Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

The 4th Genration Mazda MX-5 now sports it's first special Limited Edition, the Icon, limited to just 600 cars.

  • On sale from the 1st August, the £20,995 on-the-road Icon special edition is limited to just 600 cars.
  • First special edition version of the 1.5-litre 131ps all-new Mazda MX-5.
  • Joins a host of other MX-5 highlights at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The all-new Mazda MX-5 Icon special edition will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Joining Mazda’s award-winning sports car line up from the 1st August, the Icon is based on the 131ps SE-L Nav and is the first special edition fourth-generation MX-5 with the 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-G engine.
With a choice of free-of-charge Meteor Grey Mica or Crystal White Pearlescent paint, the £20,995 on-the-road Icon is marked out by its contrasting design cues and enhanced standard equipment.

Visually the Icon makes a bold statement with its Soul Red Metallic wing mirrors, rear spoiler, side stripe decals (not pictured) and front skirt.
The unique look is further boosted by 16-inch Gunmetal alloy wheels, while the increased equipment tally also includes black leather seats, rear parking sensors, dusk-sensing lights and rain-sensing wipers.
On display at Goodwood within Mazda’s unique ‘Raise the Roof’ live music area, the Icon joins a host of other MX-5 highlights at this year’s Festival of Speed.
These include the European debut of the all-new Mazda MX-5 RF, plus the first appearance outside of North America for the MX-5 Speedster and Spyder concept cars.
While marking the amazing popularity of the world’s best-selling two-seater sports car, the one-millionth production MX-5 will also be on display.
The fourth car to wear the Icon badge - previous MX-5 Icon special editions were sold in the UK in 2000, 2005 and 2007 (see below) – the latest Icon is a striking sports car with an achievable price, and limited to just 600 cars it’s available to order now.
Pre-order is also open on the all-new Mazda MX-5 RF ahead of its arrival in dealerships next year, and with limited supply in the opening months, fans of the latest incarnation of MX-5 should register their interest now to be one of the lucky few to take delivery of early versions of the Retractable Fastback, a car that represents the next chapter in the MX-5 success story.
“We are delighted that UK MX-5 fans will get to see both the Icon special edition and the all-new Mazda MX-5 RF at the Goodwood Festival of Speed”, commented Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director of Mazda Motors UK.
Adding, “with over 120,000 sales since its launch in 1990, the UK has played a huge part in the MX-5 success story and the Icon follows a long tradition of special edition MX-5s that allow customers to have a stand out vehicle which is truly affordable.
And I’m really excited about the all-new Mazda MX-5 RF, this is a car that offers something new and I’m sure it will attract even more people to the MX-5 family, which is why I’d encourage anyone interest in the RF to pre-order early, as based on dealer feedback after its launch at the New York Motor Show, we envisage that demand will outstrip supply when the car goes on sale next year.”
With the Moving Motor Show on the 23rd June, the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from the 24thto the 26th June.

  • All-new Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro offers sporty styling enhancements and extra equipment.
  • Available in two free-of-charge paint colours – Soul Red Metallic and Ceramic Metallic.
  • Powered by 2.0-litre 160ps SKYACTIV-G petrol engine.
  • £24,295 on-the-road (OTR) and available to order now.
  • Unique look courtesy of Sports Aero Kit and Diamond cut alloy wheels.
The Limited Edition all-new Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro has joined Mazda’s award-winning sports car line up. Based on the 2.0-litre 160ps Sport Nav, the Sport Recaro retains the finely balanced performance and handling of the standard car, but limited to just 600 cars, it benefits from added exclusivity and sporty styling enhancements inside and out.

