing designers of his era.
He came into international prominence while working for Ferrari from 1957-1961 as their Chief Development Engineer on both the Sports Racing and GT cars. His body of work included the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa and the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO.
He left Ferrari in 1961 as part of the famous “palace walk out” – the mass mutiny of eight key members of the Ferrari brain trust in an act of both defiance and solidarity against the draconian management style of Enzo Ferrari. He would later collaborate with industrialist Renzo Rivolta to produce the “Iso Grifo A3/C Bizzarrini.”

The basic lay-out was of front engine design, however, the engine was placed far behind the center line of the front wheels making it truly an amidships car with perfect 50-50 weight distribution. The clever design also called for side mounted gas tanks which maintained the overall balance of the car regardless of fuel load.
The suspension was independent double wishbones in front and an independent DeDion axle arrangement in the rear. Clothed with an aluminum body penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro of the Bertone Design Studio was low drag coupe standing only 43-inches high.
The lightweight aluminum bodies were built by Piero Drogo at Carrozzeria Sports Cars in Modena. There were only twenty five Iso Grifo A3/C Bizzarrini cars completed at the time of Renzo Rivolta’s death in 1965, twenty of which were of Drogo built riveted aluminum body construction. After Rivolta’s death, Bizzarrini would continue on with production of the car with two minor changes: the name and badging would be changed from “Iso Grifo A3/C Bizzarrini” to “Bizzarrini 5300 GT” and the bodies would be constructed by Carrozzeria BBM in lieu of Drogo.
The engine selected for the Iso Grifo A3/C Bizzarrini was the Chevrolet 327 cubic inch V-8. This engine had been used in a previous Renzo Rivolta built automobile, the Iso Rivolta. Bizzarrini was enamored with the high winding small block Chevrolet power-plant for its horsepower, dependability and low cost.
When asked about the Chevrolet engine, Bizzarrini replied “It was superior to the Ferrari’s engines, having the same power but with more immediate throttle response.” The car was a brilliant design that clearly demonstrated speed, reliability and effective aerodynamic design.
Unfortunately, due to its low production number it was unfairly penalized by the homologation rules to race in the “prototype” class, a field dominated by big bore sports racers like the Ford GT40. The racing records simply do not reflect the genius of design and execution of the Iso Grifo A3/C Bizzarrini.
Offered here is one of the original 20 Iso Grifo A3Cs with the rare Carrozzeria Sport Auto Drogo body that has its trademark exposed rivets covering the entire body. Iso A3C number B-0219 was sold new in 1966 to the famous Pierre de Siebenthal, the factory Bizzarrini driver.
The car was sold without engine and we can suppose that the car was destined to be raced. De Siebenthal then sold the car to his client in Switzerland and car was registered in 1969 with a 5.3 liter V-8 Engine.
The car spent the next 20 years in Switzerland before relocating to Italy where it spent an additional two decades in storage. Don’t miss this opportunity to own one of the finest Italian GT race cars of its era: The Iso Grifo A3/C Bizzarrini Competizione.

USA - The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado designed to build on Chevy's truck momentum.

2016 Silverado designed to build on Chevrolet’s truck momentum
  • Bolder, more muscular look reflects Silverado strength, dependability
  • Expanded use of 8-speed transmissions; additional safety technologies
  • Available support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
The new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 brings muscular designs and new customer-focused technologies to the most dependable, longest-lasting family of full-size pickups on the road.
The new Silverados make their public debut today at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. “The new 2016 Silverado will build on the Chevy truck legacy of dependability,” said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevrolet trucks.
“New muscular front end designs, sculpted hoods and signature LED lighting accents reflect Silverado’s strength and dependability, which have helped make Silverado the fastest-growing full-size pickup brand this year.”
Other changes for 2016 will include expanded use of 8-speed automatic transmissions, updated available Chevy MyLink with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and additional safety technologies.

New designs feature advanced lighting, strong Chevy Truck DNA
Chevrolet designers used advanced lighting technology to help create new Silverados that show their Chevy Truck DNA while looking like no other truck on the road.

