Taiwan is the latest place that will import the storming BAC MONO Supercar.

  • Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) continues to break new ground across the globe by launching BAC Taiwan
  • BAC has exported its highly acclaimed Mono supercar to over 28 territories worldwide since its launch, including Taiwan, but the island will now benefit from a specialist local dealer
  • With exclusive rights to sell the Mono, BAC Taiwan signed a one-year, five-car deal with the Liverpool-based manufacturer
  • BAC Taiwan was launched as part of the company’s contract renewal in South-East Asia, comprising Hong Kong, China and Taiwan
Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) is continuing to take the world by storm and has launched a brand new venture in South-East Asia – BAC Taiwan.
BAC has been exporting its world-renowned Mono supercar to the small island off the east coast of China for a number of years, but it will now benefit from a specially appointed dealer.
With exclusive rights in the territory, BAC Taiwan has signed a one-year deal with the Liverpool-based manufacturer and will have five stunning Monos to sell over the course of 12 months.

The bespoke supercar is a completely unique product that has captured the imaginations of driving purists all around the globe. A true British success story, BAC has exported the Mono to 28 territories worldwide across five continents; and such is the brilliance of the car that new ground is being regularly broken.
Taiwan has an incredibly rich motorsport history and an immense love for driving, which is why the Mono has been so widely desired across the nation despite it being a track-only model.
BAC Taiwan will sell from two locations: the capital city of Taipei and the major port city of Kaohsiung, which are both in close proximity of major racing circuits.
The Longtan National Speedway is less than an hour from the capital, while Taiwan’s most famous track, Penbay International Circuit, is just 45 kilometres from Kaohsiung. These locations are extremely upmarket and wealthy, which makes them perfect for BAC.
This is a ground-breaking venture for BAC. Having such a presence in a territory where the Mono isn’t road-legal is a truly monumental feat and sets the company up to break new ground around the world.
BAC Taiwan was launched as part of another big deal for the British manufacturer, as it renewed its contract in South-East Asia for two years.
BAC Hong Kong caters to Mono fans from Hong Kong and China as well as Taiwan, and it will continue to do so on 12- and 24-car deals until the end of 2018.
Managing Director of BAC Hong Kong, Duncan Lee, said: “We are absolutely delighted to sign a new deal with Neill and Ian Briggs and the guys at BAC. BAC Hong Kong has been a huge success since it opened in late 2015 and interest in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan has been forever growing. We’re very much looking forward to catering for demand across the territories and distributing more and more Monos over the next two years.”
Neill Briggs, BAC Co-Founder and Director of Product Development, added: “We’re absolutely thrilled to launch BAC Taiwan and continue our expansion around the world. Having a specialist dealer in a country where the Mono isn’t road-legal is testament to just how impressive a machine it is and just how competitive it is as a track car. Taiwanese people love their cars and, clearly, they’re big fans of the remarkable engagement and accessibility of the Mono.”

BAC takes large development leap by using graphene on the single seater supercar, the Mono.

  • BAC takes large development leap by using graphene on the single seater supercar, the Mono
  • The use of the innovative material is a world first, as BAC further illustrates its ability to make technological advancements
  • The panel development was done in collaboration with Haydale Composite Solutions
  • The lightweight material features on the Mono’s rear wheel arches
  • graphene is lighter and stronger than carbon fibre, bringing weight and performance benefits
BAC is the first manufacturer in the world to develop a car featuring panels made from graphene, the innovative and lightweight material that brings weight and strength benefits.
BAC has partnered with Haydale Composite Solutions to create rear wheel arches made out of graphene, and has been putting the material through its paces on the Mono, the world’s only road legal single-seater supercar.

