SEAT Cars to complete a huge building to house upwards of 119,00 boxes of parts

Pioneering company in Industry 4.0
  • The new 43.7 metre tall building will be able to process 119,000 boxes of parts and components
  • Work on the new facility will conclude in the last quarter of 2018
SEAT continues with its commitment to making the Martorell factory a benchmark of Industry 4.0 with the construction of a new, automated logistics centre, providing storage for parts and components and equipped with smart technology to make its operation completely automated. With a total capacity for 119,000 boxes and a maximum height of 43.7 metres, it will be the tallest logistics warehouse in Spain.
Construction work on this facility, which will become the pillar of SEAT’s Logistics Centre at the Martorell factory, is scheduled to conclude in the last quarter of 2018.

According to SEAT Vice-President for Production Dr. Andreas Tostmann, “the creation of this wholly automated logistics centre once again demonstrates that SEAT is a benchmark company in every area of Industry 4.0”. “With this project we are taking a qualitative leap forward in our service capacity and our vision of achieving logistics management excellence by increasing efficiency in the manufacturing process of our vehicles”, he added.

SEAT’s new warehouse will have a total surface area of 5,700 m2 divided into two facilities. In the first one, with a height of 43.7 metres, up to 500 containers will be shifted every hour. It will have a capacity for 24,000 containers stored in seven aisles. The second, at 21 metres high, will feature five aisles for storing more than 95,000 boxes, where 1,100 will get shifted every hour.
This new facility represents another breakthrough in the logistics processes at the Martorell factory, which in recent months have received several awards. Just recently, SEAT won the Manufacturing Excellence 2017 award in the category of Logistics and Logistics Network Management.
The judging panel of this award, which is considered one of the major events in the industrial sector, was particularly impressed by the factory’s excellent performance in supplier management and internal logistics. Likewise, last June the Barcelona International Logistics Exhibition recognised SEAT for the efficiency and technological innovation of the SEAT Easy Smart Logistics project.

PARIS - SEAT launches a new Small SUV, news that Ibiza will get its 5th generation and Leon will be updated all next year.

  • The new SUV crossover available in 2017 will be called SEAT Arona
  • First SEAT will update the Leon and launch the fifth generation Ibiza
  • SEAT unveils the Ateca X-Perience, which shows the future potential of the Ateca
  • Highlights of the stand include an interactive 4D amphitheatre, a non-stop press conference and a car configurator that uses BitBrain technology
  • SEAT is preparing to offer the easiest mobility experience in the scope of a transforming automotive sector
SEAT has chosen the Paris Motor Show as the backdrop to reveal the details of the biggest product offensive in its history.
Following the Ateca, the brand will update the Leon in 2017, launch the fifth generation Ibiza and conclude the offensive by making its debut in the crossover segment with the new SEAT Arona, a designation that was also unveiled today.
Arona is the name of a city on the island of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, as well as a place in the Italy’s Piedmont region. The new SEAT Arona will be developed and manufactured in SEAT’s Martorell factory in Barcelona.

