Classic Car Auctions to showcase an eclectic range of cars for their final auction of the year.

• 130 ‘everyman’ classics will be offered at auction at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on Saturday 3^rdDecember.
• Lots include a 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo, a 1973 Jaguar E-Type SIII V12 Roadster barn-find, the first ever 1977 Vauxhall Chevette HS and a special VW Beetle charity lot.
• The sale is the auction houses’ final event of 2016 and includes a special viewing day on Friday 2^ndDecember.

Classic Car Auctions returns this weekend with its final auction of the year and a catalogue of 130 quality ‘everyman’ classics for sale on Saturday 3^rd December at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

With a diverse mix of traditional and modern classics on offer, buyers can expect everything from rare, low mileage collectibles, to eighties performance icons, timeless, restored classics and ready for restoration ‘barn finds’, offering the chance to buy some of the most desirable cars on the market, along with some healthy investment opportunities, given the growth in the sub-£100k market.

 

Proving popular at CCA sales, a number of iconic, modern performance cars headline the sale including a remarkable UK supplied, right-hand drive 1992 Honda NSX, finished in striking metallic black with a black leather interior. Supplied with a perfectly suited registration plate, 'J13 NSX', it is estimated at between £30,000 and £35,000.

Another iconic model, a 2001 Subaru Impreza P1 2.0T 4WD 2DR, number 524 of just 1000 limited editions by Prodrive, and with just one previous registered owner, offers great value to buyers with a sale estimate of £10,000 to £12,000. A supercharged 2003 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG, with incredible performance and luxury, also offers buyers exceptional value, with a sale estimate of £8,000 to £10,000.

Fans of British performance models have the chance to own a 1999 Lotus Esprit V8 Twin Turbo, with both low mileage and recent servicing, estimated at between £26,000 and £30,000.

A fantastic choice of Porsches are also available, with a right-hand drive 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo finished in Tahiti Blue and maintained in excellent condition, estimated at between £55,000 and £65,000.

A very well cared for 1983 Porsche 944 Lux, finished in Guards Red with a leather and pinstriped velour interior, and reading just 61,000 miles, is estimated at between £8,000 and £10,000. Also, an attractive 1980 Porsche 911 3.0 SC Targa which has benefitted from much recent expenditure, is expected to achieve between £20,000 and £25,000 on sale day.

Barn-find E-Types are now a regular at CCA, commanding elevated sale prices over the last year, and a UK, right-hand drive 1973 Jaguar E-Type SIII V12 Roadster barn-find, ready for restoration, is therefore sensibly guided at £25,000 to £30,000.

Other highlights of the auction include a 1977 Vauxhall Chevette HS 2.3, a genuine part of motoring history as the very first example off the production line and now fully restored, estimated at between £18,000 and £22,000.

An unusual 1985 Mercedes-Benz 250 Limousine formerly owned by the United Arab Emirates Embassy will be offered at ‘No Reserve’.

Finally, the auction house will be offering a special charity lot, a 1975 Volkswagen 1303 Beetle Convertible, with all proceeds to be donated to 'Bloodwise', to end a year of fundraising for the blood cancer charity.

Time Warp pre production 1991 Ford Granada Scorpio to go under the hammer by Classic Car Auctions.

• A pre-production 1991 Ford Granada Scorpio with just 1,325 miles on the clock, will be offered at auction by CCA.
• The car has been in storage for over two decades and been preserved in excellent condition.
• The car narrowly avoided scrappage thanks to its owner, making it an exceptionally rare find on the market.

A pre-production 1991 Ford Granada Scorpio, used exclusively by Ford for training purposes, will be offered at auction by Classic Car Auctions (CCA) on 3^rd December at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

An incredibly rare find, the car was saved from destruction by its current owner with just 1,325 miles on the clock, and has spent almost all of its life in dry, heated storage having never been road registered.

The right-hand drive, automatic 24V example was built by Ford and donated to a technical college in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to be used for the training of technicians before the production model was launched to the open market.

After a stint in Belfast, the car then visited numerous colleges across Country Antrim as it continued its career as a test vehicle. Once training phases were completed, the car was put into a storage facility.

Training cars were usually scrapped at this stage, but this car, with its demanding technical specification, remained in storage for a number of years.  However, when the current owner, a lecturer at the college, heard that it had been scheduled for disposal, he stepped in to take ownership of the car and save it from being destroyed.

“When I heard the car was going to be destroyed I just couldn’t let it happen,” explains the car’s owner. “It’s in stunning condition and has barely been used. I planned to keep the car forever, but a change in my circumstances means that, sadly, I have to let it go. I’m hoping another Ford fanatic, like myself, will give the car a good home.”

Today, after years of careful preservation, the car appears to be in incredible ‘time-warp’ condition. An inspection of the car reveals that all electrical items are fully functioning, with the interior and exterior looking 'as new', commensurate with its tiny mileage.

Presented in stunning black with a black leather interior, this unique Ford will be offered at ‘No Reserve’ when it goes to auction.

“This car has spent almost all of its life preserved in heated, dry storage and has an unbelievably low mileage for a car that’s 25 years old,” comments Guy-Lees Milne, auctions manager at CCA. “Ford fans and collectors won’t find another pre-production, training car out there in this condition on the market.”

The Recent Jaguar E-Type barn find has sold for above it's highest estimate, other cars like BMW's and Porsches also sold well.

More than 500 registered bidders joined Classic Car Auctions (CCA) at The Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on Saturday 24^th September, snapping up 70 per cent of the classic cars on sale leading to total sales of £1.4million.

