Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

Business Car Manager - vauxhall takes Six Best Small Trades awards in the recent ceremony.

Vauxhall has scooped a total of six top honours at the Business Car Manager Awards, across car and van categories, which were presented today in London.
Beating off stiff competition, the Astra was the big winner at the ceremony, picking up the headline award of “Business Car Manager SME Company Car of the Year 2017”, while the Astra 1.6-litre CDTi Design (110PS) Start/Stop ecoFLEX variant was named as the “Best Value SME Company Car” too.
Vauxhall was also recognised in the “Best Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) Company Car Programme” category, again taking away the top prize.
The success didn’t stop there for Vauxhall though, as its van range won a hat-trick of accolades in the Business Van of the Year 2017 awards. The Corsavan picked up the “Best Small Delivery Van” award, while the accolade of “Best Small Trades Van” was given to the Combo. The Movano rounded off the success, being named as the winner in the “Best Heavy Van” category.
“The independent judges placed the Astra ahead of highly competitive opposition – but it’s not hard to see why,” said Ralph Morton, Editorial Director at Business Car Manager. “From the fantastically low operating costs to really competitive benefit-in-kind company car taxation, the Astra has it all – and that’s before we get to the brilliantly competitive specification.
“Each year Vauxhall has been refining its company car programme for SMEs, and each year it has got better and better to the point that is has knocked BMW/MINI Partnership programme off its perch as the best in the business.”
Consisting of a group of independent experts in the SME field, the judges used criteria such as company car tax and whole life costs to judge and rank each entry.
“We’re delighted Vauxhall has been recognised by Business Car Manager and Business Vans,” said James Taylor, Vauxhall’s Fleet Sales Director. “The company car market is an important sector for the Astra. It’s great to see how well-received it has been so far, and we are also pleased to be recognised for our company car programme, and that Corsavan, Combo and Movano remain firm favourites.”

Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles ahead in growing van market, during September plate change month.

  • Brit-built Vivaro accounts for more than one in ten of all retail vans sold YTD
  • For January to September 2015, Vivaro sales up 50% over same period in 2014
  • Sibling Movano also makes impressive headway with 43% increase YTD
  • Strong September market – registrations up nearly 20% year-on-year
Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles made strong gains in the CV market showing improved sales across its entire van range from January to September this year, making it the number one manufacturer for retail customers.

The van market itself enjoyed strong growth in September with 58,744 light commercial vehicles registered, up 19.5 per cent versus the same month last year.

Vauxhall registered 31,038 LCVs in the nine months to September corresponding to a 10.9 per cent market share and a 37.9 per cent increase on the same period last year.  That was more than double the rate of increase in the market as a whole, which is up 17.4 per cent with 284,161 units registered.  Vauxhall claimed top spot in the retail van charts with 11,425 registrations and an impressive 17.1 per cent market share.
The popular Vivaro, built at Vauxhall’s Luton plant, is the stand-out performer, accounting for an 11.01 per cent share of the retail van market. Overall, 20,231 Vivaro units have been sold year-to-date (compared to 13,411 for the same period last year), an increase of 50.8 per cent. This means there have been more Vivaros sold in the first nine months of 2015 than there were in the whole of 2014.
The Movano also exceeded all expectations with total registrations year-to-date amounting to 3,857, a 43.5 per cent increase over the same period in 2014. Elsewhere in the range, Corsavan increased sales by 12.6 per cent and Combo registrations rose by 7.1 per cent for the first nine months of the year.
Richard Collier, Vauxhall’s National Commercial Vehicle & B2B Sales Manager, commented: “2015 so far has been an outstanding year for Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles, and we are very proud of the impact our vans, particularly Vivaro, have made on the marketplace. With the Vivaro accounting for nearly 20 per cent of all retail vans sold in 2015, we’re confident the positivity surrounding the Brit-built van will continue.
“Across the range, it’s a great story for us too, with Movano uptake incredibly strong – it’s a van popular for conversions – while Corsavan and Combo hold their own in their respective segments, with sales growing year-on-year.”

Vauxhall Commercial vehicles supplies nearly 3000 vans to British Telecom.

Vauxhall has supplied multinational telecommunications company British Telecoms with a fleet of 2,500 Vivaros and 330 Corsavans, both of which will be used by its engineers nationwide. As one of the preferred suppliers to BT Fleet, over the last decade, Vauxhall is proud to have supplied over 20,000 vehicles to the business.