Graphene is made of sheets of carbon just one atom thick, and is significantly lighter than standard carbon fibre. It is also stronger than carbon fibre, meaning that it can bring weight reductions of around 20% while being 200 times stronger than steel. These benefits could have implications for cost, performance and fuel economy when applied wider in the manufacturing process.
BAC chose to test the use of graphene on the rear wheel arches due to the size and complexity of the part, to thoroughly test the manufacturing process and how the material fitted in with the car.
BAC Development Director and co-founder Neill Briggs said: “BAC is uniquely placed in the automotive industry to be able to take innovative steps, and latest work with graphene is further proof of this. This development work is further proof of our ability to work with the very latest materials and innovators. At BAC we don’t wait for new technology to come to us, we actively seek it out and work with the very best in the industry to stay at the forefront of the automotive and motorsport industries.
“Making significant weight savings and improving body strength will allow us to offer improved performance to our customers. This is the latest in a line of ground-breaking innovations on the Mono, and we were delighted to have worked with graphene composite industry leaders, Haydale, on this exciting project.”
Ebby Shahidi, Haydale Composite Solutions Ltd.’s Director of Aerospace and Defence added: “We are pleased to have worked on the design and development of the graphene enhanced carbon fibre materials for the BAC Mono. These initial materials have shown some major increases in impact and thermal performance coupled with improved surface finish and it’s pleasing to see these attributes being demonstrated on such a high performance vehicle as the Mono.
“We look forward to collaborating further with BAC and delivering even higher performance materials and components to increase the performance of this exciting vehicle.”
BAC showed the graphene enhanced Mono at the Science in the City festival in Manchester.

Jaguar today announced its return to global motorsport. In the autumn of 2016, Jaguar will enter the third season of the exciting FIA Formula E Championship as a manufacturer with its own team. FIA Formula E is the world’s first global single-seater championship for electric powered cars.

FIA Formula E offers a unique opportunity for Jaguar Land Rover to further the development of future EV powertrain including motor and battery technology.
Nick Rogers, Group Engineering Director for Jaguar Land Rover, said: “I am proud to announce Jaguar's return to racing with an entry into the innovative FIA Formula E championship.
Electric vehicles will absolutely play a role in Jaguar Land Rover's future product portfolio and Formula E will give us a unique opportunity to further our development of electrification technologies. The Championship will enable us to engineer and test our advanced technologies under extreme performance conditions.
"It is my belief that over the next five years we will see more changes in the automotive world than in the last three decades.
The future is about being more connected and more sustainable; electrification and lightweight technologies are becoming more important than ever as urbanisation continues to increase. Formula E has recognised and reacted to these trends and the championship's exciting and pioneering approach is the perfect fit for our brand."
Jaguar Land Rover employs over 8,000 engineers and is the UK's largest investor in research and development across any business sector. Jaguar's Formula E team will be able to draw upon this industry leading resource with Jaguar Land Rover engineers working closely with the race operations team.

Jean Todt, President of the FIA said: “The FIA is pleased to welcome Jaguar as a new manufacturer to enter the FIA Formula E Championship. We built this series to offer an alternative competition for manufacturers to step into the sport and develop road-relevant electric technologies.
The choice of Jaguar to come back to motor racing with Formula E is a proof of success. As it forges a path forward for the future of the electric car, Formula E managed to attract one of the most prestigious and historical brand across the automotive industry. I wish them success ahead of their arrival in 2016/2017.”
James Barclay, Jaguar Team Director, said: “We looked in detail at alternative ways of returning to motorsport.  This was such an important decision for Jaguar and we wanted to get it right. With our future EV plans, Formula E was the obvious choice and we believe that the benefits are enormous.
The FIA and the promoter have exciting plans for the future of the championship and we are proud to be one of the first vehicle manufacturers to commit to the series with our own team. We have a lot of work to do ahead of the first race but it is a challenge we relish.  We hope that we can welcome a new generation of fans to Jaguar through this exciting programme.”
More details on Jaguar’s return to racing including team presentation, drivers and partners will be released in the run up to season three.

Classic & Sports Car – The London Show is proud to announce an exhibition of Sir Stirling Moss’ competition cars.

  • Classic & Sports Car – The London Show is proud to announce another of its must-see attractions: an exhibition of Sir Stirling Moss’ most iconic single-seater competition cars
  • Stunning display at London venue Alexandra Palace will include some of the machines driven to victory in Formula One by the British race ace
  • Iconic machines from Cooper, Lotus, Ferguson and Vanwall on display
  • Full details of this centerpiece feature will be revealed over the coming weeks
  • Classic & Sports Car – The London Show will feature more than 300 of the world’s most prestigious classic cars from world-famous collectors and world-renowned classic car retailers
  • Inaugural show will take place from 30th October to 1st November 2015 at Alexandra Palace. Further information and tickets available at
  • www.classicandsportscarshow.com
Classic & Sports Car – The London Show is delighted to announce, as a complement to its ‘Best of British’ theme, a display of important British single-seaters raced by ‘Mr Motor Racing’ Sir Stirling Moss.
While Moss raced hundreds of different machines in dozens of different categories, including single-seaters, touring cars, sportscars and rally cars, all over the world in his spectacular career, it was his dedication to promoting Britain and its racing industry that was unrivalled. So much so that he would use his outrageous skill to compensate for often less-competitive machinery in his patriotic pursuits.

