Model Year 2017 Mitsubishi ASX goes on sale with the Dynamic Shield look from the Outlander grafted on to this car.

  • Model Year 2017 Mitsubishi ASX goes on sale in the UK on November 1
  • "Dynamic Shield” refreshes the looks and brings the Mitsubishi ASX in line with the Outlander and Outlander PHEV
  • Trim designation is simplified with added equipment on most versions
  • Three engine options – one petrol and two diesels – with on-demand 4WD and an automatic transmission available on certain versions
  • Prices for the 2017 Mitsubishi ASX start at £15,999
The revised Mitsubishi ASX crossover is ready to make an entrance into Mitsubishi showrooms across the UK from November 1 2016.
The design of the Mitsubishi ASX gets a sleek new look courtesy of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s (MMC) new “Dynamic Shield” visual identity, refreshing the vehicle and bringing it in line with other models in the range such as the Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander PHEV.
The “Dynamic Shield” symbolises functionality and reassuring safety with bold chromed streaks sitting either side of the grille, shielding the three diamond mark.

The updated ASX not only welcomes the introduction of MMC’s “Dynamic Shield”, there is also a shark-fin antenna, revised seat cushions, new seat upholstery across the range and a new “Lightning Blue” colour option. Variant names in the new ASX range have also been changed, returning to the straightforward ASX 2, ASX 3, ASX 4 and ASX 5 format, and there have been changes to the trim levels too.
The versatile and efficient engine range is carried over from the outgoing ASX, with a 117hp, 154Nm 1.6-litre MIVEC petrol engine driving the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox; a 114hp, 270Nm 1.6-litre DI-D turbo diesel engine with a six-speed manual gearbox (front-wheel drive on ASX 3 / on-demand four-wheel drive on ASX 4) and a 150hp, 260Nm 2.2-litre DI-D turbo diesel combined with on-demand four-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission as standard.
In terms of fuel economy and emissions, the 1.6 turbo diesel with front-wheel drive produces CO2 emission of just 119g/km and is capable of 61.4 mpg on the official combined fuel economy cycle, while 4WD versions produce 132g/km and return 56.5 mpg. The 1.6-litre petrol engine produces emissions of 135g/km and is capable of 48.7 mpg on the official combined fuel economy cycle, while the 2.2-litre turbo diesel has emissions of 152g/km and returns 48.7 mpg.

PARIS - The Mitsubishi ASX gets the more corporate look with the new “Dynamic Shield” visual identity.

Just a few weeks prior to its market introduction in Europe, the revised ASX will be featured at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, sporting another interpretation of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s (MMC) new “Dynamic Shield” visual identity.

With over 1,100,000 units produced since its launch in 2010, ASX [1] has proved to be a global success for Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), as well as a timely development against the ever growing crowd of C-Segment SUV market.

In Europe [2], it is the second global market with 237,564 units sold since launch [3], where it remains Mitsubishi Motors’ number two seller behind Outlander.
Building on this solid foundation, Mitsubishi Motors continues to improve on this success with steady freshening to keep up with market trends and customers’ demand as well as the Brand’s own evolution.
Visual Identity
For a smooth transition towards the next generation of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles, the 2017 ASX boasts Mitsubishi’s “Dynamic Shield” – MMC’s new visual identity.
Previewed with the 2014 Outlander PHEV Concept-S show car, Dynamic Shield is meant to symbolise the functionality and reassuring safety inherent to Mitsubishi Motors’ SUVs, with bold chromed streaks on either side of the grille shielding the Three-Diamond mark to create a 3D suggestion of motion.
In the case of ASX, the front bumper was altered to accommodate the chrome streaks while the central section was blacked-out to mimic New Outlander (see above sketch) or eX-Concept. Above, the upper grille is now made of thin black horizontal slats and connects with the headlamps for an integrated look.
This new front face pays respect to both MMC’s past and “Form follows Function” philosophy. It is inherited from the bumper side protection seen historically with Shogun, providing a unique feeling of protection for the people and the car itself. In that sense, this new front face design expresses design heritage and evolution from that heritage.
In addition to this new front face, the European specifications 2017 ASX will also feature a shark fin antenna, a more supportive rear seat padding as well as a new seat material.
These cosmetic changes come on top of the most recent improvements brought to ASX for Europe, such as:
  • New 1.6 Turbo Diesel 114 ps engine (w/ Auto Stop & Go, 6 M/T, either 2WD or 4WD)
  • Extended service intervals
  • New features such as 18” multi-spoke alloy wheels, piano black accent on steering wheel, auto-dimming rear view mirror [4]
[1] RVR or Outlander Sport outside of Europe
[2] ”MME34” area, i.e.:34 markets – excl. RU & UA
[3] 21,079 units for CY16
