Bentley brings all the cars including Le Mans and GT3 to this years Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Bentley Motors returns to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this month, with the UK debut of the Continental Supersports alongside a powerful display of new Bentley models for the road and track.

The Festival of Speed – known as the world’s most glamorous motorsport garden party – will form the backdrop for an impressive line-up of award-winning new Bentley models. The festival runs from June 29 to July 2.

Bentley Challenges the Famous Hillclimb

The exciting new Continental Supersports captures this year’s Festival of Speed theme, “Peaks of Performance”, perfectly. The model will be shown for the first time in the UK at Goodwood where it will be driven up the historic hillclimb by Derek Bell, renowned Le Mans champion and Bentley Boy. With its purposeful appearance, the world’s fastest four-seat car – and Bentley’s most powerful production car yet – is a true game changer, accelerating to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds.

The Bentley Continental GT3 race car will also grace the hillclimb driven by Bentley Boy, Andy Soucek, the Blancpain GT Series racing driver. The Continental GT3 has competed in 360 races so far, claiming 74 podiums and 29 wins.

Also going up the hillclimb will be the Bentaya, the world’s most powerful and most exclusive luxury SUV.

Bentley’s Finest Models on Display

Joining a second Continental Supersports on Bentley’s stand at the Festival of Speed will be the Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase. Designed for customers with a preference for being driven, the Extended Wheelbase offers a first-class air-travel experience for the road.

The 250 mm extension of the Mulsanne’s wheelbase is entirely to the benefit of rear-seat passenger legroom. To make the best use of the additional rear legroom, Bentley has developed airline-style electronic leg rests which are integrated into the bases of the two rear seats. These extend outward and pivot, affording rear-seat passengers the luxury of choice between upright, relaxed and reclined seating positions.

The new Bentayga Diesel will also be on display, with its combination of go-anywhere four-wheel drive, luxurious handcrafted cabin and new, triple-charged 4.0-litre diesel-powered V8 engine.

It will be joined by the Flying Spur V8 S, a more performance-orientated version of the Flying Spur, with an uprated twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 528 PS (521 bhp).

Tom Kristensen Speed 8 Celebration

Away from Bentley’s main stand, the victorious Speed 8 Prototype race car will be on display in the paddock area. This car debuted at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2001, winning the famous endurance race in 2003 with Tom Kristensen behind the wheel.

As well as offering a fantastic spectacle, the car that marked Bentley's return to racing after a 73-year absence will form a celebration of 20 years of racing at Le Mans for Kristensen, as well as a nod to the legendary driver’s 50th birthday.

New Forza Game Challenge for Visitors

Guests are invited to take part in the new Forza game on a simulator; players on the stand will take part in an exclusive pre-release version of the game before its general release in September. A Bentley Boy will set the fastest lap on Forza before the festival begins, and a competition to beat the fastest lap will be run over the four days of the festival.

Live Craftsmanship Displays on Stand

Visitors to Bentley’s stand over the Festival of Speed weekend will also be invited to watch demonstrations by the craftsmen from Crewe. As well as an introduction to Mulliner, the Bentley’s bespoke commissioning division, guests will be able to observe craftsmen from the woodshop and trim departments, designing and making interior elements, using the finest quality leathers and woods.

The Midland Automobile Club’s Classic Nostalgia show , showcased 80 years of Jaguar road and race cars.

The Midland Automobile Club’s Classic Nostalgia thrilled the crowds with a very special display of road and race cars to celebrate 80 years of the Jaguar name and its Le Mans successes.

Classic Nostalgia was supported by Classic Motor Cars, Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, Stratstone, and Jaguar Cars all providing stunning machinery displayed in the Paddock and in action on the hill.

A last minute delight was the appearance of Project 7 which in the hands of Jaguar’s test driver took part in the hill display with several very spirited demonstration runs in glorious sunshine. This was the first time the car had been back in road going form since 2013 when the concept car was brought to Shelsley Walsh for final checks and publicity shots.

Mark Constanduros, Commercial Manager for the Midland Automobile Club said “It was a great delight to see Project 7 back here with us, the interest in the car was amazing and after all the last minute negotiations it was well worth the wait.”

