The Alfa Romeo Giulia has been named a ‘Game Changer’ at the 2017 Autocar Awards as it has signalled ‘a complete transformation for one of the most loved names in motoring’.

The new Alfa Romeo Mito has gone on sale in Ireland priced from €18,295 RRP. Revised for 2016 with a new look to emulate the style and attitude of the all-new Alfa Romeo Giulia, with more technology, a revised range and the introduction of the updated 1.3-litre JTDM-2 turbo diesel with  increased 95hp output and reduced CO₂ emissions (just 89g/km), the new Alfa Romeo Mito is more enticing and competitive than ever before.

To give the Mito the new Alfa Romeo family feel the styling has been revised with new sports grilles, dark-finish headlamp bezels, revised rear bumper designs and new alloy wheels, as well as new Alfa White paint option.

Inside, all models get new upgraded seat upholsteries, Uconnect Live services and a new finish on the centre console, dashboard and door trims. 

Naturally, the new Alfa Romeo logo features inside and out, while the Mito badge adopts the same script as that of the new Giulia.

The entry-point trim level known simply as Alfa Romeo Mito comes with generous standard equipment including new 16-inch alloy wheels, satin chrome-effect exterior detailing (door handles, grille surrounds, headlamp and tail lamp surrounds), air conditioning, Alfa DNA driving mode selector, a rear spoiler and a Uconnect 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity.

Engine choices include the 78hp 1.4-litre petrol (€18,295 RRP), 875cc Turbo Petrol TwinAir 105hp (€19,795 RRP) and the 1.3 JTDM-2 95hp (€20,545 RRP)) and key options include the Visibility Pack (auto headlamps and wipers, and electro-chromic rear-view mirror - €250); Comfort Pack (front centre armrest, rear parking sensors and front seat lumbar adjustment - €500); dual-zone climate control (€600); electric sunroof (€1,100); satellite navigation (€900) and an eight-speaker BOSE audio system (€600).

The mid trim is the new Alfa Romeo Mito Super which builds on the standard Mito’s specification by adding cruise control: 17-inch 'Turbine' alloy wheels; Alfa code immobiliser and alarm; front fog lamps; special upholstery with Eco-Leather side bolstering; aluminium sports pedals, footrest and kickplates; chrome effect window sills; space-saver spare wheel and the Comfort Pack as standard. 

Options available on the Super, in addition to those available on the Mito, include sports leather upholstery (€1,250) and an 18-inch alloy wheel upgrade (€600). 

The engines offered in Super specification include the 875cc Turbo Petrol TwinAir 105hp (€21,095 RRP) and the 1.3 JTDM-2 95hp (€21,845 RRP) and the 1.4 MultiAir 140hp petrol with ALFA TCT transmission and steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles (€23,725 RRP).

The new Alfa Romeo Mito Super Sport, available for just €171 more than the Super trim, offers enhanced specification and even sportier looks available with the 875cc TwinAir 105hp turbo petrol (€21,266 RRP); the 1.3 JTDM-2 95hp diesel engine (€22,016 RRP) or the 1.4 MultiAir 140hp petrol with ALFA TCT transmission (€23,896 RRP).  In addition to the equipment on the Super, the Super Sport adds sports leather upholstery (available in three colour options) with heated front seats; dual-zone air conditioning; 60/40 split folding rear seats; rear privacy glass and red brake callipers.

Alfa Romeo put the stylish three door supermini, which features a new look and more technology, to the test in a unique video to show how the new Alfa MiTo’s urban style and strong personality puts fun back into drivers’ hands.

To capture the new Alfa MiTo’s dynamic spirit and driving capabilities when it comes to performance and agility, the Italian manufacturer placed the spirited supermini in the hands of a masked pro-driver to tackle a warehouse course of colourful powder and paint, and ultimately create an Alfa MiTo work of art. 

In an industry first, the video was captured using the new dual camera feature on the water resistant new iPhone 7 Plus and compatible accessories.

The new Alfa MiTo is equipped with Alfa Romeo’s unique D.N.A system, a driving mode selector which adapts the vehicle’s performance to suit the driver’s style and road conditions.

Starting in Dynamic mode, the new Alfa MiTo blasted through the powder circuit with ease, showing off its sporty performance and stylish new look.