Ensuring the Vivaro L1H1 2900 90PS vans are fit-for-purpose, a number of BT engineers were consulted by Vauxhall on how the racking in the back of the vans could be arranged for maximum efficiency.

As part of their engagement in this landmark fleet deal, the BT engineers were able to visit Vauxhall’s Luton Plant to see the Vivaro being made, and the plant also organised for the group to see the 500th van from their order.

“It’s important that our engineers are driving the right van for them,” said Mike Langford, BT Fleet Senior Customer Relationship Manager. “Our vehicles need to be future-proof, reliable and user friendly, making the engineers who drive them the obvious people to help specify the vans.

“Getting to see how the Vivaros are made was great and we have had fantastic feedback from our engineers, who are all now firm advocates of the Vivaro!”

Mike added: “We had the previous Vivaro on our fleet for many years, and the new model makes absolute sense with outstanding whole life costs. The fact that it is built in Britain is an added bonus; it not only supports British jobs and industry but also provides a significant improvement in lead times and logistics.”

Richard Collier, National Commercial Vehicle and B2B Sales Manager, added: “We are delighted that BT has chosen Vauxhall to meet its medium van requirements. Vivaro offers outstanding practicality, economy and load-lugging capability, so I’m sure BT will be very pleased with its new fleet of Vauxhalls.”

  • New Corsavan makes its debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2015
  • Full Vivaro range on display: Combi, Double Cab, Platform Cab, LWB, High Roof
  • In-house signwriting and conversions available to all Brit-built Vivaro customers
  • One-Invoice sees single invoicing for Movano conversion customers

Vauxhall, the UK’s only volume van manufacturer, is debuting the new Corsavan at the Commercial Vehicle Show at Birmingham’s NEC (14th – 16th April) alongside its full line-up of British-built Vivaro vans.
The Luton-based manufacturer will also announce plans to offer Vivaro customers an in-house sign writing and wrap service as well as bespoke racking and conversions.

Available now to fleets and in the summer for small businesses, Vauxhall is the only UK manufacturer to offer this service which will save customers time and money as the work is done in-house, as the vans roll off the production line. Pricing will be extremely competitive and all work will be covered by a three-year warranty.
Vauxhall will also launch Movano One-Invoice approved conversions, providing even more simplicity and transparency for customers.
Vauxhall Vans Sales
Year-to-date, Vauxhall van sales are up nearly 32 per cent with over 11,000 vehicles registered in 2015. Market share was up to 11.3 per cent.
The Luton firm is also number one at retail and Vivaro is the number one van for small businesses with over 7,000 registrations this year. Vauxhall fleet sales also grew by 40 per cent.
Rounding off a cracking start to the year, Corsavan sales doubled and Movano fleet sales increased by 80 per cent in the first quarter.
Corsavan
With an increased payload of up to 571kg and priced from £11,175 to £13,875, new Corsavan in Sportive trim will take pride of place on the Vauxhall CV stand.
New Corsavan features an enhanced and improved chassis, with fuel economy of up to 85.6mpg and emissions as low as 87g/km CO2. As well as an impressive flat-loading capacity of up to 920 litres, the new small van is big on safety, featuring six airbags and active safety systems as standard, as well as Tyre Pressure Monitoring and ESP plus including Hill Start Assist.
Vivaro Range
The full Vivaro range will also feature on Vauxhall’s prominent stand in Hall 4 of the NEC, including L1H1, L2H1 (long wheelbase) and L2H2 (high-roof and long-wheelbase) panel vans, as well as Double Cab, nine-seater Combi and Platform Cab variants.
The Vivaro is built at Vauxhall’s Luton plant, the UK’s most productive van plant, where approaching a million current Vivaros have been made since production began in 2001. The latest model secured 1,200 jobs in the Luton area and contains 40 per cent British-sourced components, which will mean an extra £600 million spent with British suppliers. The plant is also a major exporter with 52 per cent of vans destined for European markets.
Also on the stand will be Vauxhall’s Combo with its class-leading payload of up to 1,000kg, as well as a Trucksmith Movano ‘KneeHi’ One-Invoice conversion, demonstrating the adaptability of Vauxhall’s commercial vehicle range.
Vauxhall is also the sponsor of Home Nations football, and visitors will have the chance to meet a football legend on its CV Show stand, including Peter Shilton on Tuesday 14th April, Bryan Robson on Wednesday 15th April and Trevor Francis on Thursday 16th April.

Available in showrooms later this month, the new Corsavan features a bright new exterior, high-class interior and an improved chassis.