More than living up to its pre-sale interest, a 1972 Jaguar E-Type SIII V12 Roadster barn find, owned by the same family for 40 years, sold for an amazing £61,050, more than £20,000 over its upper estimate.

Another 70s sports car, a 1978 Datsun 260Z with just 8,285 miles from new, sold for £24,750 including premium, more than £6,000 over its lower estimate.

A quartet of BMW M3s all found new homes. After an intense bidding war, a 1988 BMW E30 M3 Evolution II sold for £48,400 including premium. The stunning and extremely rare right-hand drive example was highly sought after in the auction room. As was another rare M3, a 1999 BMW M3 Evolution Imola GT2 Special Edition, which sold to a buyer in the room for £20,350. A 1991 BMW E30 M3, sold for £41,250, more than £7,000 over its lower estimate, while a 1994 BMW E36 M3 3.0 sold for £11,440.

Speaking just after the sale, CCA general manager, Guy Lees-Milne, said: "This was one of our best catalogues yet. The auction hall was packed out once again and buyers clearly liked the selection, variety and value of cars we had on offer.”

Porsche fans were spoilt for choice with many fine examples on offer. A 1996 Porsche 911 993 Carrera, sold online with a winning bid of £28,600. Those after something a little different were clearly impressed by a very pretty 1966 Porsche 912 which sold for £31,680.

Collectors of older classic cars fought over a number of special examples. An original, right-hand drive 1946 MG TC Midget, sold after a long bidding war for £35,750, more than £13,000 over its lower estimate. A 1942 Willys Jeep, restored by the Wheeler Dealers boys, sold for an impressive £28,600.

CCA is now inviting entries into its final sale of the year, the December Sale which takes place once again at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre near Leamington Spa, on the 3^rd of December.

One of the smallest actors in the world, the Late Kenny Baker, owed one of the biggest cars, and the Rolls Royce is up for auction.

A luxury Rolls-Royce formerly owned by the late Kenny Baker will be offered for sale at Classic Car Auctions’ (CCA) September Sale on 24^th September at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

As one of the most recognisable and popular actors of the Star Wars franchise for his role as robot side-kick R2-D2, Kenny Baker appeared in six of the blockbuster films.

Kenny purchased his 1982 Rolls-Royce Corniche FHC on 6^th June 2002 and used it at his daily driver for four years. Standing at 3ft 8in tall, one of the smallest actors in showbiz, the luxury coupé was specially adapted to allow Kenny to drive it, with two foot long blocks of wood fixed to the pedals, as well as a sturdy pile of cushions placed on the driver’s seat.

The car, one of the most expensive Rolls-Royce models available when produced, featured the powerful Rolls-Royce V8 engine, a blue leather interior, walnut and chrome detailing, wooden steering wheel and lambswool over rugs.

Kenny was a self-declared fan of Rolls-Royce luxury cars.In fact, such was his love of Rolls-Royce that he took his final journey to Lytham Crematorium in a gleaming black Rolls-Royce limousine.

“Kenny wanted the best car in the world which just happened to be one of the biggest,” comments Guy Lees-Milne, auction manager at CCA. “Today the only indication of the special adaptation are some small holes drilled in the pedals, evidence of the car’s special story and unique provenance, which is sure to attract the interest of Rolls-Royce and Star Wars fans alike on auction day.”

Offered at auction with a sale estimate of £32,000 to £36,000, the car has had four previous owners, including Baker, and has covered 76,500 miles. Presented in good condition, although in need of a little bit of love, the Rolls comes with a comprehensive history file, original handbook, the V5 clearing showing Kenny Baker as a previous owner, and every tax disc since new.

Uber rare, MG ZT 1.8 Litre saloon, comes out of storage in pristine condition with just three miles on the clock.

• Exactly as it left the factory, the current owner believes this is the best condition and lowest mileage MG Rover in the world.

A 2004 MG ZT 1.8 Turbo, with an unbelievable three miles on the clock, will go under the hammer at Classic Car Auctions’ (CCA) September Sale on 24^th September at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

A remarkable find, the current and only owner purchased the car from a Derby based dealer in 2005 who was selling off the cars at half price following the collapse of MG Rover. It was then delivered to his farm just outside Silverstone race circuit with only one mile on the clock.

The owner wanted to have the ‘best in the world’ and so the car was immediately placed into storage, initially in a heated garage, subsequently in a Carcoon and latterly in a Car Bag, which has beautifully preserved the car. Amazingly, the owner has driven the car just two miles along the driveway, meaning the mileage now reads only three miles.  

Now for sale again 11 years later, estimated at between £8,500 and £10,500, the owner believes this is the best condition and lowest mileage MG ZT in the world.

Presented in British Racing Green, it is in immaculate condition and exactly as it left the Longbridge factory. It still has the original ContiSport tyres and even the same fuel that was put in the tank all those years ago. The 1.8 litre turbocharged iconic Rover K-Series engine is gleaming.

Commenting on the sale of the car, CCA general manager, Guy Lees-Milne, said, “It’s amazing that our vendor has never used this car on the road and has cared for the car so much that it has been tucked away and only covered three miles. The time is now right to part with it and Classic Car Auctions are very proud to have been asked to help find it a new home.”

The high spec interior, so well preserved there’s still a new car smell, features half leather seats, green alcantara door lining, air conditioning and CD player.

Guy added, “This really is a special collector’s piece and certainly an amazing example of history from the last domestically owned mass-production car manufacturer.”
