The award-winning Volkswagen Caddy is set to become an even more tempting proposition thanks to a substantial specification boost and range realignment. The change, which marks the introduction of the 2018 model year Caddy, delivers even higher standard equipment levels, boosted safety features across all models and lower prices for petrol-powered models.

Safety has always been at the heart of the Caddy’s design and engineering, with driver, passenger and side airbags and post-collision braking system all introduced as standard when the current model was launched in 2015. 

With the 2018 model, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has increased safety levels once again with the fitment of autonomous emergency braking (AEB - Front Assist with City Emergency Braking) and driver alert as standard across the entire range. 

All Volkswagen vans now come with standard AEB, cited by Thatcham Research, the motor insurers’ automotive research centre and respected experts in safety, security and crash repair, as ‘probably the most significant development in vehicle safety since the seat belt’ with the potential to save more than 1,000 lives and 120,000 casualties over the next ten years.

And it’s not just additional safety equipment that Caddy drivers will benefit from with the introduction of the 2018 model. All three trim grades, Startline, Trendline and Highline, feature more standard equipment than ever before, further boosting value for money. 

All models, including Startline, gain a leather multifunction steering wheel and multifunction display (in addition to AEB and Driver Alert), while 2018 Trendline models now feature climatic air conditioning as standard. Finally, range-topping Highline models gain Volkswagen’s sophisticated Discover Media satellite navigation system as standard.

As part of the 2018 Caddy package, Volkswagen is also realigning its price structure. As a result, models equipped with the brand’s highly advanced TSI petrol engines are now significantly more affordable. For example, the Startline 1.2 TSI 84 PS model now costs £17,527 (total RRP inc OTR and VAT) – some £1,017 less than the previous price.

The Caddy enjoys one of the broadest ranges of petrol engine options in its sector, and is offered with three highly efficient TSI petrol units. The line-up for the 2018 model consists of: a 1.2-litre 84 PS four-cylinder unit, a 1.0-litre 102 PS three-cylinder unit and a range-topping 1.4-litre 125 PS four-cylinder engine offered with the option of a seven-speed DSG transmission. All three optimise lightweight construction and a turbocharger to deliver the perfect combination of performance and efficiency.

For van drivers and fleet operators, safe vans mean lower costs as well as less downtime thanks to fewer crashes and therefore drivers and vans kept on the road – and working – for longer. In addition, vehicles fitted with autonomous braking systems have an average insurance premium reduction of ten per cent compared to those which don’t.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has scored its second hat-trick in two days, having claimed a further three trophies at the 2017 Business Van Awards earlier today. The Transporter was named ‘Best Large Trades Van’, the Transporter Kombi took the honours for ‘Best Crew Van’ for the third year running, and the Transporter was named overall Business Van of the Year.

The Transporter is renowned for its reliability, excellent build quality and efficient engines, all of which were factors in the judges’ decisions. The Business Van judges were also impressed with its size and notable load capacity, making it the ideal vehicle to claim the accolades.  

Equally as impressive was the Transporter Kombi, awarded ‘Best Crew Van’ for the third year in a row. Business Van judges noted its fresh design, host of engineering and safety features and all-new infotainment system key.

The sixth generation Transporter is available as a panel van, kombi, shuttle or Caravelle, as well as with chassis cab and dropside variants. It also comes with a comprehensive list of safety equipment, including Driver Alert and Automatic Post Collision Braking Systems.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has claimed three of the top honours at this year’s Business Vans Awards. Volkswagen impressed the judges with a number of its products as well as its pre- and after-sales support packages which are provided by the brand’s dedicated Van Centre network.

This year’s awards saw Volkswagen presented with the ‘Best Pick up’ award for its Amarok. Whether it’s a do-it-all load carrying double cab or rugged off-road pick-up the Amarok remains a favourite with business and private owners alike. Business Vans’ editor Martyn Collins commented: “Despite challenges from rivals the Amarok remains the best pick-up on the market.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced that the fourth-generation Caddy Life and the longer wheelbase Maxi versions - including Maxi Life, Maxi Kombi and Maxi Window van – are now available to order ahead of first UK deliveries in September. Prices for the short wheelbase Caddy Life 2.0-litre TDI 102 PS Euro 6 engine, start from £15,600; Caddy Maxi Life with the same engine starts from £17,985.

As with the new Caddy Panel van which opened for ordering at the start of July, these models come with the same new technology, comfort, convenience and safety systems. These include composition colour infotainment system with DAB, Bluetooth, heated windscreen, post-collision braking, daytime running lights and BlueMotion Technology modifications, for added efficiency and lower emissions, as standard. As well as additional systems such as Brake assist, City Emergency Braking and cruise control.

Caddy Life and Maxi Life come with a significant amount of standard equipment, but there are also some desirable options available to help with everyday life behind the wheel. These include; Park Assist, which makes light work of manoeuvring into parking spaces, or Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which will keep you at a pre-set distance from the car in front by regulating your speed in accordance with the traffic around you.

These new models all come with the 2.0-litre TDI Euro 6 engines and are available with a 102 PS or 150 PS power output. They also have BlueMotion Technology modifications as standard, which include low-rolling-resistance tyres as well as regenerative braking and stop/start systems. The most economical 102 PS engine has a combined fuel consumption of up to 65.7mpg and a CO² output of just 114g/km.