Once the All-Weather mode was selected, the slippery paint also proved no challenge to the new Alfa MiTo thanks to the mode’s improved control and handling in adverse weather conditions. The paint stage also put the iPhone 7’s new water resistant handset to the test.

The engines offered in Super specification include the 875cc Turbo Petrol TwinAir 105hp (£16,360 OTR) and the 1.3 JTDM-2 95hp (£16,960 OTR) and the 1.4 MultiAir 140hp petrol with ALFA TCT transmission and steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles (£18,160 OTR).

In place of the QV Line, the new Alfa Romeo Mito Speciale offers the looks and specification of the new Veloce flagship (which, in turn, replaces the Quadrifoglio Verde) but is available with the 875cc TwinAir 105hp turbo petrol (£17,110 OTR); the 1.3 JTDM-2 95hp diesel engine (£17,710 OTR) or the 1.4 MultiAir 140hp petrol with ALFA TCT transmission (£18,910 OTR) to make it more accessible and more affordable to own. 

In addition to the equipment on the Super, the Speciale adds 17-inch darkened five-hole alloy wheels; a flat-bottom steering wheel; red stitching on the steering wheel, gear shifter and handbrake; steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles on the Alfa TCT version; darkened headlining; sports instruments; sports seats in fabric and Alcantara; dark-gloss finish on the door mirror surrounds and door handles; carbon fibre-effect finish on the headlamp surrounds; sports rear bumper; rear privacy glass and red brake callipers.

The new range-topper, the Alfa Romeo Mito Veloce, is available from £20,500 OTR and is powered by the most powerful engine in the range, the 1.4 MultiAir 170hp petrol with ALFA TCT transmission (with steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles) making it capable of reaching 62mph in just 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 136mph. 

Standard equipment includes 18-inch, darkened five-hole alloy wheels; Alfa Active Suspension system; Brembo brakes with four-piston front brake callipers (finished in red); upgraded Uconnect 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, DAB and Bluetooth connectivity and twin chromes exhaust tail pipes. 

The range of options available on the Alfa Romeo Mito Veloce includes the Visibility Pack (£310); dual-zone climate control (£450); electric sunroof (£750); eight-speaker BOSE audio system (£675) and Sabelt Alcantara Sports seats with carbon fibre shells (£2,000).

The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta has gone on sale in the UK today with revised styling, enhanced specification, new technology, a simplified range structure and a new engine and transmission combination to meet the evolving demands of the premium hatchback buyer.

The new front-end styling comprises a striking new honeycomb grille, piano black bumper inserts (with red highlights on sporty models) and revised headlamp and fog lamp surrounds. 

The new look is complemented by new Alfa Romeo and Giulietta badge designs, new alloy wheels, revised tail pipes and new colours (Alfa White and Lipari Grey), while the interior benefits from revised seat upholsteries and dashboard/door panel finishes, a new trip computer display and a Uconnect infotainment system now with smartphone-enabled LIVE services including music streaming with Deezer and TuneIn, news from Reuters, Facebook and Twitter check in, eco:Drive and my:Car services and traffic updates for navigation-equipped models.

Under the bonnet there’s now the option of combining the 120hp 1.6-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel engine with the ALFA TCT twin dry-clutch transmission. Employing second-generation MultiJet technology with a variable-geometry turbo charger, this engine produces 120hp at 3,750rpm and an impressive 320Nm of torque from just 1,7450 rpm and, when paired with Alfa Romeo’s quick-shifting and smooth ALFA TCT transmission, it can be used as a full automatic (with its responsiveness and shift patterns adjusted via the three-mode Alfa D.N.A. drive selector, along with the power steering assistance, ESC and Q2 electronic differential settings and throttle and brake responsiveness) or as a full manual, either by slotting the dear selector into its sequential gate or by using the standard steering wheel paddle shifters.

This engine and transmission combination has a top speed of 121mph and can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 10.2 seconds, while its official combined cycle fuel-economy and emissions figures matches those of the manual version, returning 74.3 MPG (3.8 l/100 km) and producing just 99 g/km of CO₂.

In the UK, the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta’s model range features five trim levels: Giulietta, Giulietta Super, Giulietta Tecnica, Giulietta Speciale and Giulietta Veloce. The entry-level Giulietta now benefits from burnished headlamp surrounds, satin-finish door handles and new oblique tailpipes, while inside there are new grey and black fabric seats with Alfa Romeo logo on the head restraints, new matte black dashboard insert and luxury floor mats.

