Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

Latest MG Dealership opens in Scotland, just a few days after the last Scottish MG dealer launched.

MG’s newest dealership, in the heart of the Scottish Borders, has already taken orders, just days after going live.
Central Garages in Galashiels is less than an hour’s drive from the centre of Edinburgh. The new dealership has just gone live, but has already taken a firm order for an MG3.
Galashiels is expected to be a growth commuter town when the famous Waverley railway line to the Scottish capital is reinstated in September. Stuart Ormsby, Dealer Principal of Central Garages, says the dealership is perfectly positioned for future growth. He explained: “We are just five minutes from the railway station and our showroom looks out on the A72 main road to Edinburgh.

“All the major new retail shops in the town are around us, so we are in a textbook location for a car dealership, with a huge Halfords and B&Q store on our doorstep.
“As soon as people became aware that we had the MG franchise we started to get a lot of interest and we took our first order for an MG3 even before our signage and point-of-sale material were in place.”
Central Garages has been trading since 1984 and has represented both Renault and Daihatsu. But winning the MG franchise has put a smile on Stuart’s face. He said: “There’s something special about MG and the brand is really going places now with the new MG6 and the MG3.
“People here look for value-for-money and the modern MGs certainly offer that. But they offer so much more – they look really good, have loads of space inside and are comfortable and fun to drive. I think MG has got the formula just right.”
Central Garages, in Island Street, Galashiels, has a tight-knit team of six people, although Stuart says additional staff may need to be hired if the MG franchise takes off in the way he thinks it will.
Stuart added: “I’ve got two new MG6 models, which really are great cars, alongside several MG3s. Although we’re selling cars now we’re planning an open weekend towards the end of next month so that we can really launch MG to the Borders.
“I know the reaction will be fantastic and I get the feeling that for many people, the new MG6 and the MG3, could be just the cars they’ve been waiting for.”
As well as Galashiels, Central garages will serve many other key Borders towns including Kelso and Newtown St Boswells.

MG continues to expand with its 50th outlet.

  • 50th MG dealer joins rapidly expanding dealer network
  • 16 new dealers appointed so far in 2014
  • Total of 80 new dealers expected by the end of the year, 100 expected by end of 2015
  • MG continues to be the fastest growing automotive brand in the UK according to SMMT
  • 2014 marks the 90th anniversary of MG
MG has surpassed the 50th dealer mark. The landmark figure comes just weeks after MG announced sustained growth in 2014, as the Midlands based manufacturer doubled 2013 total sales volumes in just the first five months of the year.
This week, Seward MG in Havant and Central Garages in Torbay have been announced as authorised MG retailers. The Birmingham based manufacturer is planning a total of 80 dealers in the UK by the end of the year, expanding to 100 by the end of 2015.
New 2015 facelifted MG6, major redesign at rear, with mild updates at front,
interior has also been upgraded, no engine/gearbox updates though.

MG’s 90th anniversary year continues to be one of unparalleled success for the iconic marque, as figures announced by the SMMT for May reveal that MG once again leads growth for the UK automotive industry.
Success has been due to the recent launch of the MG3 supermini and expansion of the MG6 diesel powertrain family, with a new 129g, 350 Nm performance diesel recently added. Voted by customers as the winner of Best Handling and sixth overall Best Car to Own in the 2014 Auto Express Driver Power Awards, the MG6 is already a favourite with MG owners for its drivability, affordability and exceptionally high levels of equipment included as standard. Now the MG6 is even more appealing as all specifications are available from just £15,455 to £19,995, and with the current ‘High 5’ offer, MG6 customers can buy and drive away with complete peace of mind:
1. Five years free servicing up to 75,000 miles
2. Five years free warranty
3. Five years breakdown cover with the AA
4. Five years fuel subsidy in the form of £500 worth of fuel vouchers
5. Five year low finance of just five per cent APR

Launched in September 2013, the MG3 benefits from an ultra low 4E insurance group, strong residuals of up to 61 per cent, class leading interior and boot space, class leading chassis and driving dynamics and high levels of equipment on all specifications as standard. There are also over one million personalisation options and exceptional value for money aftercare packages to choose from. The MG3 is priced from only £8,399 to £9,999, or from zero percent deposit PCP from only £99 a month or from zero deposits.
Since November 2013, 22 new MG dealerships have opened in Havant, Torquay, south Sheffield, Dudley, Gloucester, north Sheffield, Woking, Spalding, Barnes in West London, Newcastle, Leicester, Harrogate, Doncaster, Northampton, Swindon, Norwich, Falmouth, Brecon, Maidstone, Wareham on the Purbeck peninsula, Oxfordshire and Exeter.  Further new dealer appointments will be announced shortly, as MG plans to have around 80 sales dealerships on board by the end of the year, these will be supported by the further network of 13 MG after sales specialists.
MG celebrated 90 years of the iconic marque with the MG90 event at Silverstone circuit 21-22 June, which saw over 15,000 enthusiasts attend, and featured a collection of current production and historic MGs worth over £3 million.