“I really appreciate Jaguar agreeing to showcase Project 7 here again at Shelsley Walsh."

There were other highlights throughout the weekend, including the demonstration of the Callum Mark2 Jaguar. With the help of Classic Motor Cars and Ian Callum, Design Director of Jaguar, the car took a single run on the hill on Sunday. There was a lot of buzz around the car with people giving it a close inspection.

“I have to thank Ian Callum very much for agreeing to have his car here as part of the celebrations and to run it on the hill” said Mark Constanduros.

“I have only ever seen it static and was very keen to see the car running, for everyone to see and admire.”

Twice during each day the sound of the Jaguar V12 rang out as the 1987 championship winning XJR9 took to the hill in the hands of Kent Abrahamson, followed by the Group 44 E- type of Bob Tullius and the Jaguar XJ220s. On Sunday the same cars ran again except for the XJ220s, but this time with the XJ12C in the hands of 5 time Le Mans winner Derek Bell and the Callum Mark 2. All cars showcasing Jaguar’s heritage in both road and racing.

Displayed with Stratstone as a static display was the Ecurie Ecosse C-type and an XKSS from Classic Motor Cars. The Paddock also had two Daimlers one of which from Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust was the sister car to the one that ran at Shelsley Walsh in 1905, and ran at the Jubilee meeting with Rupert Instone.

Philip Porter, well renowned E-type specialist, brought the Italian Job E-type and the original

Geneva Motor Show car 9600HP. Philip was joined by Norman Dewis, Jaguar’s legendary test and development driver who carried out interview and autograph sessions throughout the day in front of Denis Jenkinson’s E-type.

The event also had the support of the Jaguar XK Enthusiasts Club (XKEC) and the Jaguar XJS Club with displays in the main display area with support from Jaguar Specialists SNG Barratt of Bridgenorth.

Jaguar details the nine cars that it will be taking to the \Mille Miglia 2015.

Nine of Jaguar’s most decorated and iconic heritage cars will compete in the 2015 Mille Miglia as the brand celebrates its 80^th anniversary.

Fans lining the 1,000-mile loop in Italy will be treated to the sight of three C-types, three D-types, an XK120, an XK140 and a MK VII saloon, which will compete as part of the Jaguar Heritage team. 

Held from 14-17 May, 2015, the Mille Miglia presents one of the toughest tests for both car and driver, beginning and ending in Brecia and running through the heart of Italy’s capital, Rome.

The first of the C-types wearing registration number ‘NDU 289’, is no stranger to the Mille Miglia having competed some 62 years ago in the original race format back in 1953, driven by Mario Tadini and Franco Cortese. It also forms part of the Jaguar Heritage Trust collection. 

The car is one of three models competing at this year’s race that are owned and run by the Jaguar Heritage Trust and will be driven by Jaguar Vehicle Integrity Chief Engineer, Mike Cross.

C-type ‘KSF 182’ bearing Chassis No. 42 that was raced by Jimmy Stewart and later by Sir Jackie Stewart over a three-year period from 1953 to 1955. It will be driven by five-time winner of the Le Mans 24hr, three-time Daytona 24hr winner and world sportscar veteran, Derek Bell. Derek is driving as a guest of art collector, classic car enthusiast and owner of ‘KSF 182’, Adam Lindemann. 

Completing the C-type trio is ‘PUG 676’ that was raced extensively in the post-World-War II era and will be driven by its owner, Royal Automobile Club Motoring Committee Chairman, Ben Cussons.

Jaguar’s participation would not be complete without the legendary D-type. This year’s Mille Miglia line-up will include ‘NVC 260’, a car that competed in several Mille Miglias in the 1980s. Formerly owned by Ralph Lauren, this special D-type also proved its worth over a two-year racing career between 1956 and 1957. It will be driven by its owner, one of the classic car world’s most respected experts, Simon Kidston.

Also competing will be ‘RSF 303’ and ‘393 RW’, which featured in several renowned races back in the 1950s. The Ecurie Ecosse D-type ‘RSF 303’ was bred for competition and after grabbing the runner-up position in the 1957 Le Mans race, took part in Mille Miglia testing that very same year and then again in 1958. It will be driven by Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum and businessman and classic car enthusiast and owner Clive Beecham.

