Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

Andy Murray took on his fastest opponent ever when the British No.1 went head-to-head in a unique contest with Jaguar’s F-TYPE SVR driven by tennis legend, John McEnroe.
At Thruxton, the fastest motor-racing circuit in the UK, the British sporting icon squared off against McEnroe, disguised as a stunt driver behind the wheel of Jaguar’s supercharged high performance vehicles.

Murray said: “Trying to find an inch perfect serve at 130mph against the top players in the world is tough enough, but hitting a target racing past you at 160mph was the toughest and most unique match I’ve had.”
Behind the wheel of Jaguar’s luxury, high performance vehicles, McEnroe initiated the challenge in the Jaguar XE, F-TYPE SVR and the new Formula E racing machine in teaser livery, testing Murray’s precision, power and reaction speeds to the limit.
McEnroe, who revealed himself at the end of the challenge as the driver in Jaguar Racing’s test vehicle, said: “I wasn’t going easy on Andy. You can see from his reaction when he realised it was me. It was priceless! I’ve seen him react badly before, but nothing quite like that.”
The three-time Wimbledon champion admitted he went through a full range of emotions on his first drive of the Jaguar F-TYPE SVR. He said: “Wow! The drive & handling was incredible. I was a bit nervous when the engine first sounded. It’s a bit like the first time you go on a rollercoaster – when the adrenaline kicks in - it’s exhilarating, especially going around the corners at 150mph. It’s a very different sensation to playing in front of 15,000 on Centre Court.”
Murray, who owns a Jaguar F-TYPE Coupé and has already placed an order for the new Jaguar F-PACE, insists he is ready to seal his second Wimbledon title. He said: “I have played my best ever tennis on clay this year, and my form is as good now as it has been over the last couple of years.”
Looking ahead to The Championships, which begins on Monday 27 June, Murray added: “At the start of the year, Wimbledon is the one tournament that every tennis player wants to win. There’s more competition for every point, and the pressure is more intense during these two weeks than at any other Grand Slam. I’m confident I’ve got a great chance.”

John McEnroe swapped his role as a Wimbledon commentator for chauffeur car driver today, as the all-time tennis great surprised two unsuspecting Wimbledon fans with an unforgettable journey to The All England Club.

McEnroe surprised tennis fans Tom Payne and Nick Webb, who were selected to take part in the Secret Chauffeur stunt and offered a VIP trip to Wimbledon as part of Jaguar’s #FeelWimbledon campaign. On route to Wimbledon, the real chauffeur jumped out the car to be replaced by John McEnroe as he took hold of the wheel and personally drove the two unsuspecting fans down to The Championships, Wimbledon.
Jaguar is using cutting-edge sociometic, biometric and atmospheric sensors to analyse and celebrate the unique spectrum of emotions associated with the world’s number one tennis tournament. Documenting The Secret Chauffeur experience, Jaguar captured the emotional reactions of Payne and Webb using biometric wristbands. Hidden cameras were installed in a new Jaguar XE to film the fans responses. Watch McEnroe as The Secret Chauffeur here:https://youtu.be/xbXez5GTujo
Results from the wearables, which are measuring the heart rate of selected fans every day during Wimbledon, shows both Payne and Webb’s heart rate increased dramatically when McEnroe switched as their driver. When McEnroe was revealed, Tom Payne’s biometric wearable device showed his excitement and heart rate which increased by 60.3% to 93 bpm. It continued to rise as the fans quizzed McEnroe on his thoughts about Murray’s chances to win a second Wimbledon title, and posed for photographs with the American tennis legend outside the famous gates to the world’s premier tennis tournament.
Before resuming his media duties for the day, McEnroe, said: “I was very happy to be part of this creative stunt with Jaguar. This is the greatest Grand Slam of them all – both in the eyes of the players and fans – and the surprise on Tom and Nick’s faces when I got in the car shows just how excited the fans get at Wimbledon.”
Tom Payne said: “I thought I was just coming to Wimbledon to watch the quarter finals and enjoy the atmosphere, but to be driven there in style by the legend John McEnroe was incredible. It was an awesome surprise!”
Nick Webb added: “I think my reactions say it all! Walking into Wimbledon with McEnroe was something I’ll never forget. Thank you to Jaguar for such a brilliant start to our day at Wimbledon.”