SEAT President Luca de Meo explained that “the Leon, the Ibiza and the new Arona, together with the Ateca, are going to strengthen SEAT from a commercial, financial and brand image standpoint. 2017 is going to be a very special year for SEAT.”
Ateca X-Perience, a new SUV experience
The company is showcasing the new Ateca X-Perience in Paris and it will be, together with the Ateca, the centre piece from today until next 16 October. The Ateca X-Perience is a more adventurous, off-road version of SEAT’s first ever SUV, which by now has become the company’s third pillar. In the first few months following its launch it has accumulated over 21,000 orders, more than 39 million web visits and 1.5 million configurations via the Internet. The Ateca X-Perience, inspired by the Mediterranean culture, shows its most adventurous, off-road side and is an exercise that demonstrates the possibilities of the Ateca family and its future potential.
The SEAT stand, a 4D experience to live the brand
The Paris Motor Show is the ideal setting for SEAT to reveal its vision of the company, with the connected car as the key to future mobility. And for the occasion, the unique staging of an innovative double stand concept is different from anything seen until now at any motor show event and has been designed around 4D experiences that enable visitors to live and feel the brand and the city of Barcelona. In line with the growing role that is being played by digitisation in the company’s corporate strategy, the slogan “SEAT Always ON!” serves as inspiration for how the brand is staging its image in Paris. The stand features a 4D amphitheatre with a non-stop press conference as well as a car configurator that uses BitBrain technology to customise the SEAT Ateca according to visitors’ emotions and neurological input.
The outdoor area of the stand features a press room, a chill out zone and a place for socialising, among others, so that visitors can live and experience the brand. The Created in Barcelona concept will also shine a light on the city to highlight its modernity and its role as an international benchmark of urban design, all values shared by SEAT.
SEAT, ready to take things to the next level
In the next ten years, the automotive sector will experience a revolution with innovations in electrification, digitisation, new mobility services and connected cars. To respond to these challenges, SEAT has set up an Easy Mobility Team, a transversal crew that is set to lead the company’s transformation in terms of three main working areas: digitisation and R&D; customer experience and business development.
“The connected car at the core of the user experience is our vision of the future of mobility. We want to position the car as a service that offers a digital, connected experience”, underscored Luca de Meo.“Bringing SEAT to the next level means not only working hard to continue delivering even better products and services to our customer, but also using this revolution in the sector to play, this time, a front runner role in some of these new trends. We dream of making SEAT the brand capable of delivering the easiest mobility experience in this fast changing environment,” he added.
SEAT wants to be a leading brand in the field of connectivity and digitisation. In this sense, for example the company has become the first brand in the industry on a world-wide level to feature an app that is compatible with CarPlay, which enables the contents of an iPhone to be viewed and managed from the car.
The objective of the second area of work for SEAT is to enhance customers’ purchase experience and all related services. In line with this commitment, the brand launched the SEAT Live Store, a pioneering platform enabling users a close-up, virtual, personalised look at all the details on a car. The company has also reached an agreement with Amazon France to commercialise the Mii by Mango through the online retail giant.
SEAT will also concentrate its efforts on business development, using new mobility ecosystems to respond to the challenges faced by cities in terms of urban infrastructure, traffic systems and vehicles. An example of this commitment is the signed agreement between SEAT and Conector to launch a startup accelerator specialising in the car industry and mobility, as well as the implementation, in Barcelona, of the CARNET urban mobility research centre.
SEAT, strong and poised for its largest product offensive
The company’s digital transformation coincides in time when SEAT is consolidating its financial results and getting ready for its biggest offensive of new models. SEAT is progressing towards sustainable profitability and expects to close 2016 with profits. The company posted a half-yearly 2016 operating profit of 93 million euros, which is 77% more than the same period in 2015. In addition, sales are increasing for the fourth year in a row, with 277,100 vehicles delivered until August. Following the Ateca, SEAT is going to launch three new models in upcoming years – the updated Leon, the fifth generation Ibiza and the new SEAT Arona.
SEAT is the only company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets cars in Spain. A member of the Volkswagen Group, the multinational has its headquarters in Martorell (Barcelona), exporting more than 80% of its vehicles, and is present in over 75 countries. In 2015, SEAT’s turnover amounted to over 8.3 billion euros, the highest in its history, and the company achieved worldwide sales of more than 400,000 units for the first time since 2007.
SEAT Group employs more than 14,000 professionals at its three production centres – Barcelona, El Prat de Llobregat and Martorell, where it manufactures the highly successful Ibiza and Leon. Additionally, the company produces the Ateca and the Toledo in the Czech Republic, the Alhambra in Portugal and the Mii in Slovakia.
The multinational has a Technical Centre, which operates as a knowledge hub that brings together 1,000 engineers who are focussed on developing innovation for Spain’s largest industrial investor in R&D. SEAT already features the latest connectivity technology in its vehicle range and is currently engaged in the company’s global digitisation process to promote the mobility of the future.

The cars we drive are a reflection of our personalities, a carefully chosen investment that not only gets us from place to place, but defines who we are. For consumers looking for performance and fun, last night at Cosmo’s glitzy #FashFest, SEAT and Cosmopolitan launched the SEAT Mii by COSMOPOLITAN.
The culmination of an 18-month co-creation process between SEAT and Cosmopolitan’s global creative team, regional editors and readers across the UK and Europe, the latest member of the Mii city car family is the perfect car for confident, independent, active young women who are really going places.

