The Cactus from Citroen now sports a special all black edition (just like the one we own)

Citroën is further enhancing the C4 Cactus range with the introduction a C4 Cactus OneTone version. The eye-catching OneTone model features Obsidian Black metallic paint, black Airbump®, 17-inch black alloy wheels and special OneTone graphics. The new C4 Cactus OneTone will go ‘on sale’ in the UK from 1 April 2017, priced from £19,020 OTR.
EDITOR - This is not new - in fact I own an all black Cactus and have done for two years now - so they are late to the party, maybe i should charge them for nicking my idea. LOL
For those seeking a new take on the standout charms of the multi-award winning C4 Cactus, yet more choice is on the way. The new Citroën C4 Cactus OneTone will go ‘on sale’ in the UK from 1 April.
Offering an elegantly styled exterior that plays on the harmony between the tone-on-tone black body paint, black Airbumps® and black alloy wheels, the C4 Cactus OneTone retains all the original personality of the iconic Citroën model, while adding a fresh new look and dynamic presence.

The new version features Obsidian Black metallic paint, 17-inch black ‘Cross’ alloy wheels and OneTone graphics on the rear quarter panels. The C4 Cactus PureTech 110 S&S manual OneTone is based on the range-topping Flair trim level. The new model offers distinctive style with all the latest technologies designed for well-being.
Additional equipment includes the City Park Pack with front parking sensors, gap measurement and Park Assist self-parking. Other features include a two-tone leather steering wheel and dark tinted rear windows, plus a Navigation and Hi-Fi Pack with 6 speakers and an ARKAMYS digital amplifier. There is also Bluetooth® hands free functionality and media streaming.
As part of the launch promotion, C4 Cactus OneTone features in a new attention-grabbing video advertisement. In what has become a well-known TV scene, a jury is auditioning contestants in a talent show. The next contestant is Annabel, an adorable little girl with the face of an angel, who instantly wins the hearts of the audience. Backstage, her nervous parents are comforted by the host. The jury asks the contestant to begin. To everyone’s astonishment, the little girl bursts into a rousing rendition of a hard rock song. Dressed in her little pink cardigan, but possessed by a heavy-metal spirit, Annabel belts out the song.
The mother and daughter are then seen leaving in the C4 Cactus OneTone with the sound of hard rock contrasting with the stylish elegance of the car.
The film perfectly sums up the Citroën C4 Cactus OneTone. Under its pure and elegant
all-black body, this car loses none of its edge. That same spirit is summed up in the advertising slogan, “GO BE DIFFERENT”.

The C4 Cactus PureTech 110 S&S manual OneTone is priced from just £19,020 MRRP OTR.

Citroen's developed an all new Advanced Suspension programme to make driving comfort even more important.

Citroën has released details of its innovative new suspension technology as part of the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, which will ultimately deliver unrivalled levels of on-road comfort for owners of all Citroën models.
For almost a century, comfort has been closely linked with the Citroën brand, in the same way that design and innovation has been part of its DNA.
However, as expectations and driving habits have evolved, so too has the definition of comfort.
The Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme addresses the expectations of today’s motorists with its all-new progressive hydraulic cushion suspension system, new seat technologies, improved body rigidity and acoustics, all to filter out road noise and vibrations. This is combined with a more simplified, yet rewarding, cabin environment.
Citroën is demonstrating these advances via a prototype C4 Cactus known as the ‘Citroën Advanced Comfort®Lab’.

