(This is one place to avoid at all costs) The Heveningham Hall Concours d’Elegance, hosted in the stunning Capability Brown-designed parkland of Suffolk’s finest Georgian mansion, will fly even higher in its second year, as it coincides with the annual Heveningham Hall Country Fair on 8th and 9th July. 

Sponsored by renowned British watch company Bremont and award-winning English wine producer Gusbourne, The Heveningham Hall Concours d’Elegance will exhibit 50 of the most iconic cars ever produced in the parkland of Suffolk’s finest Georgian mansion. 

Ranging from 1903 to 2017, the concours has revealed its line-up of the world’s most iconic motor cars and aircrafts ever produced which will be presented on the dramatic grass terraces designed by renowned landscape architect Kim Wilkie within the 5,000 acre estate.

Australian racing car driver Mark Webber’s former Mercedes-Benz CLK LM – 1998 - having raced at the world’s oldest active sports car race, Le Mans, will be on display alongside a 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster. With only 150 in the world, the Heveningham Hall Concours d’Elegance will showcase the new Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta – 2017 - alongside its 2014 LaFerrari sibling. 

Also being exhibited are two of the greatest Lamborghini’s of all time, the Lamborghini Miura SV – 1971 - alongside an ultra-rare Miura SV Jota. With a total of 989 hybrid horse power, the McLaren P1 GTR – 2016 will also be previewed on Heveningham Hall’s landscaped gardens alongside a 1995 McLaren F1 GTR.

Vintage cars in attendance will include no less than four of the world’s finest pre-war Alfa Romeos plus two rare Aston Martin Ulsters and a Ferrari 250 MM, Ferrari 212 Barchetta, Bugatti 35B and many, many more.

On top of 50 of the most iconic cars that the automotive industry has ever produced, Heveningham Hall will play host to an array of vintage aircraft for the first time, in an aviation concours that also runs over the weekend. Celebrating exquisite engineering and detailing in all its forms, aircrafts will include the de Havilland DH Fox Moth ZK-AGM – 1932 and Boeing Stearman PT-17 Kaydet – 1941.

Not only that, but another innovation is the Suffolk Border Tour for owners which will take place on Friday 7th July, before the Concours opens to the public (8th & 9th July). This event will allow owners to drive their cars on a 50-mile route through the Suffolk countryside, stopping over the county border for a clay-pigeon shoot and picnic before returning to Heveningham Hall in the afternoon: ready for the Concours over the weekend.

As usual, there will be three categories of motorsport winners: pre-war, post-war and best supercar, plus a new aviation award – the Hanna Aviation Trophy - winners will all receive a specially-commissioned bronze trophy from renowned Suffolk sculptor Laurence Edwards.

The traditional background to the Concours, now in its second year, is the Heveningham Hall Country Fair, which recently celebrated its 20th birthday. 

As a result, this is truly a family day out for everybody, incorporating dancing horses, livestock, flypasts, aerobatic displays, powerboating and off-roading plus, much, much more. All profits raised go to charity and more than £600,000 has been raised over the years.

Max Hunt, chairman of the judging panel (and successful Dakar bike rider) said: “What’s amazing about the weekend is that it’s so different to any other sort of Concours: there really is something for everybody, including planes now as well. 

You might even find a few bikes in there too! Our plan was to keep the best bits of last year while adding some exciting new elements for year two. The line-up of cars we have is simply awesome: I can’t wait to see them all together. And a massive thanks to Bremont: we’ve found the perfect partner.”

A key charitable partnership with the Royal College of Art has also been announced. 

The Heveningham Hall Concours RCA Automotive Design Scholarship will see a British student awarded a scholarship to cover fees and living expenses to cover the 15-month MA Automotive Design course in London under the auspices of Professor J Mays, who will also judge the Concours in July. 

The scholarship will be announced at the RCA’s Automotive Design Degree Show on 27th June at the RCA.

Ferrari opens a new wing to the Maranello Ferrari Museum and starts with two new exhibitions.