Volkswagen’s Caddy Life offers flexible seating for up to seven passengers, including the driver. The two rear rows of seats can be folded, double folded or removed to leave a loading space of up to 3,030 litres. The Caddy Maxi Life, with its extra 420mm length, offers an additional 340 litres, bringing the total loading area up to 3,370 litres.

The new Caddy Maxi Kombi will be N1^* type approved and starts from £17,510 for the 2.0-litre TDI 102 PS Euro 6 engine. The new Caddy Maxi Window Van will start from £17,185 for the same engine and will be M1^*type approved.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced UK prices and specifications for the new Transporter panel van and Kombi models. The sixth-generation model launches with the widest range of engine, transmission and trim level options ever offered by Volkswagen and introduces a host of new design and engineering features, along with new assistance and safety systems. 

Prices for the new Transporter T6 panel van start from £17,745 (excluding VAT and other OTR charges), with order books opening on 6 July.

The Transporter is Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ biggest selling model in the UK, and has consistently set the benchmark for quality, practicality and low running costs. The sixth-generation model – which is scheduled to arrive in the UK in September – is set to raise standards once more with a package that delivers improved efficiency, greater comfort and higher equipment levels.

Broader range, more equipment

The new Transporter panel van and Kombi range consists of three trim levels, all of which enjoy significant equipment boosts over the outgoing model.

Startline models are priced from £17,745 (panel van, excluding VAT) and introduce a host of new standard features including BlueMotion Technology, DAB+ digital radio, 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth phone connectivity and USB connection. Standard equipment also includes Volkswagen’s acclaimed Automatic Post Collision Braking system, which automatically applies the brakes after a collision, reducing the risk of a secondary impact.

Trendline models start from £19,755 (panel van, excluding VAT) and build on the generous standard specification of the Startline. In addition to new Simora cloth upholstery and a multi-function display, Trendline models benefit from new wheel trims, a full-height steel bulkhead (panel van), body-coloured bumpers and rear parking sensors. A Comfort pack consisting of foldable grab handles on A-pillars, additional storage compartments, dimmable cabin lights and additional noise suppression is also fitted as standard.

Highline models top the new Transporter range and are priced from £21,315. Among the many new features introduced to the sixth-generation version are a new leather multifunction steering wheel, heated windscreen, automatic driving light control, daytime running lights and 16-inch Clayton alloy wheels (17” Richmond alloys on T32 and/or 180PS engine). Highline models also come with front fog lights with cornering function and a Thatcham Category 1-approved alarm as standard.

In keeping with Transporter tradition, the new T6 model offers a range of body options and gross vehicle weights to suit the needs of all operators and drivers. In addition to three roof height options; standard (1,410 mm), medium (1,635 mm) and high (1,940 mm), the new Transporter is available with four gross vehicle weights (ranging from 2,600 kg to 3,200 kg) along with short and long wheelbase options.

Prices for Kombi models start from £19,840 for the entry-level 2.0 TDI 84PS Startline model.

Cleaner, more efficient engines

From launch, the Transporter engine range consists of four 2.0-litre TDI Euro5 engines with outputs of 84 PS, 102 PS, 140 PS and 180 PS (Highline only) and a 2.0-litre TDI Euro 6 unit that develops 102 PS. All models benefit from Volkswagen’s acclaimed BlueMotion Technology modifications as standard. These include low rolling resistance tyres, and regenerative braking and Start/Stop systems, to reduce fuel consumption meaning the new Transporter is cleaner and more efficient than the outgoing model. For example, the 2.0-litre 102 PS Euro6 panel van SWB can return 47.9 mpg on the combined cycle (a 10.2 mpg improvement) and emits 153 g/km of CO₂ (a reduction of 45 g/km).

The 2.0-litre TDI Euro6 engine will be joined by additional Euro6 units over the course of the next 12 months, with 150 PS and 204 PS powertrains added to the range. These advanced new units feature a range of improvements designed to increase efficiency and drivability.

All 84 PS and 102 PS engines are fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, with 140 PS and 180 PS units equipped with either a six-speed transmission as standard or a seven-speed DSG automatic.

Option prices for the new Transporter range, along with prices and specifications for Shuttle, Caravelle and California models will be announced shortly.

ŠKODA has produced this week the first ŠKODA Superb Combi at its plant in Kvasiny, Czech Republic. The first model is a Superb Combi 2.0 TDI in white moon, a client of the local market will be delivered.











In its segment, the new Skoda Superb Combi sets benchmarks in space, comfort, security, connectivity and ecology, and inspires its customers with full of excitement and dynamically elegant designs. The market launch is scheduled for September.

The new Skoda Superb Combi looks the largest interior space in its segment. The total volume of the trunk is nearly 2,000 litres, a size which until now could only be found in higher segments. The use of modern technology Volkswagen Group MQB also enables a new level of comfort and safety. 


The new Skoda Superb Combi also offers maximum connectivity and ecological character. In line with the new design language of ŠKODA, the latest model of the brand provides a captivating interplay of functionality, technology and emotion.


Kvasiny is one of the three plants of ŠKODA in the Czech Republic, and employs nearly 4,500 people. In addition to producing the new Superb Combi, Superb saloon also has been coming out of its assembly lines since mid-March. Along with these models, the seat of Kvasiny also manufactures the ŠKODA Yeti. 


Over the next years, the plant and facilities around it will modernize and expand further. 


In  2018, the company expects to have created 1,300 additional jobs in  Kvasiny. The production capacity will increase to 280,000 vehicles per year. To do this, the company will invest about CZK 7,200 million over the next three years .