The New C4 Picasso range, which goes on sale in the UK on 1 September, is the first model to benefit from selected elements of the programme.
CITROËN ADVANCED COMFORT ®: A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO COMFORT
Comfort means different things to different people. Indeed, a multitude of parameters contribute to the driving experience – damping, body stability, acoustics, seats, light, space, ergonomics and cabin layout.
The Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme addresses all of these variables to deliver comfort that is characteristic of the brand and sets it apart from the rest of the market.
Starting with the New C4 Picasso, it is the brand’s intention to deliver its new technologies progressively over time on every model in the Citroën range, from the C1 city car through to larger models.
The programme, which Citroën will use to reaffirm its credentials and expertise in the field of comfort, has four simple objectives:
  • Filter out any exterior interference for a cocoon-like ride, with solutions for the suspension, vibrations and acoustics that deliver ‘driving comfort’.
  • Simplify life on board with generous space, functional storage compartments and an ingenious layout to provide well-being and ‘living comfort’.
  • Create an even easier driving experience with intuitive technology, driving aids that can be used every day, and digital continuity between the driver and the car to offer greater ‘functional comfort’.
  • Ensure peace-of-mind for the driver by displaying only information that is truly useful, and creating a relaxed interior ambience that provides ‘comfort of the mind’.
NEW C4 PICASSO: REFLECTING CITROËN'S VISION OF COMFORT TODAY
The C4 Picasso range already sets the standard in the MPV sector. The recently revealed versions aim even higher with more welcoming interiors, generous equipment and enhanced dynamic qualities. In this way, the New C4 Picasso models perfectly illustrate how the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme is set to deliver greater overall well-being for all occupants.
Driving comfort
Built on the PSA Group's EMP2 platform, the New C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso deliver outstanding driving comfort, which is characteristic of the brand. With vertical rear shock absorbers and raised suspension arm joints, for example, the cars damp out imperfections in the road surface extremely effectively.
The ergonomic design of the seats and the choice of materials also serve to help isolate occupants from road noise and vibrations. Optional heated seats, with a massage function, are available.
The front passenger can even stretch out in an electric seat with a built-in leg rest. Finally, following studies into road noise, Citroën has increased acoustic comfort and vibration control by improving the damping of the front subframe and fitting a dual-material acoustic shim on the rear suspension.
Living comfort
With its optimised interior space : exterior size ratio, New C4 Picasso provides a generous amount of living space for everyone. All the seats in the modular cabin are independent, so users can personalise the interior configuration to suit their needs or mood.
The storage compartments positioned around the cabin are not only numerous, but are truly ingenious and easy to access: the central storage bin between the front seats perfectly illustrates this. With the easily accessible boot and generous capacity, luggage loading is no longer a source of stress.
Functional comfort
The New C4 Picasso features the latest equipment for practical, connected use. Keyless entry and start already made life easier for the driver, and now owners will benefit from hands-free tailgate technology, allowing the boot to be opened simply by waving their foot under the rear bumper. In terms of connectivity, New C4 Picasso features a range of intuitive systems, so the driver can connect their smartphone and use it via the central touchscreen (Apple CarPlay™ and MirrorLink®).
Comfort of the mind
At the wheel, drivers receive information from all directions. To provide assistance and lighten the mental load, New C4 Picasso provides a range of driving aids for everyday use. Hill-start assist, Park Assist and the automatic high beam/low beam function provide valuable support. A range of electronic aids, from the lane departure warning function to blind spot monitoring, give drivers confidence in the vehicle's capacity to alert them in the event of an emergency.
The dashboard architecture is unique, with a 7-inch touchscreen and a 12-inch HD screen, for a naturally ergonomic layout that ranks information according to type and importance. The large glazed area (5.30 m²) and the spectacular panoramic windscreen also contribute to comfort: the cabin is bathed in light, avoiding any sense of confinement.
THE ‘CITROËN ADVANCED COMFORT ® LAB’: UNEQUALLED DAMPING QUALITY
The ‘Citroën Advanced Comfort® Lab’ prototype C4 Cactus is the focal point of the brand’s redefinition of on-road comfort.
When a car drives over a bump or dip, the disturbance is passed through the cabin and onto the occupants in three stages:
a) The suspension action
b) The vibrations are then transferred to the vehicle body
c) The vibrations are felt by the passengers through the seats
Addressing this chain of events, the ‘Citroën Advanced Comfort® Lab’ prototype features three innovations that singularly, then collectively, reduce the vibrations felt by the passengers and thus significantly improve driving comfort.
Citroën has filed more than thirty patents for the technologies implemented in this prototype, and they have all been developed to be applicable, from both a cost and production standpoint, to all the vehicles in the Citroën range.
Suspension systems with progressive hydraulic cushions
For over 95 years, the development of comfortable suspension systems has been part of Citroën’s DNA. The brand has created an all-new suspension system, which dramatically improves the ride comfort, and builds on that heritage and know-how to deliver an unrivalled ‘magic carpet’ ride.
Whereas a conventional suspension system is comprised of shock absorbers, springs and mechanical stops, Citroën's new system adds two progressive hydraulic cushions – one for rebound and one for compression – at the top and bottom of each suspension unit. In this way, the suspension functions in two ways depending on the road surface:
  • In cases of slight compression and rebound, the springs and shock absorbers work together to control vertical movement without needing the hydraulic cushions. However, the new cushions provide the vehicle with greater freedom to deliver a ‘magic carpet’ ride, creating the impression that the car is flying over any bumps and dips in the road;
  • In cases of more significant compression and rebound, the springs and shock absorbers work together with the hydraulic cushions at the ends of the suspension travel. These new cushions gradually slow the movement, rather than having abrupt stops at the extremes of compression and rebound. Unlike a conventional mechanical stop, which absorbs the energy then partially returns it, the hydraulic cushion absorbs and dissipates the energy.
The innovative new technology not only delivers an exceptional level of comfort that is specific to the brand, but it can be applied to all Citroën models from the city-car segment and up.
Structural body bonding
When the suspension has completed the damping process, the energy created by the irregular road surface is transferred to the vehicle body. The use of structural bonding techniques will significantly reduce this occurrence, thanks to increased overall stiffness.
Using an industrial process specific to Citroën, the structural parts of the vehicle are bonded together using a discontinuous line of adhesive. An electrical weld point is positioned wherever the line of adhesive is interrupted to ensure optimum rigidity during assembly. This eliminates the toxic smoke that would be generated by welding and burning the adhesive.
This special bonding technique has a number of advantages:
1.     The first is significantly greater overall body rigidity. The improvement in stiffness is around 20% on average: a stiffer body will reduce the level of vibrations while driving.
2.     Another significant benefit is weight reduction. Bonding makes the body stiffer without making it heavier. The heavier the vehicle, the more complex the suspension damping process is for improved comfort.
3.     The final advantage is cost. The technique allows engineers to reduce the number of electrical welds, which in turn aids Citroën’s ambition to deliver the new suspension on all models.
Seats inspired by the world of bedding
A car’s seats provide the first impressions of comfort – from visual aesthetics to the reduction of on-road vibrations for the occupants.
The new seats provide a better combination of comfort and all-important posture support thanks to the introduction of different foam densities. In addition, Citroën took inspiration from the bedding industry and how it has developed its memory-foam mattresses.
By using several layers of special materials (polyurethane foam, viscoelastic or textured foam), Citroën has mirrored this bedding technology to deliver memory seats that adapt perfectly to the body shape of each person. With these unique properties, the seats regain their original shape from one passenger to the next.
Summary
With its progressive hydraulic cushions, structural body bonding and innovative seats, Citroën Advanced Comfort® combines three innovations that significantly improve the vehicle's ability to filter out the bumps and dips in the road.
Not only do these innovations reaffirm Citroën’s expertise in on-road comfort, but they deliver a statement of intent to roll-out the technology across the entire range, whatever the price of the model.
The New C4 Picasso range shows that Citroën vehicles can deliver ‘driving comfort’, alongside solutions for ‘living comfort’, ‘functional comfort’ and ‘comfort of the mind’. The brand's future models will go further in each of these areas, as illustrated by the ‘Citroën Advanced Comfort® Lab’ demonstration vehicle in the field of suspension comfort.