The refreshed style elements are accompanied by a comprehensive standard equipment list which includes a leather steering wheel with audio remote controls, air conditioning, five-inch Uconnect LIVE with DAB plus USB and Bluetooth connectivity, luxury floor mats, Alfa D.N.A. selector, six airbags, 16-inch ‘Turbine’ alloy wheels, electric windows all round (one-touch in the front) and steering-wheel paddle shifters on TCT-equipped models. The engines available in this trim level are the 120hp 1.4-litre Turbo Petrol and 120hp 1.6-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel, 120hp (manual or ALFA TCT), 150hp 1.4-litre Turbo Petrol and 150hp 2.0-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel. Prices for the Giulietta start from £18,450 OTR (1.4 Turbo Petrol 120hp).

The Giulietta Super trim level adds dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a front armrest, new 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, rear parking sensors, rear air vents and upgraded seat upholstery and while the engine range comprises the 120hp 1.6-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel (manual or Alfa TCT), 150hp 1.4-litre Turbo Petrol, 150hp 2.0-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel, 170hp 1.4-litre Turbo Petrol ALFA TCT and 175hp 2.0-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel TCT. Prices for the Super range start at £19,300 OTR (1.6-litre JTDM-2120hp).

A new Lusso pack can be added to the Super model to enhance the elegant look of the car and includes a 17-inch alloy wheel upgrade, sports leather upholstery, a rear armrest with third rear headrest, aluminium kick plates, electric lumbar support on both front seats, a height adjustable passenger seat and the 6.5-inch Uconnect Live system with voice-operated satellite navigation and 3D mapping. The Lusso pack is priced at £2,650.

The new Giulietta Tecnica replaces the fleet-oriented Business Edition and again includes the 6.5-inch Uconnect infotainment system with navigation as standard (albeit with more features), along with the Visibility Pack (automatic lights and wipers, electro-chromatic rear view mirror and electrically folding door mirrors), electric lumbar support on both front seats, a height adjustable passenger seat, front and rear parking sensors and a no-cost choice of pastel and metallic paint finishes. New 16-inch wheels, rear privacy glass and side skirts are additional features over the outgoing Business Edition. The available engine range includes the 120hp 1.6-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel (manual and ALFA TCT), 150hp 2.0-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel and 175hp 2.0-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel ALFA TCT. Prices for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Tecnica start at just £19,250 OTR (120hp 1.6-litre JTDM-2).

The Giulietta Speciale offers customers the option of combining the sporty look and feel of the high performance Veloce version with a broad selection of engines. Standard equipment includes a sports suspension; sports bumpers with red Alfa profile; classic, five-hole, 18-inch alloy wheels; Brembo brakes with red, four-piston callipers; new carbon-look headlamp surrounds; an anthracite finish on the mirror caps, door handles, grille and fog light surrounds and the 6.5-inch Uconnect LIVE system with navigation. Prices for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Speciale start at £24,240 OTR (150hp 1.4 Turbo Petrol MultiAir).

Fabric and Alcantara sports seats, aluminium pedals, a flat-bottom sports steering wheel with red stitching and the carbon-look dashboard surrounds and door panels complete the comprehensive Speciale package and engine choices include the 150hp 1.4-litre Turbo Petrol, 150hp 2.0-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel, 170hp 1.4-litre Turbo Petrol  ALFATCT and 175hp 2.0-litre JTDM-2turbo diesel ALFA TCT.

Finally, the new Giulietta Veloce tops the revised line-up and in terms of equipment is similar to the Speciale but with stylish new 18-inch alloy wheels, specific sports suspension tuning, oversized tailpipes and, of course, the most powerful engine in the Giulietta range – the 240hp 1750 Turbo Petrol engine combined with a specially calibrated TCT transmission. Prices for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce start at £28,480 OTR.

Finally, also debuting on the new Giulietta is Alfa Performance, a new service specifically created to enhance the driving experience. Using an array of digital gauges and instruments, drivers can control the main parameters of the car, measure their performance using special timers and see driving statistics on their smartphone, in addition to receiving real-time driving tips. The service is available on Uconnect 6.5” Radio Nav Live.
