Anglia Car Auctions set a new auction house record in its June Classic Car Sale.

Anglia Car Auctions set a new auction house record in its June Classic Car Sale with the sale of a 1962 Maserati 3500 GT for £117,600 including premium, more than three times its highest estimate.

With 263 classic vehicles on offer, the matching numbers exhumed Maserati was just one of 72 per cent of lots sold with an overall sales total of £1,955,860 as the hammer dropped for the final time on Saturday 13thJune.

Proprietor Lyn George said: “It was a great auction with a diverse catalogue and we’d like to thank all the vendors and bidders who came and supported the sale. We still have some outstanding provisional bids, which we feel confident will take the final figure to over £2,000,000.”

Other estimate busters included a genuine 59,000 miles 1987 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth barn find, with an estimate of £15-20,000, which saw the hammer down at £47,250 including premium.

Storming SEAT Leon ST Cupra 280 to attend the GTI Worthersee event later this week.

  • SEAT Leon ST CUPRA 280: only 7:58.12 minutes through the Green Hell
  • Makes its world debut at GTI Wörthersee Treffen from 13 to 16 May 2015
  • Pure emotion and dynamics – impressive Leon range at Reifnitz
With a record-breaking time of 7:58.12 minutes, the SEAT Leon ST CUPRA 280 is the fastest estate car around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Making its world debut at this year's Wörthersee Treffen in Austria, the latest addition to the CUPRA stable is set to make the hearts of the expected 200,000 car fans and tuners from a host of different countries beat that little bit faster.
Showcasing a total of five impressive variants from the Leon range, SEAT will travel from Martorell in Spain to Reifnitz, some 1,515 kilometres away.

An approachable star – the SEAT Leon ST Cupra
On 13th May, there will be 280 PS rolling through the small town, where the SEAT Leon ST CUPRA 280 will celebrate its debut at the legendary meeting. Speaking about the record which he set, using the standard front-wheel-drive production estate with manual transmission and Performance Pack, Spanish racing driver and SEAT brand ambassador Jordi Gené, said, “
It was an indescribable feeling to get the best out of this car and to be the first to achieve this record,” said Jordi Gené. The sports tourer benefits significantly from the Limited Front Slip Differential (VAQ) of the SEAT Leon CUPRA 280 and the six-speed manual gearbox – systems that enable it to ensure a secure grip on the road, even under difficult conditions.
“The Leon ST CUPRA reinforces that an estate car doesn’t have to be a compromise. This record time is not only another symbol of our claim ‘Technology to Enjoy’, but also sets new standards. The SEAT Leon ST CUPRA is a sports car for the whole family,” said Dr. Matthias Rabe, SEAT Vice President for Research and Development.
At this year’s cult event, the the Leon ST CUPRA 280  will also be showcased with the “Black” Performance Pack. Painted in Dynamic Grey, it is sure to cut a sleek figure with its 19-inch alloy wheels, BREMBO high-performance braking system and body-colour side skirts.
Through its sublime blend of power and comfort, the SEAT Leon ST CUPRA 280 achieves a perfect balance which appeals to both the heart and the head. Not only is there space for the whole family, the powerful 280 PS engine also delivers thrilling performance.
Traditionally, SEAT shows something extreme at the Wörthersee Treffen and this year is no exception. Austrian racing driver Mario Dablander, who is a touring car racing driver in the 2015 SEAT Leon Eurocup, will bring his SEAT Leon CUP RACER to the event after the race in Portugal.
The extraordinary in the ordinary – SEAT Leon SC Cupra and SEAT Leon Cupra
This year, SEAT is presenting two particularly attention-grabbing models in Dynamic Grey and Blanco Nevada paintwork. The SEAT Leon SC CUPRA 280 provides visual impact with an “Orange” Performance Pack.
The three-door sets sporty accents with the orange front grille, colour-coordinated mirrors and orange rims against the flat grey paintwork. In addition, the high-performance brake system, along with the 19-inch high-performance tyres and side skirts likewise deliver a strong presence. The Leon five-door CUPRA 280 is no less impressive.
The Blanco Nevada colour concept, in combination with the Black Line package, gives the model a mean look. Particularly eye-catching are the entry sills at the front, rear side spoilers and the 19-inch alloy wheels painted in high-gloss black. Beyond their sporty design and 280 PS performance, both model variants are also optionally equipped with the well-known highly innovative assistance systems.

SEAT launches ‘Ultimate Sub8 Performance Pack’ for LEON, Cheaper, lighter and more fun.