PSA Group will invest 700 million euros in Spain over the next four years & build a new car in its Vigo factory

PSA Group will invest 700 million euros ($785 million) in Spain over the next four years and will build a new car in its Vigo factory in northern Spain starting in 2020, a company spokesman said.
PSA did not give any details of the new model, but local media reported that it will likely be a compact SUV for the Peugeot brand.

The bulk of the investment -- 640 million euros -- will go to Vigo, the spokesman said, confirming comments made by CEO Carlos Tavares during a visit to the region on Wednesday and picked up by Spanish media.
Vigo builds the Citroen Picasso, Citroen Elysee and Citroen Berlingo models alongside the Peugeot 301, according to the Automotive News Europe's European vehicle assembly plant map.

The rest of PSA's investment will be destined for the company's plant in Madrid-Villaverde, which builds the Citroen C4 Cactus.
PSA employs close to 8,000 people in Spain, three quarters of whom are based in Vigo.
PSA's announcement comes after French rival Renault said earlier in May that it will invest over 600 million euros in Spain and produce a new vehicle there too.

Citroen uses the Geneva Show as a base for the world premiere of the new Citroen C4 Cactus Rip Curl Edition.

New Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl Special Edition to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. A unique and fun crossover, this special edition C4 Cactus introduces Grip Control for improved traction, along with new styling elements that emphasise its outdoor character.
A new type of crossover designed to shake up the sector, the C4 Cactus is continuing to expand its range with the World Premiere of a new special edition at the Geneva Motor Show. The Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl is born from the collaboration between Citroën and Rip Curl, the legendary brand from the world of surfing.
Through the association with Rip Curl – whose name alone has symbolised surfing since 1969  – Citroën is boosting the outdoor spirit of C4 Cactus through the introduction of an even more radical and adventurous version.