The Ferrari Museum of Maranello today opens its new exhibition spaces and two exhibitions - "Under the Skin" and "Infinite Red" - in the presence of President and CEO of Ferrari Sergio Marchionne, Vice President Piero Ferrari, Director of the London Design Museum Deyan Sudjic and Mayor of Maranello Massimiliano Morini.

The Ferrari Museums enjoyed a record year in 2016 with more than 478,000 visitors, of whom 344,000 came to Maranello. 

So also in order to cope with a growing public, the Museum's spaces have been extended by more than 600 square metres to a total of 4,100 square metres, creating a new wing that connects to the existing structure by means of a great continuous glass facade, and a new museum itinerary. 

In addition, a multifunctional space of about 300 square metres has been built, which can host up to 250 people for events, conventions and educational activities. The refreshments area and the Ferrari Store are also completely new.

Two new exhibitions, "Under the Skin" and "Infinite Red", celebrate Ferrari on its 70th anniversary. The former recalls the founder and the evolution of the company's innovation and style, while the latter covers the company's history through its models.

"Under the Skin"

The "Under the Skin" exhibition, created in partnership with the London Design Museum, recounts the creative and engineering development of Ferrari down the years through a series of exceptional cars beginning with the 125 S, the marque's first car. 

Some technical drawings from the historical archive of the Prancing Horse and the engines on display reveal the design process of cars of all eras, casting an unprecedented eye over the engineering work hidden behind their exterior beauty. 

Design models and the Wind Gallery also show the evolution of styles and technologies down the years, recalling how Enzo Ferrari was at the forefront of experimenting with new scientific techniques. 

A parallel exhibition itinerary strongly linked to the first one reminds us of the main biographical stages, the work and the competitive spirit that has made Ferrari famous worldwide. The exhibition will move to the London Design Museum from November.

"Infinite Red"

This exhibition celebrates the 70-year history of the Prancing Horse with some of Maranello's most exclusive creations for track and road. 

The Formula One cars on display have a long series of victories to their name: from the 500 F2, with which Alberto Ascari won for Ferrari the first world drivers' title in 1952, to the F2004, the Ferrari that won the most GPs in history (15, like the F2002) and concluded Michael Schumacher's epic run of world titles, and finally the F2008, which won the World Constructors' Championship. 

Among the GT cars, visitors can admire various models from the 250 family, such as the 250 GT Berlinetta "Tdf", which dominated races in the second half of the 1950s, its evolution the 250 GT Berlinetta SWB and the 250 GTO, a collectors' favourite. 

Then down to the present, the exhibition features a number of limited special series such as the F50, the Enzo and the latest, the LaFerrari, also present in the non-homologated FXX K version for exclusive use on track.

The exhibition "Under the Skin" will remain at Maranello until November 2017, while "Infinite Red" is open until the end of the year. The Ferrari Museum is open every day from 9:30 am to 7 pm (from November to March it closes at 6 pm).

The Aston Martin Vulcan was the first car to turn a wheel at the site of the British luxury carmaker’s second UK manufacturing plant at St Athan in South Wales recently, signaling the start of the redevelopment of the former MOD site into a state-of-the-art facility.

The appearance of the Aston Martin Vulcan though was just the start of an incredible celebration of Aston Martin’s heritage, which brought together 28 very special Aston Martins with a combined value of £65 million in a film produced to celebrate the transfer of ownership of the three super hangars at St Athan.

The vast, empty hangars offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase Aston Martin’s 104-year history in the only way its drivers knew how. Aston Martin Racing’s World Endurance Championship (WEC) drivers, Darren Turner and Nicki Thiim, along with Aston Martin Chief Engineer Matt Becker, had plenty of room to manoeuvre a stunning selection of Aston Martins. That is, until they got caught by the ‘boss’ Aston Martin President and CEO, Andy Palmer.

Enjoy the glorious sights and sounds of Aston Martins from the A3 to the DBR1, the One-77, numerous Vantages, Rapide S and of course the Aston Martin Vulcan, as they spread their wings at St Athan.