“This is a car that adapts to today’s lifestyle by providing amazing solutions that are both intuitive and easy to use. The SEAT Mii by COSMOPOLITAN is dynamic, stylish and versatile, with a daring, edgy appeal. Not only did we strive to create an elegant car, it is designed to be a bold, personal ally for the driver, with amazing solutions that are functional and intuitive,” SEAT’s global marketing director, Susanne Franz said.
Designed with the tastes and preferences of Cosmopolitan’s audience in mind, the Mii by COSMOPOLITAN is agile, exciting to drive and easy to park; an aesthetically pleasing car with personality. Cosmopolitan’s readers participated in the process, sharing thoughts and opinions through surveys and product testing, offering feedback and ideas.
Kim St. Clair Bodden, senior vice president and editorial director of Hearst Magazines International, explains,“Cosmopolitan is the biggest, most powerful young women’s brand in the world, engaging and inspiring our readers to achieve the fun, fearless lives they want.
It has been incredibly rewarding to work with SEAT, our global editors and readers to design a car with all the bells and whistles that really personalise the driving experience.”
Cosmopolitan is supporting the launch with a social media campaign around the hashtag #ThisIsMii, with engaging content based on reader opinions and experiences, creating a conversation around the car, fashion, lifestyle, beauty and work, putting the SEAT Mii by COSMOPOLITAN in context with readers’ lives.
From the social posts, readers can click through to the SEAT website for more detailed information on the Mii by COSMOPOLITAN. Following its debut at Cosmo #FashFest, the Mii by COSMOPOLITAN will be showcased at the Paris Motor Show at the end of this month.
Light and Shade, the Magic of Colour
Small on the outside, yet big on the inside, the Mii by COSMOPOLITAN is versatile, safe, economical, comfortable, reliable and kind to the environment. It’s also sophisticated, feminine and chic, with a design that reflects a bold, audacious, lifestyle.
The Mii by COSMOPOLITAN is available in two colours; Violetto and Candy White, with champagne-toned bismuth details inside and out. Candy White is a smooth tone, while Violetto has an elegant, pearlescent finish, achieved by carefully choosing colour pigments, revealing the ‘flip,’ or light, and the ‘flop,’ or dark, tones.
Even its headlights have an ‘eyeliner’ shape, emphasised in the same way as make-up emphasises the eye. The jewelled, bi-colour alloy wheels works in harmony, offering a surprise sparkle.
The champagne-finish of the door mirrors is reflected in the interior details as well, on the air-vents, the infotainment system surrounds and in the stitching of the car, including the floor mats.
Violet seats are upholstered in Alcantara, high-end, top-quality upholstery; while the ceiling is upholstered in dark tones, providing a sense of glamour.
Aluminium strips in the front footwells are inscribed with “COSMOPOLITAN loves Mii.” The interior chrome details are matte, with the exception of the SEAT logo found on the steering wheel.
As Much Mii as Any Other Mii
Always innovating, SEAT is at the forefront of the growing trend towards collaborations between the car industry and partners in other sectors, first with women’s fashion and accessories retailer Mango, and now with Cosmopolitan.
The SEAT Mii by COSMOPOLITAN launches in the UK in early 2017 with the 1.0 75 PS engine and five-speed manual transmission.  The frugal engine emits 102 g/km of CO2, with fuel economy of 64.2 mpg on the combined cycle.
The Mii by COSMOPOLITAN has all the elements necessary to ensure a safe and comfortable drive, from air-conditioning to “Hill Hold Control” (to prevent roll-back), as well as a list of optional extras that allows the driver to configure a Mii with rear parking sensors and a 300-watt sound system and subwoofer.
And for staying connected, the new infotainment system “Smartphone integration with Drive Mii app” has a smartphone cradle integrated into the dashboard. To amplify the driving experience, the SEAT Mii by COSMOPOLITAN app, “DriveMii” (available in Play Store or App Store for Android and iOS devices) enables the driver to control the infotainment system through a smartphone.
The Mii by COSMOPOLITAN is a car built for and co-created by women who want the time they spend behind the wheel to be as engaging and exciting as every other facet of their busy, fun, fearless lives.

SEAT and Hearst Magazines International have partnered to create a special limited edition of the Mii.

  • The car will be revealed on 15 September in London
  • The new Mii is being co-created by SEAT designers with Cosmopolitan editors and readers
SEAT and Hearst Magazines International have partnered to create a special limited edition of the Mii, the carmaker’s urban utility vehicle. The new Mii by COSMOPOLITAN is being co-created by SEAT designers with Cosmopolitan editors and readers.
The new car will be revealed on 15 September in London at Cosmopolitan’s #FashFest, the five-day consumer-focused festival of fashion which puts the reader firmly on the front row.

SEAT and Cosmopolitan, the best-selling young women’s magazine in the world, began collaborating in early 2015, when Cosmopolitan, the authority on young women’s lifestyles, joined SEAT, recognised for the design of its vehicles, to develop a car that connects with modern women.
Over the course of 18 months, Cosmopolitan’s global creative team, regional editors and readers from across Europe, have provided input and feedback to shape the design of the Mii by COSMOPOLITAN, and helped in the development of the specific accessories included in the new model. Ideas and recommendations from the Cosmopolitan brand will continue throughout the collaboration.
SEAT global Marketing director Susanne Franz has underscored: “The Mii by COSMOPOLITAN is being designed to meet women’s needs in terms of daily usage.
This new car will go beyond aesthetics, it is a functional vehicle where the design has a purpose. Cosmopolitan contributed to transforming the role of women in society and the Mii by COSMOPOLITAN aims to establish a fresh perspective on cars.
The agreement struck with the world’s largest magazine brand for women gives us the opportunity to launch our most feminine car. The Mii by COSMOPOLITAN is a tribute to the modern woman”.
Kim St. Clair Bodden, senior Vice-President, editorial director of Hearst Magazines International, says:Cosmopolitan is the biggest, most powerful young women’s brand in the world, engaging and inspiring our readers to achieve the fun, fearless lives they want.
It has been incredibly rewarding to design the new Mii with all the bells and whistles that really personalise the driving experience, and I am looking forward to its unveiling at Cosmopolitan’s #FashFest in London in September”.
The Mii by COSMOPOLITAN fully connects with the values of both brands and will appeal to young and young-spirited women who are interested in fashion and beauty, who strive for success, have active, fulfilling lives and know who they are and what they want. This special limited edition picks up where the highly successful SEAT Mii by MANGO launched in 2014 left off.
In addition, the agreement will open up new forms of collaboration to present the car to potential customers through several of Hearst Magazines’s communication channels. Cosmopolitan is the playbook for millennial women around the world, with an audience of nearly 100 million, the magazine is distributed in 82 countries and printed in 32 languages.