Reinforcing the D-type’s competitive spirit and performance was ‘393 RW’, which crowned a glorious year in 1956 by winning the 12 Hours of Reims and finishing in a credible sixth place – and setting the fastest lap – at Le Mans in the same year. It will be driven by host of the hugely popular BBC One show, Saturday Kitchen and well-known chef, James Martin.

Customers can experience what it feels like to drive a C-type, D-type and E-type at Jaguar’s test facility at Fen End near the home of Jaguar Land Rover in the West Midlands. Jaguar Heritage Driving Experiences give people the opportunity to fully experience the feeling of driving a classic Jaguar. A choice of one-hour test drives, a half-day Le Mans 24 Hours race-themed special or a full-day ‘Grace and Pace’ hospitality and driving programme are available. 

Although not available to drive in the Jaguar Heritage Drives programme currently, the MK VII saloon will still give fans and followers of the Mille Miglia on Jaguar’s social media platforms a chance to see why it was one of the most remarkable cars of its era, thanks to its ability to travel at 100mph with five people and their luggage. 

This year’s event will feature ‘97 DMH’, driven by adventurer Charley Boorman. A MK VII very similar to this was famously piloted to victory in the 1956 Monte Carlo Rally by Ronnie Adams. 

Adding glamour to the 2015 Mille Miglia challenge is ‘OOF 748’ - the XK120 affectionately christened as ‘Betsey’ by TV presenter and current host of Channel 5’s The Classic Car Show, Jodie Kidd, who drove this stunning Jaguar in the 2014 trial. 

She will again drive ‘Betsey’ in this year’s event, this time partnered by male supermodel, GQ.com columnist and classic car enthusiast, David Gandy. 

The successor to the XK120, the XK140, arrived in September 1954 and continued its predecessor’s legacy of grand two-seater open-top motoring. 

The specific XK140 racing in this year’s Mille Miglia, registered ‘TAC 743’, was once owned and raced by successful British racing driver David Hobbs. 

Fully restored by Trevor Groom back in 2006, it will be driven by Elliot Gleave, aka musician Example, and his father Michael. It completes Jaguar’s team of contenders at the 2015 Mille Milglia.

Jaguar is celebrating its 80^th anniversary by once again taking on the legendary challenge that is the Mille Miglia. Held from 14-17 May in Italy, Jaguar Heritage Racing will be fielding a team of drivers who will cover more than 1,000 miles from Brescia-Rome-Brescia in nine of the marque’s most celebrated models.

Famous faces from the world of motorsport, TV and music will put their historic Jaguars through their paces on the gruelling route which takes place over four punishing but unforgettable days starting in Brescia, heading to Rimini, Rome, Parma and then back to Brescia. 

Crowds lining the route will get to see examples of historically-significant Jaguar XKs, C-types and D-types hurtling past them with famous faces in the cockpits.

Five-time winner of the Le Mans 24hr, three-time Daytona 24hr winner and world sportscar veteran, Derek Bell, will make his Mille Miglia debut driving a Jaguar C-type.  Derek is driving as a guest of art collector and classic car enthusiast Adam Lindemann.

Piloting the second C-type, ‘NDU 289’, will be Jaguar Vehicle Integrity Chief Engineer Mike Cross, while the final C-type, ‘PUG 676’, will be driven by Royal Automobile Club Motoring Committee Chairman, Ben Cussons.

Driving ‘RSF 303’, a priceless Jaguar D-type ‘Long Nose’ Ecurie Ecosse racer, which finished second at Le Mans in 1957, will be Jaguar Design Director, Ian Callum. A veteran of the Mille Miglia, Ian drove with US chat show host Jay Leno in the 2014 event - this year he will be partnering up with businessman and classic car enthusiast, Clive Beecham.

At the wheel of a Jaguar MK VII will be a man who’s no stranger to speed and sleep deprivation – Charley Boorman. More used to two wheels than four thanks to his many motorbike adventures, Charley will be partnered by Bremont co-founder Giles English. The fastest saloon car of its day, a Jaguar MK VII was famously piloted to victory in the 1956 Monte Carlo Rally by Ronnie Adams with co-drivers Frank Biggar and Derek Johnstone.

