GOODWOOD - Aston to debut the All-New DB11 with it's first public running up the famous Hill.

Aston Martin is set to continue a tradition of thrilling the crowds at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week. Visitors to the annual must see event which is a glorious celebration of motoring and motorsport, will be treated to the sights and sounds of the best sports cars that the British luxury brand has to offer.

The Festival of Speed plays host to the global dynamic debut of the new Aston Martin DB11. Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the DB11 marks a new chapter in the illustrious ‘DB’ bloodline. 

It is the most powerful, efficient and dynamically gifted DB model in Aston Martin’s history, teaming exceptional design with the latest technology to create a car that is the most significant new Aston Martin since the introduction of the DB9 in 2003.

Aston Martin President and CEO, Dr Andy Palmer will be behind the wheel of the DB11 at Goodwood to demonstrate all 608PS of the in-house designed 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. He commented: “The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the best events of the summer season and Lord March’s beautiful estate has become a place of pilgrimage for car enthusiasts.

“Being the first person to drive the new DB11 up the famous hill climb at Goodwood is a great honour on behalf of all our employees.”

Making a return to the Festival of Speed is the Aston Martin Vulcan, which made its world debut at Goodwood in 2015. Born out of extensive motorsport experience – and using the brand’s acknowledged flair for design and engineering ingenuity – the 820bhp, all-carbon fibre Aston Martin Vulcan delivers truly extreme performance.

Powered by a potent 7.0-litre V12 normally aspirated engine, Aston Martin Vulcan is expected to reach speeds of over 100mph as it roars to the top of Goodwood’s famous hill climb. Strictly limited to just 24 models worldwide and now sold out, the Festival of Speed is a great opportunity to showcase the skills of the special projects division responsible for the brand’s most intense and exhilarating creation to date.

Aston Martin Racing works’ driver and high performance development driver Darren Turner said: “Last year the car was only three days old when we arrived at Goodwood and we hadn’t even done a circuit test. Since then we’ve completed 15,000kms of testing and the car is now an incredible machine to drive. Despite being straight out of the box last year its performance over the weekend was fantastic. I’m looking forward to going back up the hill in the Aston Martin Vulcan and this time really being able to push.”

The Festival of Speed will also be a celebration of all things Vantage for Aston Martin.  The race-bred Aston Martin Vantage GT8 will take part in the Supercar Shootout up the Goodwood hill on Saturday in the capable hands of Aston Martin Racing Works driver Darren Turner.  The car is equally at home on the road or on the track so it is expected to feature strongly.

Inspired and influenced by the 2016 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE race car, the Vantage GT8 is a true thoroughbred. The lightest and most powerful V8 Vantage ever, the Vantage GT8’s dramatically sculpted carbon fibre bodywork has been shaped by race-bred aerodynamic function. With a super-sharp chassis tuned for track-focused agility, powered by a revised 446PS version of Aston Martin’s rousing 4.7-litre V8, the Vantage GT8 has unmistakable style, a no-nonsense stance and a driving experience that’s second to none.

The Aston Martin V12 Vantage S is the marque’s offering to the purists and it will be demonstrating its exceptional agility at the Festival of Speed. Offered with a 7-speed manual transmission, featuring a ‘dog-leg’ first gear, the Vantage S epitomises Aston Martin’s commitment to building exceptional sports cars.

Aside from the high speed dynamic attractions at the 23^rd Festival of Speed, Aston Martin will also have a strong presence at the event’s Moving Motor Show.

McLaren Automotive will return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this summer celebrating race wins and titles spanning more than five decades. McLaren will honour the drivers and championships where the team has claimed the top step of the podium, in the ultimate expression of ‘Full Throttle – The Endless Pursuit of Power’. 

McLaren House will once again return to the lawns of the Goodwood Estate, with iconic racers displayed alongside the full range of modern-day McLaren models in the Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series. 

The broad selection of models, spanning more than 50 years of the McLaren name, will be the most extensive display of McLaren models ever showcased, including the new 570GT.

As in previous years, McLaren will also be present in the Supercar Paddock with models from each of the three tier range. 

The recently announced track-only 570S Sprint will make its global dynamic debut on the famous Goodwood Hill alongside the 570S Coupé from the Sports Series, while the 50th anniversary of the Can Am championship will be celebrated by the 650S Can Am by MSO, joined by the sold-out 675LT Spider representing the Super Series. 

The McLaren P1™ GTR completes the line-up. As the most powerful McLaren ever built, the Ultimate Series model is the true reflection of an endless pursuit of power.