To recognise that loyalty, organisers of Classic & Sports Car – The London Show are gathering a selection of important British single-seaters with genuine Stirling Moss history to which visitors will be able to get up close.
COOPER MKIV
Like many a racing driver, Moss learned his trade in the smaller-engined Formulae. In fact, the maestro was one of the first customers of the Cooper Car Company, visiting the Surbiton works in Surrey to buy a Mk2, later upgrading to MkIII and MkIV, and reprising his role with the marque in Formula One with Rob Walker. Moss took a dominant win on the streets of Monaco with this car in 1950.
LOTUS 18
Used by Moss to take his second World Championship Monaco Grand Prix victory in 1960 – his first had come with Maserati in 1956 – the Lotus 18 was a fast and lightweight machine perfect for Moss to demonstrate his skills.
On that May day 55 years ago, he beat the Cooper of Bruce McLaren, who’d won the season-opening GP in Argentina a few months earlier, by almost a minute in the Climax-engined racer. It is now campaigned in historic events by collector and enthusiast Stephen Bond.
FERGUSON P99
The P99, brainchild of legendary tractor manufacturer Harry Ferguson, was the first four-wheel-drive single-seater to win a Formula One race, thanks to Moss triumphing in the non-championship Gold Cup at Oulton Park in September 1961. That day, Moss took the unique machine to a 45-second victory over the Coopers of Jack Brabham and Bruce McLaren. The car is now owned and raced by Stuart Rolt, son of former Jaguar Le Mans 24 Hours winner Tony Rolt.
VANWALL VW4
Moss had made Formula One World Championship history in 1955 by becoming the first British driver to win the British Grand Prix, when he took the Mercedes W196 to victory at Aintree. Two years later he added yet another accolade to his CV by becoming the first to win at home in a British car. When his own VW1 chassis expired with engine failure, he took over the sister car, VW4, of Tony Brooks. Still feeling the effects of his crash for Aston Martin at Le Mans, Brooks gave up his car for Moss to stage one of his legendary charges.
The Moss/Brooks victory in the car that normally resides in the Donington Grand Prix Exhibition remains the last shared World Championship Grand Prix victory.
Further details of the Stirling Moss single-seater display at Classic & Sports Car – The London Show will be revealed over the coming weeks.
James Elliott, Classic & Sports Car magazine group editor, said: "We're delighted to be able to showcase some hugely important single-seaters in which Sir Stirling Moss achieved so much success. It's particularly appropriate that they should be British, since the 'Best of British' theme runs through the inaugural Classic & Sports Car – The London Show. The display brings extra kudos to the show and we hope visitors are captivated by these iconic machines. Our sincere thanks to the owners of the cars for entrusting them to us – and thanks to Sir Stirling Moss, of course, for making them famous in the first place."
Stirling Moss: “It's great to hear that Classic & Sports Car – The London Show has chosen to display four of the cars that were so important to me during my career. The little Cooper takes me back to the very start when I first started to climb the single-seater ladder.
“And what can you say about the Lotus 18, run by my friend Rob Walker. To win at Monaco in a privately run car was very special. And I did it again the following year! The Ferguson was a unique machine. It's a shame the technology didn't take off, but it was good to get a win with it at Oulton Park, while we could. I'll always be fond of the Fergie.
“I love the Vanwall. Tony Vandervell was a charismatic character all right, and built cars that beat Ferrari. Winning your home grand prix in a British car, as I did with Tony [Brooks] in 1957, was a very big deal and remains one of the highlights of my career. I hope everyone enjoys seeing the cars in the famous Alexandra Palace and wish the inaugural event every success."
Classic & Sports Car – The London Show will feature more than 300 of the world’s most prestigious classic cars from world-famous collectors and world-renowned classic car retailers. Organised by Classic & Sports Car, the world’s best-selling classic car magazine, The London Show will also announce the results of its worldwide poll to find the Best British Car Ever. More incredible features will be revealed over the coming weeks.