Making for a very glamorous cockpit is ‘OOF 748’ - the XK120 roadster of model, TV presenter and current host of Channel 5’s The Classic Car Show, Jodie Kidd, whose co-driver will be male supermodel, GQ columnist and classic car enthusiast, David Gandy.

Host of the hugely popular BBC One show, Saturday Kitchen and well-known TV chef, James Martin, will be partnered by Bremont co-founder Nick English, brother of Giles. They will share the penultimate ‘Long Nose’ Jaguar D-type ever built, registered ‘393 RW’. Completing the trio of D-types will be one of the classic car world’s most respected experts, Simon Kidston.

Completing the Jaguar Heritage team line-up is successful British singer/song-writer Elliot Gleave, otherwise known as Example. Elliot will be driving a XK140 with his father, Michael, as co-pilot. The XK140, registered ‘TAC 743’, was once owned by successful British racing driver David Hobbs.

On the Mille Miglia, a number of new Jaguar XEs will also support the Jaguar Heritage Racing team, following the full route through Italy with broadcast crews and VIP guests.

Alpina celebrates 50 years with a set of special editions, be quick, only 50 will be produced.

Extensively revised V8 is the most powerful roadcar engine in the company’s history

Bespoke car manufacturer ALPINA will create 50 remarkable saloons (or estates) and 50 similar coupes to celebrate the company’s half century this year. Based on the B5 Bi-Turbo and the B6 Bi-Turbo respectively, each vehicle will include hand-crafted Edition 50 body and trim features and a remarkable, heavily revised V8 that will propel the luxury five seater from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 204 mph. 

ALPINA’s fifty year heritage includes the creation of some of Europe’s most highly-regarded luxury performance road cars and iconic race cars including the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL.

With an astonishing 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) and 441 kW (600 hp), Edition 50 is the most powerful road car ever developed by the German company. A notable testament to ALPINA’s 70-strong engineering team is that this huge performance is combined with fuel economy (on the most representative combined cycle) of 29.7 mpg and best in-class CO₂ emissions of 221 g/km.

“Edition 50 is the ultimate expression of the ALPINA values,” explains ALPINA GB brand manager Matthew Stripling. “It combines very high levels of long-term comfort with superb performance that is available from low engine speeds, making it effortlessly fast. Add the deep base soundtrack and the feeling of bespoke luxury, and you have a highly engaging car that offers a unique set of attributes for the discerning enthusiast.”

Based on BMW’s proven 4.4 ltr V8, the B5 Bi-Turbo’s heavily-revised engine uses two ALPINA-specific turbochargers located between the cylinder banks, operating in parallel, delivering up to 1.2 bar. Particular attention has been paid to air flow optimisation, with short intake paths and optimised radii to allow near-instantaneous throttle response. Charge density and thermal stability are further enhanced by a combination of large-volume air-cooled intercooler behind the bespoke front spoiler with two smaller, ALPINA-developed water-cooled intercoolers close coupled to the turbochargers. 

A large-capacity oil radiator and supplementary coolant radiator, also mounted behind the front spoiler, further improve thermal stability. Many other engine components have also been optimised for very high performance with long life, including new light-weight pistons designed to accommodate the high thermal loads of prolonged high-performance driving.

Compared with the standard B5 Bi-Turbo, further optimisation of the induction system, a high-capacity fuel system and other unique upgrades have released an additional 70 Nm (52 lb-ft) and 44 kW (60 hp) for the Edition 50 yet the car offers the same high levels of durability that would be expected from any ALPINA. Like all new ALPINAs, it will be supplied with a two year BMW-endorsed warranty.

The aerodynamics, transmission, handling, comfort, styling and weight have also received further attention. The cars feature the first major restyle of the ALPINA Classic wheel for more than a decade. Side cuts in each spoke combined with a design that takes advantage of the high strength that can be achieved with forging, has reduced the weight of each set of four wheels by 15.6 kg compared with the previous 20” design; a remarkable achievement considering the width has increased to 9” at the front and 10” at the rear.  Each wheel carries the Edition 50 logo on the rim and provides a clear view of the ALPINA Blue brake callipers. 