The lightest MX-5 since the iconic original, the all-new Mazda MX-5 is shorter, lower and wider than the outgoing car, with the smallest overhangs and lowest centre of gravity yet. These dynamic proportions combined with Mazda’s KODO: Soul of Motion design philosophy ensure that the all-new Mazda MX-5’s styling reflects its focus on driving pleasure in an unmistakably contemporary and dynamic way.
Created with the discerning sports car fan in mind, the Sport Recaro builds on these sharp looks with a Brilliant Black Sports Aero kit that includes a rear spoiler, plus front, side and rear skirts. Piano Black door mirrors and 17-inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels with an engraved MX-5 logo complete the stand out exterior appearance.
Inside, the classy MX-5 cabin gains an Alcantara dashboard panel, alloy pedals and unique floor mats. Complementing the premium feel of the cabin, the standard Recaro seats feature Alcantara upholstery on the seat cushion and seat back, while red seat piping compliments the red stitching found on the dash, handbrake and gear lever.
Designed to deliver outstanding lumbar and lateral support, the heated Recaro seats are perfectly aligned with the Jinba Ittai concept of car and driver as one that defines the Mazda MX-5. Complementing the Mazda MX-5’s driver-focused cabin and communicative controls, the supportive Recaro seats match the fun-to-drive ethos that has made the Mazda MX-5 the best-selling two-seater sports car of all time.
Based on the generous specification of the 2.0-litre Sport Nav, the all-new Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro features LED headlights, a leather steering wheel, climate control air-conditioning, DAB radio, Integrated Bluetooth®, integrated navigation system with 3-years free European map updates, rain sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, smart keyless entry, a premium Bose®sound system and cruise control, plus Mazda’s MZD-Connect connectivity and infotainment system with 7-inch Colour touch-screen display and Multimedia Commander.
In line with the 2.0-litre Sport Nav, the Sport Recaro benefits from a dynamic set-up that includes Sports suspension featuring Bilstein dampers, a limited slip differential and strut tower bar. Across the range, the all-new Mazda MX-5 was conceived and developed under the concept of “innovate in order to preserve”. This engineering philosophy has allowed Mazda to maintain the agility, fun and engagement that has always defined the MX-5 while at the same time meeting ever-increasing safety and efficiency requirements, alongside improved refinement.
Continuing Mazda’s long tradition of special edition MX-5s, the all-new Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro is the first Limited Edition version of the all-new fourth-generation MX-5 offered in the UK, and its exclusivity is marked out by an individually numbered badge located on the centre storage box lid. With its stand out styling, sporty cabin enhancements and Recaro seats, the all-new Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro is available to order now.

USA - The time has come, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is launching "The Final Edition", only 1600 though.

  • The Final Edition is based off the current GSR model featuring new enhancements and increases to horsepower and torque
  • Only 1,600 units will be sold in the U.S. market, each marked by a numbered plaque
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) today announced the details of the limited-production 2015 Lancer Evolution Final Edition. Arguably the originator of the four-door sports car genre, the Lancer Evolution has seen ten generations – three of which were sold in the U.S. over 12 years.
To send it off in style, Mitsubishi Motors will offer 1,600 numbered Final Edition models to the U.S. market with a MSRP of $37,995.
The Lancer Evolution Final Edition is based off the current GSR model, with exterior and interior enhancements not previously offered on the GSR.

The heart of the Final Edition is a 5-speed transmission paired with a turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder 2.0L engine, producing 303 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 305 lb-ft torque at 4,000 rpm. Performance is further enhanced by use of lightweight two-piece Brembo® brake rotors up front, accompanied by Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs at all four corners.
As with all 2015 Lancer Evolutions, the Final Edition model features Mitsubishi's innovative and unmatched Super All-Wheel control system.
The Final Edition model receives exterior upgrades including a Final Edition badge in the rear, black painted aluminum roof, dark chrome painted Enkei® alloy wheels, gloss black center bumper and hood air outlet and dark chrome front grille surround. Final Edition models will be offered in four colors: new Pearl White, Rally Red, Mercury Gray and Octane Blue.
Inside, a numbered plaque on the center console denotes each of the 1,600 units created. In addition, Final Edition models receive a black headliner, pillars, sun visors and assist handles, and red accent stitching for sport seats, steering wheel, shift knob, console lid, floormats and e-brake handle.
"With its incredible combination of power, agility and Super All-Wheel Control, the Lancer Evolution is one of the most well-known sports sedans and is revered by 'gearheads' around the globe," said MMNA executive vice president, Don Swearingen. "The Final Edition model pays homage to Evo's remarkable place in automotive history and takes it one step further as the most powerful mass-production Lancer Evolution ever built."