In its 60^th year, Aston Martin Works this week hosted a celebration customer track day at the world-renowned Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire.

Works’ clients from across the UK and Continental Europe enjoyed the rare opportunity to put their Aston Martin sports cars to the test on one of the world’s most famous motor racing circuits.

The private event, at which owners savored the chance to test out the true performance potential of their sports cars, saw some of the luxury British brand’s most iconic models put through their paces. 

Among the cars in action were a One-77, a V12 Zagato and an example of the DBRS9 race car. They lined up alongside V8 and V12 Vantages; DB9s, a Virage and a Newport Pagnell-built original Vanquish, among much else.

Commenting on the event Aston Martin Works’ Commercial Director Paul Spires said: “It’s great to see so many of our sports cars being driven so skillfully by such an enthusiastic group of owners.

“When we proposed this idea at the beginning of the year we weren't sure how many people would want to bring along their cars, but the response today has been superb and I believe all involved have had an experience to remember.”

More than 20 Aston Martin sports cars took part, with drivers coached and tutored as required by a group of experienced Aston Martin Performance Driving Instructors.

Vulcan Bomber to take to the skies for its final season, with a flypast at Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.

This year’s Cholmondeley Pageant of Power (CPOP) will play host to the world’s only flying Vulcan, as it embarks on its last ever flight in Cheshire.

After being seen by some 20 million people since her return to the public domain, the Vulcan to the Sky Trust (VTST), which owns and operates the aircraft, has announced that 2015 will be the final flying season for the Vulcan XH558. 

In her 55^th year and her eighth display season following her restoration, this iconic example of British aerospace engineering will make its first and last appearance at CPOP.

The jet-engined, delta wing strategic bomber will be flying over Cholmondeley Castle, its beautiful parkland and 20-acre lake on the final day of the festival - Sunday 14^th June.

Designed and built in the 1950s, the Vulcan was operated by the Royal Air Force from 1956 until 1984. If necessary it could be started in 27 seconds and airborne within two minutes of a squadron scramble.

XH558 was also the last Vulcan to leave RAF service, flying on from 1986 to 1992 as the single RAF Display Vulcan, before being sold into private hands for preservation and ground running in 1993. 

In 1997, a small team headed by Dr Robert Pleming started on the long journey to return the respected aircraft to flight and ten years later, the Vulcan once again took to the skies.

James Hall, event director at CPOP, said: “It’s extremely sad that this is the last time the Vulcan will take to the skies over Cheshire. However, we’re privileged to be the host of this important occasion and look forward to making its appearance a truly special moment for everyone in attendance on the Sunday.”

Dr Robert Pleming, Chief Executive of VTST, said: "We are looking forward to having the opportunity to display XH558 at this great event and giving this iconic aircraft a spectacular Cheshire send off.”

Although the Vulcan will cease to fly from Autumn, VTST is keen for the aircraft to play a key role in technical education.

Dr Pleming continued: “Though she will be unable to fly, we are planning on putting the Vulcan at the heart of a new ‘real world’ learning environment which we hope will not only raise standards of learning within the aviation industry, but also offer a broad education that will attract both local, national and international students.”

The eighth staging of CPOP will celebrate ‘power’ on land, air and water with events on the famous Cholmondeley track. The festival will honour the Lotus marque on Friday, American Muscle cars on Saturday and Eighties supercars on Sunday.

CPOP is welcoming bike legends Dougie Lampkin MBE and Sammy Miller MBE throughout the weekend, in addition to the Millyard Viper V10 and a Suzuki Hayabusa.

Alongside the Vulcan, Sunday will also see the Red Bull Matadors entertaining the crowd with an aerobatic display. 

This exciting air programme will follow the appearance of the RAF Typhoon Display Team on the Saturday.

On the lake there will be a wide range of watersport action including jet ski racing and flyboarding demonstrations.

The above, combined with camping, live music from Tenors of Rock and the RPJ Band and hundreds of exciting trade stands, will make CPOP the family-friendly motorsport event of the summer.