The light-weight titanium exhaust system, developed with specialist supplier Acrapovic, improves throttle response by minimising back pressure and saves a further 17 kg compared with a stainless steel system. A limited slip differential is also standard, as are subtle aerodynamic enhancements developed in BMW’s wind tunnel.

Inside, the Edition 50 can be specified with unique, hand-crafted sports seats in black leather with luxurious Forest Green quilting on the squab and backrest centre sections, complemented by yellow and black stitching. Trim panels are in ALPINA piano black with EDITION 50 and the signature of company founder Burkard Bovensiepen displayed in front of the passenger. 

A special ‘1965 – 2015’ logo appears on metal emblems on the seat backs, in the carpets and on the key ring. Each car’s limited edition number will be displayed on a production plaque on the centre console and also on the reverse of the keyring. A host of other luxury features include ceramic finish controls, a full leather instrument panel and two additional levels of optional interior leatherwork, created and fitted at ALPINA’s saddlery. All of the bespoke, luxury features of the B5 Bi-Turbo are standard, including instruments in ALPINA Blue and a steering wheel covered in finest-quality, hand-stitched Lavalina leather.  

Each car will be available in ALPINA Green or ALPINA Blue, or in a bespoke Edition 50 Sepia created by BMW Individual. ALPINA’s iconic decal sets can be specified along the sides and on the front spoiler, in coordinating green or blue with Edition 50 lettering. Very small numbers will be available in the UK, with prices from £86,850.

50 years of bespoke cars

ALPINA Burkard Bovensiepen KG was established on the 1st of January 1965 in Kaufbeuren. Two years later it adopted the now-famouse badge featuring a twin-choke downdraught carburettor and a crankshaft on a shield; a proud symbol of the company’s dedication to superb engineering.

Although today the company is focussed largely on road cars, its ethos has been formed by decades of racing success with a driver roster that includes Derek Bell, James Hunt, Jacky Ickx, Niki Lauda, Brian Muir and Hans Stuck. Production reached 1,700 in 2014 – a new record – and there are currently no plans for significant growth beyond this.

Bentley prepares for the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed with an exclusive line up of cars. Spanning the company’s rich 95‑year heritage, the Bentley models on display at Goodwood showcase the best in British luxury and performance.

Making its global debut on the Bentley stand is the new Continental GT3-R – the most dynamic and fastest-accelerating Bentley ever produced. Inspired by Bentley’s race-winning Continental GT3 racer, the GT3-R is powered by Bentley’s race- and road-proven 4.0 litre V8 engine, producing 580 PS and 700 Nm of torque. A weight reduction of 100 kg combines with torque vectoring and shorter gearing to deliver a breathtaking driving experience.

The GT3-R is limited to just 300 examples, all hand built in Crewe and finished by Bentley’s motorsport department, and will be on display on the Bentley stand throughout the Festival weekend.

The inspiration behind the GT3-R – the Continental GT3 race car – will also be making an appearance at Goodwood. Fresh from its recent victory at the second round of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Silverstone, the GT3 will be piloted up the hill by modern-day Bentley Boy David Brabham, who drove a Bentley Speed 8 to second place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003, completing the famous Bentley 1-2. The Continental GT3 takes to the hill throughout the weekend, while Team M-Sport Bentley enters its two GT3 cars in the next round of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Paul Ricard in southern France.

Tracing the roots of the brand’s racing heritage, three historic Bentleys will reunite for the first time in over a decade to complete Goodwood’s famous Hillclimb. The Speed Six Bentley, affectionately known as ‘Old Number 1’, won Le Mans in 1929 and 1930 with Woolf Barnato partnering Henry ‘Tim’ Birkin (1929) and Glen Kidston (1930) as well as winning at Brooklands.

This unique and celebrated racing car will be accompanied by two more classic Bentleys. ‘Old Number 2’ and ‘Old Number 3’ are both in their original form and raced alongside Old Number 1 at Le Mans in 1930.

An exquisite line-up of Bentley’s luxury performance road cars will be displayed on the company’s stand, with one of the latest additions to the range – the Continental GT V8 S – being driven up the hill by five-time Le Mans winner and Bentley Boy, Derek Bell. For the first time, Bentley will also be displaying a range of pre-owned models, on a separate stand in the Exhibitors’ Area.