Citroën is providing C4 Cactus fans with a special edition that is more technologically advanced, with a higher level of all-road performance. This car is ideal for lifestyles focused on leisure and well-being. This philosophy is totally in tune with Rip Curl, a brand founded in Torquay, Australia, only a few hours’ drive from the mythical Cactus Bay surfing hotspot.
Sharing values such as innovation and creativity, both brands also share a taste for adventure. Rip Curl calls this “The Search”, meaning the search for the perfect wave. Now, the C4 Cactus Rip Curl encourages drivers to hit the road anytime, anywhere. The partnership is perfectly aligned and compliments the launch of Grip Control in the C4 Cactus range.
Grip Control – more traction, to help you get away
The Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl's major innovation is enhanced traction. Associated with the more powerful C4 Cactus engines, each mated to a manual gearbox (PureTech 110 S&S manual and BlueHDi 100 manual). Citroën’s C4 Cactus Rip Curl Special Edition is the only version to come with Grip Control. The car also features special Mud & Snow tyres to help keep it moving on difficult surfaces (Goodyear 205/50 R17 89V – Vector 4Seasons tyres).
The Grip Control system provides the benefit of intelligent traction in ‘off-road’ mode. It uses an advanced anti-skid function built into the ESP computer, which manages the traction from the driven front wheels, and has various other modes for different types of terrain. The Grip Control selector, set in the centre of the dashboard, provides access to five operating modes:
  • STANDARD: to drive along sun-drenched coast roads, through sweeping mountain bends, long stretches of motorway or trendy city-centre avenues. This mode is intended for usual road conditions and normal driving use. It also lets the Grip Control system adapt automatically to the current state of the road.
  • SAND: to help you get as close as you can to the most beautiful surfing spots. This mode keeps you moving on loose ground or sand, and limits the risk of the car getting bogged down.
  • OFF-ROAD: allows you to drive safely on all types of slippery surfaces (mud, wet grass, dirt tracks). Acting as a limited-slip differential, this mode transfers the maximum amount of torque to the wheel with the most grip.
  • SNOW: to get you to the most beautiful ski resorts. This mode instantly adapts the traction of each driven wheel to the prevailing grip conditions, letting you move calmly and securely on snowy roads.
  • ESP OFF: to deactivate the ESP.
Each of the last 4 modes is operational up to a pre-set speed limit and then automatically reverts to ‘Standard’ mode.
The new Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl's increased traction promises a unique driving experience for both drivers and passengers alike, irrespective of the season or destination. It also stands apart from the crowd with its trendy compact SUV looks.
Modern, functional design
The new Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl can count on its unique design for usability and style. This special edition is both modern and dynamic, reflecting the surfer ethos. Its looks stand out, with exclusive attributes both inside and out. Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl's specific look includes: white door mirrors, white roof-bars and a white vertical strip on the wings blending geometric patterns and the Rip Curl logo. The rear quarter-lights feature the same pattern, applied horizontally, with the Rip Curl signature in white lettering. This graphic firmly places the car in the surfing world.
The Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl also features front and rear aluminium-coloured protection plates that reinforce its ‘adventurer’ identity. The functional and stylish Airbump® technology enhances the personality of the C4 Cactus and protects its bodywork. Specified with black Airbump® panels as standard, a range of optional colours (Dune, Chocolate and Grey) allows customers to personalise their C4 Cactus Rip Curl. Five body colours will be available to order at launch: Tapenade Grey, Obsidian Black, Sport Red, Arctic Steel and Pearl White. By the end of the year, Citroën intends to offer a new and unique blue body colour to further enhance the Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl’s special edition status.
The C4 Cactus Rip Curl's cabin features dynamic, energising orange detailing. The orange safety belts contrast with the interior finish of the Mica Grey fabric seats (standard specification) or the black part-leather upholstery (optional). The same colour schemes appear elsewhere in the cabin. The protective floor mats feature orange stitching and a label bearing the surfing brand's logo. To carry on the theme of contrasts with the Stone Grey ambiance on-board, the Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl's loudspeakers are also finished with an orange flourish.
With its high level of equipment, the new Special Edition C4 Cactus Rip Curl is based on the Citroën C4 Cactus Flair trim. Standard equipment includes: rear parking sensors and camera, automatic climate control, automatic headlamps and front wipers, navigation system, 6-speaker MP3 audio system, cruise control/speed limiter and tinted windows. So you can remain at one with nature, the Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl is fitted as standard with a panoramic glass roof, complete with thermal protection.
On sale in the first half of 2016, the Citroën C4 Cactus Rip Curl will be exhibited on the Citroën stand in Hall 6 at the Geneva Motor Show from 1 March, 2016.