The outgoing model has sold over 34,000 in the UK with the 1.3 CDTi being the most popular engine option.  Over 13,000 have been sold at retail to small businesses.

Last year was the strongest sales year for Corsavan since 2008.

The Corsavan’s main rival in the small compact sized commercial vehicle segment is the Fiesta Van.

“Vauxhall’s all-new Corsavan is stylish, comfortable and affordable to run,” said Steve Bryant, Vauxhall’s Head of Commercial Vehicle Brand. “Like its award-winning predecessor, it will hold massive appeal to van drivers, small businesses, fleet decision-makers and company drivers alike.”

Making new Corsavan even more affordable is Vauxhall’s offer of four years’ zero per cent APR representative finance, four years’ free servicing, four years’ roadside assistance and four years’ warranty. Service intervals are best-in-class at one year/20,000 miles.

The Corsavan will make it UK debut at the CV Show in at Birmingham’s NEC (14th – 16th April 2015).

DESIGN
  • New exterior styling
  • Modern and ergonomic interior
  • Three new exterior paint colours
Corsavan’s striking profile has been overlaid with Brit Mark Adams’ sculptural design, including elements such as the ‘blade’ running across the lower door-sections.

From the front, the Corsavan is immediately recognisable as the latest addition to the Vauxhall range. The bold face is clearly recognisable thanks to its ‘eagle eye’-shaped headlights, incorporating Vauxhall’s signature ‘wing’ LED daytime running lights and the low sporty trapezoidal grille, with a chrome bar supporting the Vauxhall Griffin.

From the side, the upper window line drops to the rear giving the van a sleek appearance. The sculptured body sides feature Vauxhall’s flowing ‘blade’ signature.

The rear view of the Corsavan is also completely new.

Horizontal split tail lights help widen the van and flow through to the rear shoulders creating a more muscular stance. The ‘wing’ graphic design features when the rear lights are switched on.

The new Corsavan is available in seven exterior paint colours including three all-new colours including Summit White, Shiny Rock and Darksea Blue.

Ergonomics have been vastly improved, with new seats that provide increased support, durability and extended travel – a boon for operators covering long distances or for companies using the van as a pool vehicle. In addition, ambient lighting and reduced levels of noise, harshness and vibration further improve the workday experience, whatever the line of business.

VERSATILITY, LOADING CAPACITY AND MODEL VARIANTS
  • Increased payload up to 571kg
  • Flat-loading capacity of 920 litres
  • Compact enough for the narrowest city street
The new Corsavan has a class-leading payload, up by 21kg versus the outgoing model to 571kg, and a flat loading capacity of 920 litres. Maximum loadspace height is also best-in-class at 921mm.

But at just 4.02 metres long and 1.94 metres wide, it’s compact enough to fit in to tight parking spaces and negotiate the narrowest of city streets.

  • New turbocharger for high torque from low revs and lag-free acceleration
  • Revised exhaust manifold for reduced noise and emissions
  • Dual mass flywheel for smoother running and idling
  • Close-coupled LNT (lean NOx trap) catalytic converter to meet Euro-6
The reliable and well-proven Start/Stop System is standard on all diesel engines, and also features brake energy recuperation. Regulated voltage control actively manages the battery level, helping reduce fuel consumption by reducing and optimising charging level during operation. It can sense when the vehicle is coasting or braking, and increases charge to battery .

There’s 1.2-litre (70PS) petrol unit that completes the Corsavan powertrain portfolio.

Chassis

An all-new chassis and steering system offers improved ride and feedback. The new speed-sensitive Electric Power Steering (EPS) system not only adds the City Mode, which boosts power assistance for easier parking, but has been further optimised for a more positive and direct feel.

Both the balance and handling have benefited from the lower centre of gravity made possible by new chassis technology. Front and rear suspension have been optimised and recalibrated resulting in improved stability, handling and comfort. New engine mountings ensure smoothness at all speeds including at idle. This also helps further reduce fuel consumption.

SAFETY
  • Six airbags as standard

The new Corsavan features a rigid safety structure made from high-strength steel with load diffusion paths and impact-absorbing areas. Six airbags are standard:

  • Side curtain airbags
The passenger front and side airbags can also be switch deactivated.

In addition to the passive safety enhancements such as safety cell and six airbags, New Corsavan also features active safety systems as standard. Active safety systems are important and enable accident avoidance.

New Corsavan features the latest-generation Electronic Stability Program Plus which includes following functions:
  • Straight Line Stability Control
  • Cornering Brake Control
