Subaru reaches 15 million vehicles that utilise their all wheel drive system, but it has taken 44 years.

  • Milestone achieved in the 44th year of production
Subaru of America, Inc. announced today that total production of Subaru All-Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles from their parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), reached 15 million units. This milestone was achieved in the 44th year of production of AWD vehicles with the introduction of the Subaru Leone 4WD Estate Van in September 1972.

Since then, Subaru has continuously enhanced its AWD technology and the basic functions of its cars, with the consistent strong aim to make driving safer and more enjoyable.
In 2015, AWD models accounted for 98 percent of Subaru’s global sales. Fitted with the horizontally-opposed SUBARU BOXER® engine, all of these models featured Subaru’s distinctive symmetrical AWD system.
Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive offers a combination of superior stability and traction intrinsic to AWD and balanced distribution of weight provided by the symmetrically-laid-out drivetrain with a longitudinally-mounted BOXER engine positioned in line with it. The synergy delivers excellent performance such as stability at high speeds and brisk cornering. The symmetrical AWD system is one of the core technologies that underpins Subaru’s commitment to safety and driving pleasure.
Under the “Confidence in Motion” brand statement, Subaru will continue to enhance its engineering excellence and distinctive appeal to offer an “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind” driving experience to customers worldwide.

Subaru Automobiles’ parent company Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI) has announced its global production and sales forecast for 2016.
Following another record in 2015 when the company sold 978,000 vehicles world-wide, the company has projected a sixth straight record again this year with a global forecast of 1,033,000 vehicle sales. If it reaches its target, it would be the first time in its history it has surpassed the million vehicle’s sold mark.

Subaru has been performing strongly in every region, but in particular the US and Canadian markets continue their upward trend unabated with growth of 13 and 14% respectively. Closer to home, Subaru UK saw an increase of 24% in 2015 with a volume of 3,455 registrations, and anticipates a further modest increase this year.
Global production is also set to increase and to be in excess of one million vehicles for the first time. L.A. SHOW - Subaru previews the look of it's next generation Impreza, and the look of all future Subaru's.

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, today unveiled the "Impreza Sedan Concept" at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Impreza Sedan Concept is a design concept car previewing the next-generation Impreza which is to be the first one of Subaru's next-generation strategic vehicles envisioned in FHI's Mid-Term Management Vision "Prominence 2020" announced in May 2014.

While positioned as an entry model in the Subaru lineup, its compact body features a blend of bold expressions of Subaru's Dynamic & Solid design elements and a quality feel beyond its class - hinting at the design direction not only of the new Impreza but of Subaru's future models as a whole.
Main Features of Impreza Sedan Concept

The front, sides, and rear are seamlessly joined in the Dynamic & Solid surface structure, creating a three-dimensional and solid body that is a feature of Subaru styling. The dynamism is enhanced by well-placed character lines on the compact sedan style.

The design expression of "Enjoyment and Peace of Mind", the value that Subaru provides to its customers, is fully pursued within the limits of the C-segment body size. In the area of functionality essential to a Subaru car, excellent aerodynamic performance is achieved while blending this functionality into the styling.

The new exterior color "Ruby Red Metallic" has been adopted to express sporty and energetic impression. It is highlighted by glossy-black accents offering high quality-feel.

  • Front
The Subaru look is seen in the Wide & Low stance with its sporty impression, and in the unified three-dimensional structure extending from the hexagonal grille that symbolizes the Subaru identity to the hawk-eye headlights. The front face plays the role of starting point from which the front flows via the sides to the rear, with each part uniting into a solid form.

  • Sides
The rich inflection of the character line extending from the front fender to the door panels and rear shoulder, and the line rising energetically toward the rear from the lower door panel, give dynamism to the solid body surface. The powerfully extended fender flares express the reliability of Subaru All-Wheel Drive.