  • SEAT launches ‘Ultimate Sub8 Performance Pack’, priced at £4,200
  • Comprehensive pack sports 30mm larger brakes with Brembo calipers, Michelin Sport Cup 2 tyres, body coloured side skirts, multi-spoke alloys in black or orange, plus series of weight reduction measures
  • Exclusivity assured as each car built to order
  • Undercuts closest rival, Mégane Renaultsport 275 Trophy-R, by up to £7,000
SEAT is all set to stir up the hot hatch brigade once again with the launch of a new ‘Ultimate Sub8 Performance Pack’. Mirroring the exact specification of its creation which became the first front-wheel-drive production car to dip under the magic eight-minute Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time, the pack is set to cost £4,200.

Ultimate Sub8 Performance Pack

Other LEON models in the range.

Be under no illusions. A Leon SC CUPRA 280 fitted with the Ultimate Sub8 Performance Pack is no impractical trackday toy. It’s every inch a proper hot hatch, just with an even more focused nature than the multi-award-winning Leon on which it’s based. It’s even got rear seats and a radio, DAB at that. Nevertheless, it’ll still make a simple trundle to the shops, an occasion and not a chore, and garner plenty of attention along the way. Plus, given the fact that each car will be built to order, its exclusivity is assured.

Specifying the Ultimate Sub8 Performance Pack on a Leon SC CUPRA 280, costing £27,210 in manual guise, brings the price to £31,410. A sizeable £5,020 less than its closest direct rival, the two-seater Mégane Renaultsport 275 Trophy-R at £36,430. Or, closer to £7,000 by the time the latter’s Performance Brake pack, electric door mirrors and satellite navigation extras are thrown into the equation.

Courtesy of some weight reduction trickery, the comprehensive pack swaps climate control for a simpler heating system, while even four of the CUPRA’s usual eight speakers have been ditched in the dieting process. The weight loss programme has also seen the Leon CUPRA 280 slimmed down through the loss of the centre console armrest and rear air vents, while even the storage boxes under the front seat have been binned.

The rest of the pack is as per the standard Sub8 Performance Pack, which means lightweight multi-spoke 19-inch alloys in black or orange, 30mm larger brakes with Brembo callipers and body-coloured side skirts. Semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres can be included too for £460.

Keeping it extremely simple for customers, there’s the usual choice of six-speed manual or slick-shifting DSG transmission, but, in keeping with its stripped back approach, no options.
As well as a supreme driving experience, it also retains another CUPRA hallmark, its high-end equipment features. Among them are DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control) and CUPRA Drive Profile, providing the choice of Normal, Sport, CUPRA and Individual settings, to adjust the suspension, throttle sensitivity, gearbox and engine note, according to the whim of the driver’s mood. There’s also cruise control, rear parking sensors, touchscreen satellite navigation and tyre pressure monitor.

The Ultimate Sub8 Performance Pack can be specified now with all new Leon SC CUPRA 280 orders.

SEAT announces pricing and specs for Leon ST CUPRA 280, bit pricey, but its a stunning car..

  • SEAT’s first high-performance estate Leon ST (Sports Tourer) CUPRA 280 to cost £28,505 (manual) and £29,860 (DSG) OTR
  • Hottest estate in its class sports 2.0 turbocharged 280 PS engine, hitting 0-62 mph in six  seconds (6.1 for manual) and limited top speed of 155 mph
  • Leon ST CUPRA 280 has no direct lower-medium class performance estate rival, offering more power and equipment for the money than anything else
  • UK debut at Daily Telegraph Outdoor & Adventure Show, 12-15 February 2015
  • Ordering for UK cars is now open, ahead of showroom launch in March 2015
SEAT has confirmed pricing and specification for the third model in its fire-breathing Leon CUPRA range, the ST CUPRA 280. Priced from £28,505 on-the-road, the new “Q-car” offers quite simply performance and practicality without compromise.

The sporty Spanish brand is now the only manufacturer to offer a flagship performance version in three bodystyles on one of its models. In the Leon’s case, the latest ST CUPRA 280 now joins the fold with its three-door SC and five-door Leon siblings.

The hottest of the current crop of “hot estates”, the Leon ST CUPRA 280’s two-litre turbocharged 280 PS engine can propel it from 0-62 mph in six seconds (6.1 for manual), before going onto a limited top speed of 155 mph. At the same time, whether it’s a tradesman’s trusty workhorse, or school run load-carrier, it’s still an easy car to live with.

With such an impressive amount of power, good looks, solid build quality and high equipment level, SEAT’s latest model can lay claim to having arguably no direct hot estate rival for the money. On paper, its closest mass market competitor is the Ford Focus ST-3.