SHANGHAI 2015 - Lamborghini launches the Aventador LP-750-4 Superveloce Limited Edition in China.

  • Asian debut of the new Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce, a limited edition of 600 cars worldwide
  • 2015 marks Lamborghini's 10-year anniversary of entering into China market
  • Greater China remains the world's second largest market for Lamborghini
At the 16th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, Automobili Lamborghini presents the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce.

Making its Asian debut, the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce is the most sports-oriented, fastest and most emotional series model ever produced by Lamborghini, therefore giving a precise demonstration of Lamborghini's brand values -- Visionary, Cutting-edge and Pure.

The car is limited to 600 units worldwide.

The Huracán LP 610-4, the successor to the iconic Gallardo, enters the same stage in Hall 6.1. Redefining the benchmark for luxury super sports cars in this segment, the Huracán has not only sustained the successful market performance of its predecessor, but is also destined to create a new legend.

The Aventador LP 700-4 Pirelli Edition, which celebrates the long and ongoing collaboration between the Raging Bull and the prestigious Italian tire manufacturer, is also introduced for the first time to China at this year's Auto Shanghai.

The year 2015 also marks Lamborghini's 10-year anniversary of entering into the China Market, which remains one of the most important markets for Lamborghini worldwide.

''After the worldwide debut last March at the Salon de l'Automobile in Geneva, today we present here in Asia the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce.

This new car represents the perfect combination of Lamborghini's expertise in lightweight engineering and sophisticated technical features.

The new Aventador LP 750-4 is the most exclusive, pure and emotional car in our current model range,'' said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

The new Aventador Superveloce continues the Lamborghini tradition of SV models, pushing the boundaries in terms of performance and pure driving emotion. The weight has been further reduced by 50 kg through enhanced lightweight engineering, including significant use of carbon fiber.

The naturally aspirated V12 engine's power is increased to 552 kW/750 hp. This results in a power-to-weight-ratio of 2.03 kg/hp. The Superveloce accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds and powers on to reach a top speed of more than 350 km/h (more than 217 mph).

  • A limited production run of only 600 units; all vehicles will feature a special numbered identification plaque on the dashboard

  • Functional design, great cargo capacity and versatility have made the Kombi a huge success
This commemorative special series will mark the end of Kombi production in Brazil

Volkswagen Brasil has announced the Kombi Last Edition, a special commemorative series of one of the most successful Volkswagen models in Brazil and the longest produced model in automotive history.

The Kombi Last Edition has a production run of only 600 units and features exclusive body paint, luxury internal finishing and design elements which give a nod to the many versions made in Brazil since 1957.

The Kombi Last Edition comes with special two-tone white and blue body paint and each model will be fitted with a numbered identification plaque on the dashboard. Special design details such as whitewall tyres, white centre wheel caps and tinted rear windows provide an extra touch of nostalgia.

The upper section of the front grille, headlights and indicator rims come in the same colour as the exterior.  Front indicator lights feature white crystal lenses.  At the side of the vehicle decals help identify the special series: ‘56 anos - Kombi Last Edition’.

Interior - special treatment

Inside, the Volkswagen Kombi Last Edition features distinctive blue fabric curtains in the side and rear windows and curtain fasteners bear the ‘Kombi’ logo, a feature typical of the model’s top versions from the 1960s and 70s.

The seats come in special vinyl upholstery, with sides in Atlanta Blue and a matching two-tone centre (blue and white).  The model can seat up to nine people.

The internal side, door and cargo panels are also upholstered in Atlanta Blue vinyl and are finished with decorative stitching.  The cabin and luggage area floors are fitted with carpet and dilour Basalto inserts, the same material that covers the spare tyre.

The instrument cluster boasts a special serigraph treatment and keeps the traditional Kombi design of speedometer at the centre and fuel gauge on the right.  The MP3 sound system has red LEDs and features auxiliary and USB ports.

Each Kombi Last Edition is provided with a special certificate of authenticity.
The model is equipped with the EA111 1.4-litre engine, which delivers 78 PS when used with petrol or 80 PS when used with ethanol (both at 4.800 rpm).  The transmission is a four-speed manual.