The 2016 season is a key anniversary for motorsport, and McLaren in particular. milestones of note include the 50th anniversary of the Can-Am series, the 100th running of the Indy 500, 40 years since British racing legend James Hunt’s dramatic Formula 1™ title and 30 years since Alain Prost claimed his second world title. 

The results – each a major achievement in its own right – have contributed to the rich tapestry of racing history, and forms part of the heritage of the most successful team in global motorsport.

The brutal McLaren M8D from the 1970 season, finished in iconic McLaren Orange heritage livery, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the no-holds-barred Can Am series of the 1960s-70s. 

Revered as the ultimate test of engineering and bravery, the series established McLaren as the team to beat, claiming five back-to-back championships led by New Zealand-born racer and team-founder Bruce McLaren.

2016 marks the 100th running of the Indy 500, a race which McLaren has been victorious at on three separate occasions. The debut for McLaren at the famous ‘Brickyard’ was with the Gordon Coppuck-designed M15 in 1970. 

The design used the single seater Can-Am sports car experience in chassis layout and conception, winning the prestigious designer’s award for engineering excellence.

Representing 50 years since McLaren entered the Formula 1™ championship is the MP4-2C from the championship-winning 1986 season. Driven by Alain Prost and Keke Rosberg, the MP4-2C is the final iteration of the most successful chassis ever raced in Formula 1™. During 1986, Prost claimed four race victories on his way to his second Drivers’ Championship title.

The  McLaren 570S Coupé  will lead the  charge at  the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed making its global dynamic debut when it joins the famous Supercar Run. It will be joined by the McLaren P1™ GTR and 650S Le Mans, both strictly limited in production and rarely seen in public. 

And marking the first time McLaren has ever demonstrated models from all three of its recently announced product tiers: Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series. 

In addition, the popular McLaren House will return located as last year, adjacent to the iconic Goodwood House overlooking the Hill course, with cars, guest speakers and historic McLaren memorabilia honouring the ‘Flatout and Fearless’ theme of this year’s Festival.

Following its unveil at the New York International Auto Show earlier this year, and a highly successful global tour, the 570S Coupé will take to the Goodwood Hill course throughout the Festival weekend. 

Fitted with a 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine, producing 570PS (562bhp), the 570S Coupé joins the McLaren model line-up as the most powerful model in the recently launched Sports Series, and introduces McLaren DNA and supercar performance to the sports car segment. 

The lightweight and purposeful model will make its global dynamic debut ahead of first customer deliveries beginning later this year.  It can also be seen on the stage at McLaren House.

The 650S Le Mans being brought by McLaren to Goodwood is particularly special. Codenamed ‘XP1’, it is the experimental prototype of the special edition coupé-only model built by McLaren Special Operations, in collaboration with McLaren F1 designer Peter Stevens, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the famous endurance race victory. 

As with the 50 production models which are now sold out, XP1 is finished in bespoke Sarthe Grey, inspired by the colour of the race-winning McLaren F1 GTR, with contrasting McLaren Orange highlights. 

It features styling enhancements from the 1995 race-winner, including a fully-integrated roof-mounted ‘snorkel’ air intake, and wing louvres designed to reduce pressure over the front wheels.

The track-dedicated McLaren P1™ GTR will feature alongside the 650S Le Mans in the Supercar Paddock, and will make its UK dynamic debut at the Festival of Speed. The 1,000PS (986 bhp) model will take part in the dynamic display throughout the weekend, having attended the 24 Hours of Le Mans to be part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the McLaren F1 GTR victory.

Completing the dynamic display will be the McLaren 650S GT3, which was unveiled at the Festival of Speed last year. The 650S GT3 has enjoyed success globally in its competitive debut season, already securing podium finishes in five championships at circuits across North America and Europe with McLaren GT customer teams. 

McLaren House will host a range of models prepared by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) to celebrate the ‘Flatout and Fearless’ theme, each highlighting a ‘moment’ from throughout the history of McLaren and the legendary drivers who have driven for the team over the years.

Visitors will also be invited to be photographed behind the wheel of a McLaren 650S Spider in return for a donation of £2 to the halow project (www.halowproject.org.uk), the selected beneficiary of the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The halow project is a Guildford-based charity committed to supporting young people with a learning disability to have the same life choices and chances as any other young person. From its community based social activities and learning programmes, to its 1:1 personalised support via its Buddy service, halow helps young people to gain confidence, skills and be supported to live as independently as possible.