However, not only is it outgunned by 30 PS in the performance stakes, the Blue Oval’s challenger also comes with significantly less equipment. Ominously for premium carmakers, with its 280 PS potency, engaging driving experience, high residual value and large load-carrying ability, the new Leon ST CUPRA 280 is also straying into their hallowed territory from the class above.

Inside and out, the ST CUPRA 280 retains all of the Leon ST’s usual style and practicality, including its sizeable 587-litre boot, which rises to 1,470 litres with the rear seats folded at the pull of a single lever. Immediately distinguishable from other Leons, the newcomer boasts 19-inch CUPRA alloy wheels with titanium finish, red brake callipers, rear spoiler and diffuser housing two oval end chrome tailpipes, together with substantial air intakes at the front.

As with the other two halo versions in the range, the ST CUPRA 280 comes highly kitted out. In keeping with its positioning as an everyday sports car, it comes with an enviable list of luxury touches and gadgetry to make life that little bit easier and driving even more enjoyable.

First up is CUPRA Drive Profile, which enables the driver to alter the car’s suspension, steering and throttle set-up as the mood takes them. The performance theme runs through the interior with a CUPRA leather steering wheel and Alcantara sports seats, while auto lights and wipers, SEAT Media System Plus and DAB radio, plus satellite navigation round off its comprehensive equipment tally.

Extensive options list

As the Leon flagship, CUPRA 280s can be upgraded to impressive heights. Whether its the fitment of the ‘Sub8 Performance Pack’, or a CUPRA Colour-Line pack (Black, Orange or White), the car is sure to get more than its fair share of attention wherever it’s seen.

Straight out of the factory, the Leon ST CUPRA 280 is already a hot estate to be reckoned with. However, owners looking to create something even more special can specify the Sub8 Performance Pack. For £2,025 including VAT, it includes even more substantial brakes, specially-designed 19-inch alloy wheels in either black or orange and body-coloured side skirts. Semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, which also featured on SEAT’s fastest production car to date, are available for £460.

The aforementioned Black-, Orange- and White-Line colour packs, at £500 will ensure the ST CUPRA 280 stands out for all the right reasons. Taking the standard car’s looks to another level, it ensures the standard 19-inch CUPRA alloy wheels are picked out in black, orange or white, according to the chosen pack, with co-ordinating door mirrors and tailgate lettering. The front grille surround and door mirrors also come in the same shade, with the mean and moody look completed through painted brake callipers (red for black wheels and black for orange wheels).

In addition to the styling enhancements, ST CUPRA 280 drivers also have a plethora of other individual options and packs to choose from. Among them, are the SEAT Sound system for £255, Driver Assist Pack (which takes in High Beam Assist and Lane Assist) at £300, and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Front Assist for £505. Lastly, for those keen to venture on track with the hottest compact estate, CUPRA bucket seats are likely to prove a boon. For £1,250 they come clad in black Alcantara upholstery with white simil leather bolsters, and feature a one-piece head restraint, CUPRA logo and heating.

Potential UK buyers will be able to catch their first glimpse of the latest addition to SEAT’s iconic CUPRA stable at the Daily Telegraph Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show, held at London’s ExCel, from 12-15 February 2015.

SEAT Launches new Sub8 performance pack for LEON CUPRA 280

  • SEAT launches new ‘Sub8 Performance Pack’ for Leon CUPRA 280 at £2,025
  • Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres available too for £460 - £540 less than rival Renault charges for the same option
  • Also new and available to order on CUPRA 280: two coloured exterior packs - Black-Line and White-Line for £500, plus CUPRA bucket seats at £1,250
Fresh from its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, SEAT has confirmed the price of the ‘Sub8 Performance Pack’ for its Leon CUPRA 280 flagship.
Fitted to the storming Leon CUPRA 280 which became the first front-wheel-drive car to dip under the elusive eight-minute Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time, the optional pack includes even more substantial brakes, specially-designed 19-inch alloy wheels in either black or orange and body-coloured side skirts for £2,025 including VAT.