Advanced lighting allowed Chevrolet designers to create more expressive forms, integrating the lights into the sweeping horizontal elements and deep grille inserts. Turn signals and brake lamps wrap around the corners of the truck for a more streamlined look.
The new designs provide a unique look for each Silverado trim level, and let customers chose a look that more closely fits their personalities.
For example, the Silverado WT features chrome horizontal grille elements, black grille inserts, and compact high-intensity discharge headlamps. LT and LTZ Silverados feature chrome grille elements and bumpers, while Z71 models have a monochromatic appearance. Silverado High Country features chrome horizontal bars and unique grille inserts, set off by body colored bumpers.
The muscular front end designs also feature a dramatically sculpted hood that helps give the new Silverado the strong presence that differentiates full-size pickups from other types of vehicles.
All trim levels feature premium lighting with LED signature daytime running lamps and park/turn lamps. LED fog lamps are available on LT and standard on LT Z71.
LTZ, LTZ/Z71 and High Country models feature LED technology for all lighting, including LED headlamps, daytime running lights, fog lights, park/turn signal lamps, and taillamps.
Advanced connectivity for work or play
Silverado customers are among the top users of the connectivity offered by available OnStar and 4G LTE Wi-Fi. For 2016, Silverado will be available with support for Apple CarPlay, which projects select iPhone features (iPhone 5 and later) on the available MyLink display in a smart, simple manner.

This integration of phone and vehicle allows drivers to make calls, send and receive messages and listen to music from the touchscreen or by voice via Siri, helping drivers keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
Using CarPlay is simple. A “Projection” icon on the MyLink screen, visible when a phone is not connected, changes to indicate “CarPlay” when a compatible phone is connected via a USB. Compatible apps need to be downloaded to a phone before using, and Apple’s privacy statement and terms of use apply. Data plan rates may also apply.
CarPlay-supported apps include Phone, Messages, Maps, Music and compatible third-party apps. A full list of those apps can be found at Apple.com/ios/carplay.
Silverado models with the available 7-inch color MyLink also will support Android Auto.
Advanced safety and convenience features

The new 2016 Silverado 1500 offers safety features such as Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist and IntelliBeam high beam assist.

The 2016 Silverado is also available with a remote locking tailgate for convenience and security. Wireless phone charging is available on LT and LTZ double cab and crew cab models with available bucket seats, and it is standard on High Country.
Silverado High Country also will be available with power articulating running boards, which extend to enhance access to the cab, and can also swing rearward for easier access to the bed.
Time-tested high-strength steel, advanced V-8 engines

The new 2016 Silverado 1500 builds on the legacy of the most dependable, longest-lasting full-size pickups on the road.

Silverado features a fully boxed high-strength steel frame and a body structure that make extensive use of high strength steels, as well as roll-formed steel beds, which are stronger and lighter than conventional steel.
Customers can chose from three advanced EcoTec3 engines. They build on the legacy of Chevrolet small block truck engines, while incorporating advanced features to enhance power and efficiency.
All three engines feature direct fuel injection, continuously variable valve timing, and cylinder deactivation, also known as Active Fuel Management, for improved power and efficiency. All switch to four-cylinder mode under light-load conditions.
Silverado’s standard 4.3L V-6 is SAE certified at 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque, the most torque of any standard V-6.
The 5.3L V-8 is certified at 355-horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Offering an EPA highway estimate of 23 mpg, it is the most fuel efficient V-8 in any pickup.
Silverado’s available 6.2L V-8 is certified at 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, the most power and torque of any light-duty pickup. This engine also offers the highest towing of any V-8 light-duty pickup, up to 12,000 pounds.
For 2016, the new 8-speed automatic transmission that is standard on 6.2L-equipped Silverados will be standard on LTZ, LTZ/Z71 and High Country Silverados with the 5.3L V-8.
The new 8-speed provides a numerically higher first gear ratio to help drivers start off more confidently with a heavy load or when trailering. Its wider overall gear ratio spread also enables numerically lower rear axle ratios, which reduce engine rpm on the highway.
Building on strong Chevy Truck momentum

Chevy Trucks are on a roll, with pickup sales up 33 percent so far this year.

“Our strategy is pretty simple,” said Piszar. “Build trucks that meet the real needs of truck customers. The right designs. The right sizes. The right powertrains. The right materials. The right technologies.”
Chevrolet intends to strengthen this momentum with the new 2016 Silverado 1500, a new diesel engine for the hot-selling midsize Colorado, and new special models for Silverado and Colorado.
Since the introduction of the all-new Silverado 1500 in the spring of 2013, Silverado sales have grown by double digits, on a percentage basis, each year. Through August, Silverado sales are up 17 percent compared with the same period last year.
Growth in Silverado sales have been accompanied by a strong Colorado launch, which has made Colorado the fastest-selling pickup in America. Colorado sales so far this year have passed the 59,000 mark in the U.S. alone.