Providing stopping power in keeping with the car’s potency, the brake discs, at 370mm, are 30mm larger than on the standard car and include Brembo four piston callipers.
The CUPRA 280’s VAQ electronically-controlled limited slip differential, already delivers impressive levels of grip. But, for those discerning owners seeking the ultimate, especially on track, semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, which also featured on SEAT’s fastest production car to date, are available for £460. Notably, £540 less than those available on hot hatch rival Mégane Renaultsport 275 Trophy.
Striking, with a high-quality interior and impressive levels of equipment, the Leon CUPRA 280 is effectively two cars in one. One minute, it’s a docile, easy to live with coupé (SC), or practical five-door family car, capable of up to 44.1 mpg. The next, in CUPRA mode, it becomes a force to be reckoned with, hitting 62 mph from rest in just 5.7 seconds (DSG version).
Launch of CUPRA Black-Line and White-Line
As well as the eagerly-awaited Sub8 Performance Pack, SEAT also debuted its new CUPRA colour exterior packs at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Designed to add an extra dose of Latin flair to the already eye-catching lines of its Leon flagship, two shades will be available initially, labelled Black-Line and White-Line.
Costing £500 including VAT, the embellishments are available to order now, and include CUPRA 19-inch alloy wheels, door mirrors, CUPRA tailgate lettering and front grille surround all picked out in either hue, according to the chosen pack. Black rear side spoilers also feature, regardless of the pack colour. A further pack, Orange-Line, launches in SEAT dealers in December.
CUPRA bucket seats
Rounding off the array of option additions for the Leon CUPRA 280, is the arrival of figure-hugging CUPRA bucket seats. Sought-after by trackday aficionados in particular, the new front seats, priced at £1,250, feature a one-piece head restraint and come clad in black Alcantara with simil leather bolsters and white accents, with embossed CUPRA logo. The price also includes Winter Pack (heated front seats and headlight washer system with heated front washer nozzles).

GENEVA - New SEAT Leon CUPRA -- Nürburgring 2014 record: 7'58''

  • SEAT Leon Cupra 280 DSG laps Nordschleife circuit in 7:58.4 minutes
  • Cupra 280 becomes the quickest ever front-wheel drive production car around the ’Ring
  • Premiere of Mii by MANGO alongside Leon Cupra at the Geneva show
  • Leon Cup Racer, set to star in one-make Eurocup, also on display
  • SEAT sales up by 10.6% in 2013

  • The SEAT Leon Cupra 280 has smashed the Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record for a front-wheel drive car. With an astonishing time of 7:58.4, it becomes the first FWD production model to dip below the eight-minute barrier.
The car used to set the amazing lap time was a production-specification Leon Cupra 280 DSG, equipped with an optional Performance Pack* that includes Brembo high-performance brakes, specially designed 19-inch alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
Formally announcing the record at the Spanish company’s Geneva Motor Show press conference, SEAT S.A. President Jürgen Stackmann said: “Our ultimate expression of the successful Leon formula is the all new Leon Cupra. It is the fastest and the most powerful car we have ever built and yet is a comfortable family car. The Cupra is our new icon.”

Sticking with a high-performance theme, SEAT is also putting the new Leon Cup Racer – the competition vehicle developed and built by SEAT Sport – on display in Geneva. The Cup Racer forms the basis of the Leon Eurocup, beginning in May 2014 and which invites private race teams to compete on some of Europe’s most iconic racing circuits.
Another attraction on the SEAT stand is the new Mii by MANGO, a new range-topping, design-driven edition of SEAT's city car created in collaboration with the famous design label MANGO.
    SEAT’s soaring sales
SEAT is currently demonstrating impressive performance in its sales figures. With 355,000 vehicles delivered worldwide, the Spanish manufacturer achieved growth of 10.6% in 2013, in a market that shrank by 1.8% in Europe. In Germany, for instance, SEAT achieved a market share of 2.8% following growth of over 22%, placing it in the top ten. In the United Kingdom, registrations of the brand increased by around 17%, and close to 8% in its home market of Spain. The new Leon family made a major contribution to this success: no less than 102,000 new SEAT Leon models were registered in 2013, 44% more than in the previous year.

“SEAT clearly has positive sales momentum. The new Leon family is a key contributor to this growth. We are about to create a second strong pillar of business next to the Ibiza family. We expect to continue this success with the new Leon ST launched in the past months. First customer reaction is very positive, with over 20,000 factory orders already since launch period. We have momentum and plan to continue our growth path in 2014,” says Jürgen Stackmann, President of SEAT S.A. “SEAT is a young-spirited brand made in Barcelona. This young spirit is defined by two dimensions: we are design-driven and we are dynamic.”
    The new SEAT Leon Cupra
The new Leon Cupra embodies SEAT’s brand values in the best possible way: state-of-the-art technology and stunning design, coupled with compelling performance and excellent everyday usability. With up to 280 PS, the new Cupra is the brand’s quickest and most powerful series-production car, and is the most dynamically engaging car SEAT has ever produced – while remaining comfortable day-to-day. With its extensive equipment and excellent quality, the new Cupra represents exceptionally good value-for-money. This new sports icon for the SEAT range will be offered from launch as a five-door and as the Leon three-door SC.

    Impressive record on the Nürburgring
The new SEAT Leon Cupra has demonstrated its phenomenal performance in the best possible way, with an impressive record on the world’s most demanding racetrack. The record time achieved (7:58.4 minutes) was possible thanks to the technological precision of the Leon Cupra, equipped with the optional Performance Pack* including Brembo high-performance brakes, specially-designed 19-inch alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

The average speed was 96 mph, with a top speed of 150 mph on the Tiergarten section of the circuit. The circuit surface was dry, with an ambient temperature of 10ºC and a track temperature of 8ºC. There is no doubt that such an outstanding record time was achieved not only because of an exceptional car, but also thanks to a driver who was equal to the situation. Sitting behind the wheel of the Leon Cupra 280 was the Spanish driver Jordi Gené, official SEAT driver between 2003 and 2010 during the European Touring Car Championships (ETCC) and World Touring Car Championships (WTCC), among other events. He was also a member of the Leon Cupra development team at the Nürburgring.
    Leon Cup Racer
The new Leon Cupra delivers the basis for an impressive, professional race car, presented by SEAT at the Geneva Motor Show ready for its first season on the racetracks of Europe. This 330 PS car will have its debut in May at the start of the new single-brand championship, the SEAT Leon Eurocup, to be held over six race weekends in six European cities and with attractive prize money.

    Mii by Mango

The new Mii by MANGO is a special edition of SEAT’s city car designed in collaboration with MANGO, the world-renowned fashion label from Spain. With a raft of features that set it apart from the standard version, including an exclusive ‘Nude’ paint colour and Alcantara upholstery, it’s a stunning way to top the Mii range.
Available with three- or five-doors, its standard equipment list includes ESC, ABS, front- and side airbags for driver and front-seat passenger, head and chest airbags, deactivation of front-seat passenger airbag, Isofix anchor-points with Top Tether on the two rear seats, air conditioning, CD/MP3 radio + aux-in, hill start assistant, remote-control central locking, a 12V socket in central console and electrically-operated front windows.
*The SEAT Leon Cupra Performance Pack is not yet available in the UK. An announcement will be made in due course.

SEAT Leon Cupra 265 ponies for just £265

    • New 265 PS SEAT Leon SC Cupra available for just £265 per month on PCP deal
    • More powerful Leon SC Cupra 280 from just £285 per month
    • All Cupra PCP deals include £1,000 deposit contribution from SEAT
    • 0% finance available when a 50% deposit is placed
    • Cupra available to order now for first deliveries from 4 March 2014
    • Leon Cupra 280 is the quickest, most powerful SEAT production car ever

In a staggeringly serendipitous meeting of finance and metric horsepower, the new SEAT Leon SC Cupra is available from just £265 per month, on a PCP finance scheme.

The 36-month deal includes a £1,000 deposit contribution from SEAT UK and interest at just 4.9%, making the new Leon Cupra as financially judicious as it is phenomenally fast.

The SEAT Leon SC Cupra boasts a 265 PS engine capable of propelling the car from zero to 62 mph in just 5.9 seconds, pushing it on to a 155 mph top speed.

It’s stacked with kit too, with a standard equipment list that includes 18-inch alloy wheels, full-LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, DAB radio, and Cupra-specific styling details including a perforated leather steering wheel, sports seats trimmed in Alcantara, and Cupra-branded sills.

The SC Cupra underpins a family of Cupra models that gives buyers a broad choice; the new Leon Cupra range offers two body styles (three-door SC and five-door hatchback), two transmissions (six-speed manual and DSG automatic) and two power outputs (265 PS and 280 PS).

The Leon Cupra 280 DSG is the quickest and most powerful series production car that SEAT has ever made, boasting a 5.7-second 0-62 mph sprint made possible by the combination of a 280 PS turbocharged engine and a twin-clutch DSG gearbox, shifting through the gears in milliseconds. In addition, the standard fit mechanical front axle differential in every version of the Cupra model helps ensure maximum traction at all times.

The Leon SC Cupra 280 DSG is also the most efficient of the range, with average fuel consumption homologated at 44.1 mpg, and CO2 at 149 g/km. Using the same PCP finance deal that bags an SC Cupra 265 PS for £265 per month, the 280 PS DSG model is just £305 per month.

All SEAT’s Leon PCP deals benefit from a £1,000 deposit contribution paid by SEAT UK. If a 50% deposit is placed on a Leon Hire Purchase deal (£1,000 of which is paid by SEAT UK), 0% APR finance is available on every car in the Leon range.

This finance deal also means that a Leon 2.0 TDI 184 PS – the most powerful diesel production car that SEAT has ever made – is available in SC form for just £199 per month. All deals are based on a 10,000 miles per annum contract.
